I knew the players but I never knew how they played the game. I was truly moved and inspired by the dedication of the forensics students and motivated by their determination. This book isn't uniquely for teachers but for students of all ages because as we go on in life, we can always come to know, as the book states, that "class is never dismissed".

Karen O,lead singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, gets it: "It's important for kids to feel bigger than they usually do. We're trying to make you feel a little bit cooler than you might actually be." Many American teachers don't get it. A lot of teaching today is either boring [2/3 of classroom time is talk and 2/3 of that is the teacher talking] or painfully judgemental[grades, the red pen, do and don't instructions]. It doesn't take a genius to see kids natural talents and creativity are being stifled.
Enter McCutcheon and Lindsey--Lindsey is a MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant recipient--with their Five Truths. These "Truths", explored in a clever anecdotal style, are a summation of what the authors discovered during years in the trenches of high school teaching.
But undergirding all the truths are the authors strong commitment to finding value in each student, understanding each student's interest or problem, and chalenging each student toward full potential by helping each student to feel special. McCutcheon and Lindsey get it and now every teacher and parent can too.

Beyond Mere Teacher's Manuals - for Parents, Too

This book is for parents as much as it is for teachers, and it is for students as much as it is for teachers. Heck, it is for any and all people whose lives aren't what they had expected. Or it is for people whose lives are going swimmingly, but want to read a marvelous book.

The fact of the matter is: there is only ONE Tommie Lindsey, there is only ONE Randall McCutcheon, but there are millions of people who could have used a teacher like either of these guys. This encouraging, readable, positive book offers simple advice to many of the seemingly complex questions in life.

Both teachers write well and provide great helpings of How They Did It, and the anecdotes by their students would make a worthy book even if they were published separately.

By the way, teachers should read this book, too. All of them.

While this inspiring book tells us that "it doesn't take a genius" to help students succeed, passage after passage show us how these two dedicated educators manage to bring out the genius in each of the students whose lives they touch. This is powerful testimony to the commitment, passion, wisdom, and strategies of skillful teachers who, first and foremost, believe in their students and honor them as human beings, thereby enabling them to attain excellence, not only in high school but also in life. This is a must-read book for teachers, parents, and others who might be moved by stories of student success against all odds posed by living in an inequitable, race-based society.

A Book to Ponder
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-19
This book is a fascinating mix of direct and indirect communication. The book's basic points are made directly
by its coauthors and then exemplified indirectly by the vignettes provided by an interesting assemblage of their
former students. The coauthors' arguments are clear and unlittered with academic jargon. (For example, what
academics would call "intertextuality" is discussed without invoking the guild's current buzzword.) Many of the
brief student contributions are surprisingly moving.

In characterizing one of Tommie Lindey's emphases, a student writer (Joseph Riley Whitfield Jr.) in fact aptly
describes the book: "...a complex message delivered in common language [that] does not lose its sense of
the profound."

My advice to readers would be to read each of the "five truths" sections, breaking off reading after each to ponder
what it means for them. Considered and pondered, the book has practical and uplifting messages that have made, and will make, a difference.

Great book. 3rd in a series of 3 that reviews a few issues brought up as a result of writing his first book "it's your ship". Regardless of the fact that you are in a leadership position or not, this books provide the individual with the basic building blocks that all individuals should strive to achieve.

There are countless leadership books available, and many of them simply repackage the old chestnuts in a new context or apply new terminology to the same principles. Michael Abrashoff somehow manages a different take on leadership. His success in turning around a ship and making it the pride of the fleet gives him credibility, as does his willingness to make the right decision even in the face of the unforgiving military promotion machine, recognizing that he was signaling the end of his rise through the ranks. Abrashoff's compassionate but firm style would serve many leaders well, regardless of their field. "It's Our Ship" an easy but provocative read and well worth the time.

Finishing this book, I thought, it's ok. Fundamental advice, nothing too innovative, well told: treat your people well; make sure even those with tough jobs get your appreciation and understand you know that their job requires skill like any other( Abrashoff tells of visiting on a regular basis the sole sailor responsible for the ship's waste); train your people to be good and then delegate to them; make sure you understand that people are always looking at what the leader says and does. and take their cue accordingly. But, on reflection, the book is much more, although not apparent. It really is a story of a guy who worked for an organization that is rigid, with often pointless rituals, and arrogant leadership. That is, the Navy. The real narrative and book value is how he managed well in this environment. By way of example, his evals of his officers were forced ranked a la Enron, and made or broke careers, pitting one officer against another and making it harder to manage, not easier( so he told them I can't change the system but I will help you transition to civilian life by getting you marketable assignments). Great section on how to decide how much risk to undertake and deciding what is worth a risk. For those stuck in this type of organization, the books speaks to you. Take a read.

