Yosemite, magical and mysteriousReview Date: 2000-07-28
To truly reveal the magic that is Yosemite, you must explore it during all the seasons, time and time and time again over the years. Mr. Neill clearly did as this book explores the beauty and uniqueness that is Yosemite through all those seasons, all the weather. With each page memories and enchantment flood the soul as I remember standing in the same spot, but seeing it anew through the magic of his camera, surrounded by the magic of the place. Even if you've never visited Yosemite, you will come away a friend with this book.
I highly recommend it to everyone who visits or considers visiting Yosemite. If you are thinking about a book that represents some of the magic that is nature and the wild in the United States to give to a friend from a foriegn land or someone city-bound, this book will feel like a hike through the woods and some magical place.
William Neill has done it again! Be sure and check out the rest of his wonderful books. I highly recommend "By Nature's Design" and "The Color of Nature" books. His images are timeless.

I highly recommend this book for those heading to Yosemite, want help in remembering a trip, or, for those of you not fortunate enough to have the chance to get there (go-go-go!), you'll read it and book the next flight!

Understanding IslamReview Date: 2002-02-19
The book details the motions and sayings of prayer and includes commentary on their outward and inward meaning. The author is clearly an individual with immense spiritual knowledge, beyond that of ordinary people. This stengthens the insights in the book.
Now, I honestly understand what it means to be a Muslim and begin to understand the profound implications of simple acts of prayer. Truly has changed my perspective on how I go about everything in life.

Not just for diabetics!Review Date: 2008-03-04
The recipes are delicious and real-life friendly. We do not have diabetes in our household, but want to put healthy nutritious foods on the table.
In my view, any recipe that passes diabetic guidelines will keep the appetite satisfied and fuel our bodies appropriately. But most importantly to us, these recipies appeal to our senses in making mealtime a pleasure with foods we want to enjoy again and again.

Smart Storytelling That Truly Entertains Review Date: 2005-10-23
Whatever one makes of the theory behind the writing, there's no doubting the allure of reading and rereading these cover stories, experiencing the reverberations of classical tales and themes while enjoying finely drawn characters in compelling circumstances. Starting with a bold and overtly theatrical retelling of Franz Kafka's classic story, "The Great Wall of China," and ending with an audacious, witty, and just plain fun retelling of Herman Melville's "Bartleby, the Scrivener" (with a wink and a nod to Joyce Carol Oats as well), these short stories do deliver.
Building on the thematic arch from the first two-thirds of the book, the remainder of the book is a novella that follows three characters - a wealthy Marxist from Kansas, a once-famous child star, and a former bassist in a big-time rock band. A virtuoso with dialogue and unconventional twists and breaks, Vadnais weaves a tale about these unlikely colleagues, who are bound to one another through a simple vocation: buying the houses of famous dead people.
In the end, if there's one criticism I have of this book, it's that there isn't more of it. In an age when so many talented writers merely churn out stories with conveyor-belt characterization and cereal-box plot surprises because they fear that readers just won't get it, Vadnais has reclaimed the right to tell smart stories that truly entertain.

Healthy Recipes that actually taste GREAT!Review Date: 2004-06-30
They have a decent array of healthy desserts-many fruit related. What's best about the dessert advice is that they realize fat, to an extent, is essential in baking. Their recipes do some subsitions for fat, such as applesauce in place of oil, but they also recognize that people want to eat chocolate cake. Their recommendation is just to eat less of something that tastes great but is high in fat and calories.
Overall this cookbook (the AMA really)advocates a sensible eating style, offers basic advice on nutrition. You will find both the standard food pyramid and the Mediterranean pyramid but no fad diet advice.
Excellent Book, Bad TitleReview Date: 2002-02-27
As someone trying to control her intake of cholesterol and fat as well as lose weight, this book is a fantastic springboard of ideas and suggestions. Newcomers will find explanations for more exotic names and ingredients, and old pros will learn tips on how to make their favorite dishes healthier. And those of us watching our weight will find caloric and nutritional breakdowns.
My only complaint would be that you have to do a little math to figure out how much a serving is. This isn't too hard to do, though.

For Players, Coaches, and Lovers of the GameReview Date: 2003-10-10
Besides baseball fans, the book is obviously written for coaches and players who want to develop their understanding of the game and improve their ability to react and anticipate in any given situation. Contributors to the book are successful college coaches who, as life-long students of the game, have brought their own experiences and perspectives to this well-written, informative book of offensive and defensive strategies and tactics. Pitching is also explained, from fielding the position to developing mental toughness to developing a plan for getting the batter out.
This book contains a wealth of information for "students of the game". If you play, coach, or just enjoy watching, BASEBALL STRATEGIES can provide valuable information for many seasons to come. There are so many pearls of wisdom, it should be guaranteed to improve the quality of play and understanding of everyone who reads it.

Baseball Strategies: American Baseball Coaches AssociationsReview Date: 2007-01-29
Excellent!!! One of the best all around baseball coaches books....Review Date: 2007-01-09
I have been coaching baseball for 7 years at the high school level and have attended many baseball coaches clinics throughout the United States. I have learned many things at these clinics.
The beauty of this book is that it something that you can continue to reference back to again and again. This book has definitely aided to my players development. From defensive strategies to times to use the run game, this game covers it all.
I have also loaned this book out to other coaches and they have enjoyed it also.
If you are looking to take your coaching to the next level, I highly recommend this book.

Not every photo is a masterpiece, but a high percentage of them are. They are stylized without being candy-coated, like the works of so many other landscape photographers. They condition consciousness so that after looking at them I see even my humdrum little suburb in a new way. This effect is surely due in part to the majesty of the subject, but it is mostly the achievement of William Neill. I revere this book and recommend it to any lover of beauty. Go to Mr. Neill's website and see the pictures for yourself.
