This is an excellent introduction to geometric transformations. It is very useful for Competitions such as the AIME USAMO and IMO. Also, it is a great book for those interested in Mathematics.

The Yaglom geometric transformation books are aimed at a mathematical Olympiad audience. The books are not primarily about transformations, they are mainly about how to use transformations to solve problems. Yaglom wrote the book in Russian back in the fifties, presenting geometrical transformations techniques to geometric problem solving. He introduces transformation types and then shows how they can be used to solve problems that otherwise would sometimes be almost unsolvable using elementary (synthetic) methods. Then he presents a set of problems that vary from difficult to fiendish. Full solutions are provided, you will need them. The Russian book has chapters on congruence, similarity and projective transformations that are contained in the three English translations published by the MAA. It continues with sections on inversion transformations that are not (yet?) translated into English.

This is the first of three books, it deals with congruence transformations. Examples of congruence transformations are reflections in a line or in a point and translations (parallel movements). One could make up a set of problems that can be solved by simply applying a convenient transformation, but that is not how Yaglom works. Most problems use one ore more other themes (tricks) besides a transformation. So let this not be your first geometry problem book.

These are great books for problem solving.

This book (first of three) is an excellent step-by-step introduction to some geometric transformations (in this volume: translations, reflections, and rotations) in the synthetic style (i.e., no algebra). The exercises are very good and full solutions are given to all. Lots of drawings to make everything easy to understand.

I'm using this book to 'reintroduce' myself to geometry after being away from the study of mathematics for many years and it is great fun.

As part of the New Mathematical Library it is ideal for the advanced high school student or the enthusiast/amateur (like me).

This is one of the most important books, VM Samael Aun Weor wrote.

In it you can find to tools and exercises needed to develop spiritually, advance along the Path to Liberation, and eliminate all your inner negativity.

Some of it may provoke you or feel like an attack (it isn't), but reflect on the matters, practice the exercises and you will experience for yourself what he's talking about.

This is a must read for any person, who really want to change internally, it is a starting point for internal development. However, this book is to be studied; not read at a thousand miles an hour! Reflect on every passage to grasp the true meaning.

For a long time I was looking for an answer to why I suffered, and why people suffer the way they do. After much longing and searching through all sorts of meaninglessness I eventually came upon this book and it has forever served as the foundation of a great inner work upon myself. The truth is that humanity is asleep and lives in delusion. This book gave me the strength that I needed in order to proove to myself something which the rest of the world completely rejects, ridicules, and even hates. However, the author of this book tells the truth, as it is, because it was his intention to help others, so they too can escape the prison of their own minds.

Read this book. Then study it. Then study it again and again, because it's like a book on sword-training for those who want to take up the fight within themselves. You absolutely need it.

Even if you are unfamiliar with what I am saying, or with Gnosis, read this book anyways, and discover the truth that humanity sleeps; dreams.

Read and see why this is as good a work you'll ever find written on the book and prophecies of Daniel. Can't give it high enough praise. And then you must have the companion volume 2 on the book of Revelation to complete the set.

This book is well written, the information is well documented, and the authors exegesis of Bible passages is in harmony with good Bible Harmenuetics.

With that said, I think that you will find peace, certainty, and a clear understanding of last day events by reading this clear, yet comprehensive book on Bible Prophecy.

The author obviously spent a lot of time researching and documenting the facts that he shares in this two volume series of books on the Prophecies of Daniel and Revelation.

Men and women of all ages, from all church denominations, have attested that once they read this book, their is no doubt that the interpretations given for end time prophecies are accurate.

This book will inspire you, give you greater confidence in the Bible, and will make the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation so clear, that you will be able to teach them to your freinds yourself!

A wonderful look at a number of very special women who are forever entwined with this sacred place.

A very inspirational book and a must for anyone interested in the Grand Canyon. Betty's sense of humor captivated me throughout.

Ms. Leavengood delivers a captivating look at the lives of women who helped to shape the Grand Canyon - not geologically, but culturally. These early explorers helped to open up the Canyon for the millions who would follow, and the author does a great job in capturing the both the appeal of the Canyon and of the women who first made the trip. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the Grand Canyon or the human spirit.

Well chosen content, although Chapter 19 (Multiple Personality Disorder) was not included in my 1997 copy. Not light reading, but a good choice for a general overview.

This and the Casebook of Clinical Hypnosis (same editors) are complete guides to psychological students and scientists. I recommend it but you should read their another articles in journals.

This book explores almost all types of techniques, aplications and researchs in hypnotic procedures. It's a complete guide (if you have Casebook of Clinical Hypnosis) for those who study and use hypnosis in therapy. You can not understand what is hypnosis if you have never read this book. I have heard about this book, but till you actually read it for yourself, hearing about it does not do it justice! I am usually a slow reader, but from the time I opened the first page I was captivated by the "flow" of the story, and the message in it. Before I knew it 2 hours later I had finished the book! Demos Shakarian was truly a messenger from God, his life was centered around the vision God gave to him and he would not compromise on the goal that was set before him. Though God blessed him in the physical realm, it never clouded his judgment or the vision God gave to him. It was truly a remarkable story, about being led by the Spirit of God! This book and Demos's life has been an encouragement in my life!

No human story has built such awe and faith for me. I believe that the generational obedience and worship built into this man and woman a purpose that is truly unusual if not unique in our generation. Certainly the prayers and strength of their home church deserve much of the honor for the achievements accomplished. I heve been blessed each time I read this book.