IT'S OUR SHIP

Review Date: 2008-06-25
I'm a big fan of Captain D. Michael Abrashoff's leadership methods and his books. His latest, IT'S OUR SHIP - The No Nonsense Guide to Leadership is the third in a series based on his command tour aboard USS BENFOLD (DDG65) and building on his experiences with leaders in the business world. In this third book, I see Michael's growth as an author and as a leader. The third book includes some snippets from the story outlined in his first best seller - IT'S YOUR SHIP. Sure to be a best seller in its own right, IT'S OUR SHIP provides a great blend of Michael's own story with those of other proven leaders in the business world. These are stories worth telling and Michael tells them exceedingly well. In his latest book, he takes you back to USS Benfold, then to The Container Store, Pitney Bowes, Aflac, 1-800-GOT-JUNK and many other commercial enterprises before ending where he started - USS BENFOLD. From each enterprise, he brings together their leadership lessons with his and demonstrates that these principles work in every environment. All it takes is "collaboration" - the key word in this book.

I come at the three books (the second was GET YOUR SHIP TOGETHER) from a different perspective and much more critical eye than most readers. I was commissioned the same year (1982) Michael was - though from Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island rather than the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. We both assumed command in 1997 (though my command was a shore command) and we both worked for the Secretary of Defense (though mine was Donald H. Rumsfeld - as fine, patriotic, and honest a man as ever served (twice) in that demanding position). When I assumed command, I was taking over for an interim caretaker Commanding Officer who was nurturing a command back to health after two failed Inspector General inspections (somewhat like the Operational Propulsion Plant Examination that USS BENFOLD had failed before Michael assumed command). I know first-hand the challenges of command. I retired as a Navy Captain in 2006 with a career spanning 30 years of service as an enlisted Sailor and a commissioned one. I am a Navyman. I fully appreciate the context of his books and the purpose for which they were written. Read these books, apply the principles and watch your people grow, succeed and surpass your expectations.

I know that the leadership principles that Michael outlined in all three books work. They work extraordinarily well, when properly employed. They worked for him, they worked for me, they work for Commanding Officers at sea and ashore today, and they will work for you. Captain Abrashoff is a masterful leader and brilliant storyteller. I've gone back to do some research and can't validate that "virtually all 310 Sailors were deeply demoralized" or that "clearly his (the former CO's) leadership had failed", as Michael has described the situation. I say this, because statements like these are toned down a bit in his second and third books, which shows Michael's growth as both author and leader. While this over-dramatization tells a better story, Arleigh Burke destroyer Sailors are the cream of the crop of surface Sailors. Michael started off in a far better position than a reader might otherwise think, though he and his crew faced significant challenges and overcame them together to achieve remarkable successes by any measure.

Commander Abrashoff assumed command of a nearly new Arleigh Burke destroyer and inherited a crew that suffered the natural trials and tribulations of pre-commissioning a ship and `bringing her to life.' The truth of the matter is that three of the officers under the former CO and the former CO himself are all Navy Flag officers today - the enlisted Sailors of that first crew went on to enjoy great success as well. The first CO of USS BENFOLD was certainly doing something right and continues to do well on active duty today. I think it's more a matter of different approaches to leadership - there are many ways to effectively command an Arleigh Burke destroyer.

I give you my own insight so that you understand fully that there is no doubting that Commander Abrashoff's approach is successful - and he fills you with genuine confidence that you can be equally successful (that in itself is a sign of a good leader). Leaders everywhere would do well to make his three books a part of their libraries - but only putting them on the shelf after they have devoured every word. I remain a student of leadership and Michael's books have contributed greatly to my education. I could have used them at the start, in the middle and at the end of my Navy career. I read and reread them today. And I will, again, tomorrow. I hope you'll join me. You will not regret it.

