Written by Michelle C. Muratori, Ph.D., an experienced counselor for gifted young adults who enter college early, Early Entrance to College: A Guide to Success is a straightforward guide for young people and their families to the many challenges and rewards of embarking on a part-time or full-time college career one, two, or even three or more years sooner than usual. Chapters address factors affecting academic, social, and emotional adjustment to college, as well as expert views and opinions on early college entrance. Of especial importance are the chapters that stress why some who gain early entrance to college succeed and some do not, and the do's and don'ts to prepare for the transition and keep one's momentum once enrolled. An absolute "must-have" for anyone considering early college entrance, and packed with valuable information for anyone considering college regardless of age.

The Great Courses

This course, taught by Professor Philip Daileader, is an excellent introduction into the Early Middle Ages. It encompasses a period of European history that is sometimes overlooked, but, to me, is key in understanding the rest of European, and Western history, and the religious conflicts that arose during the time.
The course is divided into 2 sections, the first half covers the period from about 300 to 650 AD, and the second half deals with the period from 650 to 1000.
Studying the Middle, or Dark Ages, is crucial in understanding the structure of today's Catholicism and Protestanism.
I recommend it to any serious bible student, although it is NOT a bible lecture series, it's secular.

This book has a great listing of everyday foods and beverages that is easy for the average person to read. The portions are realistic and easy to plan from. Many foods are listed in several forms with calories, vitamins and minerals listed clearly.

I recommend this for any average person that doesnt have the time or energy to research their diet, but desires to be clearly informed.

I received the book after taking a course in nutrition through Washington State University Co-op Ext.

In this book, Amano covers the foundation of the modern Japanese education system. By modern he means the system created when Japan was opened to the west in the 19th century, not the education system as it exists today. It's fascinating to see how the entire system was created during this period of turmoil. While not all of the innovations of this period have lasted to this day, many features have. Amano gives particular attention to the creation of the system of entrance exams, which have cause lots of stress for Japanese students until this day. If you're interested in reading about the history of the creation of this system, this book will provide you with the information you need.

As someone who is working to forge new partnerships in the learning marketspace, I learned a lot from this book. The authors helped me understand some of the key elements to look for in evaluating whether a partnership is worthwhile: bottom line is "an organization should partner as a means to empower learners and enhance its mission." In reaching this bottom line, the book helps you set priorities for partnering and assess your readiness to do so. Best of all, it's a pleasure to read. I finished it in about two hours - time well spent!

George Brown and Madeleine Atkins are both deeply respected researchers and practitioners in this field. Though treatment of each topic is necessarily brief the sections on lectures, small group teaching and research supervision are particularly good. The mnemonics used for example in the section on evaluation, are, perhaps, a little gimmicky; but overall the book is useful.