The Demos Shakarian story is about God's presence in our lives, and the miracles He will perform when we let Him, when we're willing to get out of the way to let Him take over. Mr. Shakarian's story is about a loving God and a loving son, whose heart wants to be in his Father's perfect will, but being human, forgets, and gets in the way. And God waits until he figures that out, steps back, and lets Him lovingly fix everything, often seeing miracles as Father God worked in his life, and in the lives of the people around him. It is a book of hope, of promise, and of love, things we all need and often forget where to go to get them. It was exactly what I needed to read, and I highly recommend it to others.

Most health care professionals are very busy and no one has time to sift through all of the dietary supplement information out there. This book takes a look at 69 of the most commonly used dietary supplements in today's market and looks to see if the science is there to prove a supplement works. I feel it is a very clear and comprehensive guide, as it delves into the currently known research on each supplement.

The book never recommends a particular supplement, or denounces one. Rather it gives a scientific view of each herbal, vitamin, or mineral supplement, reviewing the scientific literature to see which claims are substantiated. Each entry is organized with a brief overview of the supplement, media and marketing claims, food sources, dosage information and bioavailability, research, safety information, a summary, and references. For each study reviewed, the book points out any study flaws such as a small number of subjects, or unblinded researchers. The book also explains the confusing arena of current supplement regulations and even includes a reference chapter with listings of websites, associations, books, and other publications useful for more information.

Since it was written with the help of an American Dietetic Association Panel of Experts, I feel it represents a balanced overview of the supplement scene. This book is a great resource for any health care professional!

Although this book leads you to believe it is only for the health professional, it is very user friendly for the vitamin-hungry lay person. What is really great about this resource book is that it addresses the marketing claims about many supplements that we, John Q. Public, are inundated with, from newspaper and magazine articles or just from our well-meaning relatives or friends who feel free to render a diagnosis and treatment for our lack of energy, immune systems, depression etc. Then for each listed supplement, the author reviews available research and takes some of the confusion out of dosages and whether certain supplements are safe to take with other medications or medical conditions. At last,REAL, RELIABLE INFORMATION backed by a qualified, intelligent nutritionist and the American Dietetic Association. There's a great Summary Table in the back for quick references. Try it. You'll like it.

I found the book to be very informative, easy to follow, well researched, and non-biased. It is a great resource to have on my shelf to refer to for both myself and clients.

This book rather rigoursly breaks down how the S&L crisis occured. It also breaks down some rather technical points and tries to present them in a manner understandable for the reader. I would admit that it may come across as a little dry and detailed for some. On the other hand, those familiar with the technical aspects of the lending and financing topics may find that same material a bit remedial. I do think that this is the best book I have read that addresses the crisis from a policy perspective. It starts with the foundation of the S&L industry and the policies put in place (and in some cases the lack thereof) that lead to its crippling collapse. It does an excellent job of detailing blame/cause but also suggests inevitability at the same time. The author does present, at various stages of the crisis, what-ifs? This presentation was done well as it was 'salted' with the feasibility of implementing these what-ifs at the time.

The author has a gift of constantly putting the various topics and issues into their proper perspective. As an example, the author noted that the outright fraud committed by institutions prior to insolvency was comparatively small compared to the overall number of institutions that were failing and ultimately did fail. I would strongly urge all of those in the policy and regulatory aspect of the financial services industry (even those outside of banking and lending) to read this book as a good primer on causes of financial crises and policy (and political) steps that can exacerbate rather than resolve a situation. As the author points out repeatedly (and with well supported and sounded arguments), the crisis may not have been avoided altogether, however it could have been minimized substantially. Unfortunately, because of lack of political will, lack of technical understanding and a fundamental failure to truly appreciate human nature, the outcome was not inevitable, but doubtless.

I would argue this is a must-read for congressional staffers, policy makers, regulators and any law enforcement agencies whose work involves them in the financial services sector as well as those in middle to upper level management of financial services companies.

I doubt this book sold many copies when it came out in 1991. As Lowy notes the issue is too dull and complex for most people to care about. However his history of such quality -drilling down into the issues and more importantly personalities involved in the scandal- that those with even a passing interest should read this book. Well done!

This is really a great description of the S&L debacle. He explains the roots of the failure (government-set maximum mortgage rates *below* the price of capital), the shenanigans to try to keep the walking dead alive in spite of guaranteed negative returns, plus the overall background of lending for property development. Extremely educational and a great background for the repeat performance happening now in the mortgage lending industry.

I have owned the first edition for over 22 years now. It is the most used volume in my personal library during the last two decades. So comprehensive, so well designed.

At the book's price, it is designed for academic reference but for any reader seriously interested in South Asia it contains a lifetime's worth of historical information. Dynasties, monuments, sacred sites, princely states, battles, invasions, photos of sculpture and archaeological finds, etc. One of the most continually fascinating books I've ever seen.

I bought an early edition of this book, and it has been with me constantly. It remains one of the few indispensable works on South Asia, a truly unique one-volume resource. Many developments in South Asia have their roots in the recent and not so recent past, this provides as good a base to work from as anything I have ever come across. The price of the reprint (assuming the quality of the plates is as good as the original) is inexpensive, even for an individual, given the comprehensive scope of the Atlas.

This book is really good reading. It's practical and contains a lot of real and useful information.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) prints in their textbooks, "Keep this book. You will need it and use it throughout your career." I can testify that that is quite true.

If you work in this industry, buy the book.

The ratio analysis section of this book is very helpful. But this is an older version of the book. I think a new edition of this book may be available.

If Hospitality Finance is your Major, then this book is a must have. Schmidgall is the authority on accounting for the Hotel Industry. This book is used in all of the top Hotel Management programs in the nation including Cornell, MSU, Florida International and etc.

The ratio analysis section is one of the best explainations I have seen to date. I use this book myself and love it.