Reverting back to my comments on Mr. Daily's( Tax Savvy For Small Businesses) and Mr. Kamoroff's(A Small time Operator)reviews, this book coupled with the two previously mentioned books, should provide an outstanding foundation to start off with, as far as what you should and must do to operate a small business when it concerns your tax liability.

This books concentration is based more on past precedents passed down by both the Appeals Courts and the Tax Courts, and what procedures can and cannot be implemented. Gives specific instruction in accordance with the IRC code, to follow and to determine what can be done to legally lower your tax liability.

This book is more legally technical than both books I mentioned above. While Daily's book gives you general examples of accounting procedures and legalities, Kamoroff book gets into the nuts and bolts of accounting procedures, along with a step by step guide to implement those procedures. These 3 books should be on every entrepenuer's shelf, for future reference and procedures.

Jill Prescott's Ecole De Cuisine is primarily a book for her fans: those who've seen her on tv and have seen enough of her to interpret her "wit" as indeed, wit, and not blatent food snobbery. Those who have not yet matched voice, expression and personality to the text, will likely be left out in the cold. Even having watched the show a couple times, I found myself having to set aside my irritation with her tone to get ahead to the recipes.

Jill does indeed know what she's been taught, does it well, and teaches it well. Her book is well put together, the organization great, presentation lovely... sturdy, reliable French Technique, the recipes solid. However, those who are fans of Julia Child and Jacques Pepin will find it redundant and lacking the earthy "come into my kitchen and make yourself at home" hospitality of their writing. You are clearly on one side of the table with Jill and you are there to learn, not contribute.

A word to the wise: if you're dieting or on a cholesterol or any other special needs diet, this is not the book for you. It is not designed to work around any dietary needs, but to present French Cooking in it's traditional (and best) form: rich & without skimping on the fat.

Wow! What an awesome cookbook. I'm a collector who actually uses my cookbooks, and I have to say this is one of my most used cookbooks by far! I found this in a bargain store and I have to say it is definitely worth buying even at full price! The chicken breasts stuffed w/pine nuts and spinach was awesome, and is the favorite of my childrens meals including the pickest child of all! I used the filling as an appetizer in pie crusts that I made into cresents..also very good (served w/a mustard dipping sauce)!
The Pork chops w/carmalized apples, calvados, cider and cream..mmmmmmm! I tried w/apple brandy to make sure we liked it before splurging on the imported Calvados,..MY SUGGESTION..go ahead and splurge the first time around, you won't be disapointed! My kids liked the reduction better before adding the cream, but both were delicious!
There are so many fun and delicious recipes in this book that are so easy you will impress your friends and family with these recipes! I can't wait for Jill Prescott's next cookbook. She also has a website you can check out! :) If I lived closer I would be taking her cooking classes.

I recently purchased this book after watching Jill Prescott on PBS in Fort Meyers. I LOVE the book as much as the show. The directions are clear and easy to follow. I am making sauces with stellar results. I have had so many failures due to bad instructions. I feel that this book is well written by an expert that has a solid knowledge of her craft. She even wrote back to me after I emailed her on her website with a question that I had about something she did on a show. This is one of my favorite books. EVERYTHING turns out! It's packed with good information. Jill doesn't talk above the novice but makes it easy for us to learn.

HIS DESCRIPTION OF HIS MANY KNEE INJURIES HAD ME WINCING AND MY KNEES WERE HURTING JUST READING ABOUT THE PAIN HE ENDURED THRU OUT HIS CAREER. AN AMAZING MAN WITH SUCH A TOLERANCE FOR PAIN. HIS RETELLING OF EARLY RAIDER DAYS WAS VERY NOSTALGIC. I ENJOYED HIS COMMENTS ABOUT LYNN SWANN AND VARIOUS OTHER FORMER PLAYERS AND OWNERS. Jim Otto's injuries have left him a pitiful cripple, in constant pain, who can't do even the simplest physical tasks that normal people take for granted. He will probably die soon from their aftereffects, in fact should have died from them several times already. We know this because he says so, while matter-of-factly stating that, if he had it to do over again, he would do things exactly the same?! I don't get it, and even if I did get it I wouldn't approve of it--if there is anything worth putting yourself through this kind of hell for, it is surely not the fleeting "glory" of the football field. In spite of, or maybe because of, all this, the book is endlessly readable and interesting--his hardcore masochism holds the same kind of strange fascination that makes people watch car wrecks (and football games, I suppose). It helps that Otto comes across as very likable, even admirable in his way--honest, conscientious, and of course dependable. Even if at times he seems to be rather, um, stupid.

Reviewer: Bisoneyes from Redditch, Worcestershire United Kingdom
Jim Otto. The Pain of Glory is a book that covers Otto's life to date, but pays particular attention to the early years of the storied NFL club the Oakland Raiders.

Beginning with his poor childhood in rural Wisconsin, the book tracks Otto's progression to college, and on to the NFL. It outlines Otto's determination to succeed when all about him were telling him he was too small to play college football at the centre position, let alone go on to the Pro game.

Once at the Raiders the book highlights the painful beginnings for the club, and the struggles Otto overcame to become an All Pro centre. Otto's obvious love for the club and for its owner Al Davis shine through the pages. Along with this Otto highlights the key players with whom he played football with and tells some great stories about the likes of Ben Davidson, Kenny Stabler and other Raider greats.

He speaks out in the book against the modern NFL and the attitude of the player and their agents. He rages against the inclusion of players he consider unworthy of selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but whose busts stand side by side with his. Finally he lambasts the NFL who called him a liar.

Most movingly though Otto speaks of the 'Pain of Glory'. About the untold operations he has had on his once primed body, which is now giving up on him as he pays for the success he enjoyed in ways he probably never thought of. This section is an emotional, insightful and tragic commentary on professional football.

In summary 'The Pain of Glory' is a superb reflection on an exemplorary career. Its a must read for all Raiders fans, and those interested in the NFL.

Excellent reference for supply chain improvement

James Martin's book, "Lean Six Sigma for Supply Chain Management: The ten step solution process", is an excellent resource. It is written for supply chain professionals to explain six sigma process methodologies and how they can be applied to improving real business processes.

Mr. Martin does an excellent job of pulling together a broad set of information to explain these quality improvement methodolgies and how these can be applied to supply chain processes. He has created a great reference. This is the type of book that you want to read while your working on a process improvement project. The concepts are directly applicable.

This is most definitely a book for Supply Chain and Operations Management practitioners. If the reader is looking for a high level review of the subject matter, I would not recommend this book. This book is a serious, dense study of the material with practical applications and techniques.

Of the various industry texts that I have read, this is probably the "slowest read" mostly because there is so much content and meaning in each section. At the same time, the book design is modular so that the practitioner may skip chapters and study just their focus area. Mr. Martin definitely displays his expertise with fluff-free, accurate, and useful information. A must read for people serious about transforming their supply chains.

For me this book provided exceptional details with which to get your supply chain failures and problems under control. The section covering "Root Cause Analysis" presents the reader with detailed descriptions and examples of analytical methods useful for evaluationg the data associated with the supply chain process. The book demonstrates the myriad of elements that can run the supply chain process into a company quagmmire. This reader felt quite familiar with a number of the typical sins that cause supply chains to malfunction at the most crucial times in a company's commitment to a timely delivery process.

This teaching resource is definitely a keeper! My kinders loved making their own alphabet books. I copied the letters onto tagboard. Then, the kinders completed their letter art projects. Next, I cut the letters out and glued them to another piece of tagboard. Underneath the letter, the students completed a fill in the blank statement about each of the letters related to the art projects they completed. Finally, all of the letters were bound into a book. Wow! The kinders loved reading and sharing their books over and over with each other! This resource was a wonderful reading, writing, and tactile experience all in one! It's important to note that there's flexibility if you want to change what each letter stands for when you complete the art projects and there are additional teaching tips for each letter too!

As a childcare provider I love this book it is a creative way to learn the alphabet a great resources if you make up your own curriculum. You may photo copy it for many years of use instead of purchasing a boxed curriculum every month for a certain number of children. Parent's are always interested to see what their children have learned. With each letter of the alphabet it is always different and interesting. But most important children have fun as they learn.

I'm a teacher, and I have to say that this is a great book! I love how it breaks down activities by letter and also gives lesson ideas, too! It's very user-friendly!

Great for Pre-k!

I used this book with my 2004-2005 Pre-K class. It's very easy to incorporate the lessons into your daily/weekly calendar. My students particularly enjoyed the letter bag game (put mystery items into a pillowcase that begin with the letter you are teaching. Pass it around and have the children grab out 1 item and try to guess what it is). I incorporated it into show-n-tell Fridays. IE: Bring in something that starts with letter B. I would put those show n tell items into the letter bag & the kids loved seeing their item pulled out of the letter bag by other children.

Be sure you collect the work pages in an organized fashion because at the end of the year, you'll find yourself overwhelmed! I'd recommend creating the books as you go rather than at the end of the school year. I used pipe-cleaner to bind my books and it worked quite well.

I will use this book again!

Losse Balls is funny and thoroughly entertaining book about the old
American Basketball Association. It covers all the individuals involved
in the forming of the league, its quirky players and all the stats
during its existence. For those who like basketball, its a great read.

Great Read, Facinating History

I can't recommend this book highly enough. I love basketball to death but have the misfortune of coming of age in the late 90's, well after the holy trinity of MJ, Bird, and Magic and WELL after the ABA.

This book is an oral history that gives some amazing insights as to how things were before the world of cable and internet and before the NBA was the marketing juggernaught it is today. It is also full of ridiclous stories about players, coaches, fans, and owners. It is facinating to see what aspects of the ABA resonate in todays NBA. Though some of the book is dated (the book was written in 1990) in terms of how things are relayed to the reader, the essense of the book has and will continue to hold up very well.

Best Sports Book Ever.....Probably So

What can I say about Loose Balls that has not already been said??...Probably nothing...There is a reason why Sports Illustrated ranked this book Number 13 on the Top 100 Sports Books of alltime and why it is still in print 18 years after first coming out....That reason is it's a great book that is the definitive history of the ABA and at the same time has you literally laughing out loud at times...I had more laughs reading this book than I do at most movies....Most people in other reviews have noted the principals like Fly Williams...Marvin "Bad News" Barnes....John Brisker..Pat Boone.. Julius Erving..etc..etc so I won't rehash or spoil the tales but they are memorable because they are true....Pluto's genius in putting this book together was that he let the principals tell their stories and he just put them on paper in an orderly format and let the story tell itself...No need to do anything else...I was pretty young during the ABA Days so I only remembered a little about it,but after reading this book I felt like I was there for all 9 years of the ABA....I can't recommend a book any more than I do this one...Buy this book...you will not be able to put it down once you start and I guarantee you will get a ton of laughs

Funny, Funny Book

One of the funniest books I have ever read. Great stories told by the players themselves. The pre-packaged NBA in its current form has nothing over the ABA and its love of the game.

Pluto, as always, does a great job in putting it all together. Highly recommended.

This book is a sports gem. The wild ride of the American Basketball Association from inception to its eventual collapse and NBA absorption of the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets and New Jersey Nets.
The book is divide into 3 parts.Opening Gambits, Middle Game and Endgame.
The first part deals with the origins of the league from the hiring of its first Commisioner, George Mikan and the idea behind the red, white and blue basketball and the struggles of early ABA teams to stock their rosters to a great section on The Indiana Pacers, one of the leagues best organizations. Everything is told in a series of stories told by the people involved. It is a credit to author Terry Pluto's reporting skills and ability to edit that makes this so enjoyable.
Part 2 deals includes a lengthy section about the greatest player to come out of the ABA, Julius Erving. The Doctor must have been a wonder to behold in his early years as he is spoke of in awe by teammates, opponents, and coaches. Also the many stories of the often bizarre characters that inhabited the ABA are priceless in and of themselves.Of which the reader will often find themself laughing out loud. The section on The San Antonio Spurs is enjoyable in that you learn the humble origins of the current NBA dynasty.
Part 3 covers such franchises as the Kentucky Colonels who were considered underachievers until they finally won an ABA championship in 1975. Probably the most entertaining section of the book chronicles the story of the Spirits Of St. Louis. The tales told of this franchise often boggle the mind if one has any isea how professional athletes are expected to act. The antics of Spirits star Marvin "bad news" Barnes are some of the most outrageous I've ever heard of in my life and I've been a sports fan for decades. Great stories of All time great coach Larry Brown and so many others they are too numerous to name.
In the end the massive contracts the ABA gave out became their undoing and eventually forced capitulation to the rival NBA. It is a fun read and you learn so much about so many unheralded ABA players and coaches.

The tips and guidelines of this book helped me not only to build a maintenance management system [aluminum rolling mills] from scratch but also to create a CMMS program (database) from where I could print many reports as well as work orders. Athough I have read many many books on maintenance and reliability topics, this particular book helped me to understand and apply the proposed theories focusing on details.

Doc the Guru, its not AMPSB

This is not AMPSB (another maintenace planning and scheduling book), when you read this book you can actually feel that you are in the real working world.Doc does not talk concepts he tells what happens in real Maintenance World and how to go to World Class Maintenance Management practices using 6 planning and 6 scheduling principals. I like the way Doc takes a reader through planning and scheduling of maintenance work by examples which makes this book different from other books, you cant find other texts doing this unless you are in the classroom. The Appendix about Work Order System is a million bonus for those who want to develop their SoP (Standart Operation Procedure). I will stick to this book as a reference in the process of developing a World-Class Maintenance Organization.I will also recommend this book to Maintenance Project Managers and Maintenance Management Consultants of any system (take it from me I am in aviation and I am applying his concepts). If you want to start or improve your Maintenance Planning Department START BY READING THIS BOOK.Good job Doc. If the was a 10 star I would have given it a 10star, this is a unique book I have ever read and practical to use.(...)

Hand-on experience is crucial for performing successfull maintenance. It can be only your personal experience or, if you are dedicated to continual learning, you can "borrow" some of hard-to-gain experience from top-class professionals.
Every sentence in this book is illustrated with very concrete examples from real life, and that makes it invaluable. Author has comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of maintenance, and that is visible on any page of this book, so although it is thematically concentrated on planning and scheduling, it can be used by anyone involved in structure of companies' maintenance organisation.
From explaning overall corporate strategy regarding maintenance to decribing every particular day-to-day task of maintenance planner and scheduler, this book guides you through the whole process, in which planning and scheduling are vital subprocesses to bring anything else to life.
Although the book is oriented to explain manual documentation system, you can easily bring described principles in very extensive use of CMMS practice. You can only benefit from broader view that can only tear you off "computer-will-solve-everything" dreams.
Great!

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Handbook

This book provides details not found in others I have read. There is a great section on Wrench Time. I have presented 4 Stars only because I feel that this is not necessarily a book for beginners. A good basic knowledge is needed to interrupt processes and terminology difference between your facility and the book text. The examples presented in the book are designed as for a manual application so you must be able to mentally translate them into the application of your CMMS.

I highly recommend this book, more over, reguardless of current Planning/Scheduling level every Planner and Maintenance Professional should have a copy for quick review. It is our company's point of reference for providing knowledge as we build towards World-Class Planning/Scheduling.

Ideal for all Maintenance Program Designers

Doc Palmer has provided a great tool for all Maintenance Program Designers and others to use. Mr. Palmer has provided good details and examples in the book while also making it as enjoyable to read as it is informative. I highly recommend this book to all who are step one and beyond in Maintenance Management and Development. One of the hardest espects of starting a new maintenance program for a company is often getting management to except the required changes. The Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Handbook helps by often having a ready example or referance to provide a second means to demonstrate to the client the how, why and effect on his bottom line. This reason alone is worth the cost of this book and then some.
Doc Palmer also drives home the truth about CMMS; when to invest and when to wait. This for me is very important for my specialty is designing Preventative Maintenance Operational Programs for the client. Once I have done so the client can invest in the exact CMM software they require. Unfortunatly all too often clients approach this backwards; they buy the program first and then hope someone like myself can make their operation work with the CMM. They end up spending thousands and a lot of their valued time for little reward at the end. If your company is in this position or about to be read this book before you do anything else.

Some great tips for maintaining the space between you and your client as well....enjoy as the real work begins.

If you are a therapist or want to be a therapist this book puts all your fears, concerns and worries into perspective. It actually gave me the strength to feel good about my choice and believe in myself. It empowered me and took away my fears. It helped me realize that being wrong is expected and how to communicate and find patterns to help clients change. This book is easy to read, makes clear common sense and is a page turner right to the end.

I'd bet he is.

First of all, this is an excellently written book. It must have been daunting to try to pull off turning the information he provided into such a imminently readable book. But the author hit it out of the park with his writing abilities, knowledge and expertise. I'll be referring to this book for years.

Cozolino leaves very few stones unturned for the beginning psychotherapist.

So, if you're looking for a primer on psychotherapy, I literally can't imagine a better book to begin with.

Fantastic job Dr. Cozolino.
