This is a highly useful book that presents forty training and development tools, arranged in eight process stages covering initiating cross-functional teams, developing synergy and consensus, creatively solving problems, and recognizing and rewarding teams. The author describes the functions and methods for implementation of each tool, along with an illustration. Lots of illustrations and charts. A solid team-building resource. My favorite baseball team of all time is the Philadelphia Phillies and when I was given the opportunity to review this book there was no way I was passing it up. Filled with the 50 of the greatest players ever to wear the Phillies pinstripes.

From Grover Cleveland Alexander to Richie Ashburn to Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton to Curt Schilling, Lenny Dykstra and Darren Daulton and 43 others you'll be treated to some of the best stories about these players.

Each chapter is about 1 of the 50 players and at the end of each chapter is the statistics while they played in Philadelphia. The list is slightly incomplete, missing greats like Billy Hamilton and Ed Delahanty, but overall the selections are excellent.

One for my personal library, which is grown to over 300 books, this book will be shred with my children and friends for many years to come. There isn't enough words to express my how impressed I am with this book.

This book is filled with a lot of useful and helpful information in "easy to understand" language, especially for beginning freshwater fishkeepers.

This book came about as a result of the hard work of the Boston chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). SABR has a national BioProject underway to write biographies of every person who has ever played the game, or influenced it in any way. SABR Boston chapter member David Southwick came up with the idea of advancing the BioProject's files by undertaking a chapter project to write all the biographies of all the men who played for the 1975 pennant-winning Red Sox. The result of those efforts is this book, which collects the life-stories of every man on the roster, even those who only got one at bat. Many of the players agreed to be interviewed for the project, and the Red Sox opened their archives for photos and memorabilia. The book is beautifully designed with great rare photos and extensively researched by several dozen dedicated writers.

I bought this for the cd single of the Super Bowl Shuffle. The song sounds loud and clear and is the best copy I've been able to find. I'm glad to have another rare 80s song on cd.

This book reads slowly and discussions tend to be dense while trying to be thorough but it is filled with very useful terms, charts, tables, diagrams, photos (B&W), and discussions of acoustic principals that all architects, engineers, and contractors are likely to encounter one day. Many leadership books are on the market with excellent concepts and theories, but the great thing about this book is that it contains real tools, assessments, and ideas any manager can download and actually use immediately to assess their own skills or to use as team activities with their employees. This book is great for those who continually work to develop their leadership skills, but is especially excellent for managers who "don't have time for leadership classes", because they can use the activities on their own with their team during staff meetings, or as "just-in-time" tools as they are needed to help employees deal with change, etc. This is also an excellent resource for those in the HR/leadership development field - the tools can be used on a 1-on-1 basis with a manager, or they could be used within a leadership course.

A very easy read and a step by step tutorial. I ordered the book before buying the software assuming the degree of difficulty was high... if I had to do it over again I probably would have waited because the manual is pretty thorough.

Joint Application Development is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful tools available to analysts and consultants for capturing business requirements directly from the source - the business process owners and subject matter experts. This book is among the best I've come across on the subject and is worth the time and effort to track down.

What I most like is the way this book stays consistently focused on discovering (and uncovering) *business* requirements to be used as the foundation of information systems and applications. The book itself is divided into ten parts, each of which builds on the other to form a coherent approach to conducting JAD workshops and using the product of the workshop sessions as input into the requirements process.

Parts I through III introduce JAD, its underlying concepts and how they relate to business processes. Part IV provides guidelines for developing a business solution, while Parts V and VI guides you through the actual techniques and procedures that will be used in the JAD sessions.

After this point the book quickly picks up the pace and goes directly to the heart of JAD by showing how to capture the business vision and manage changes from the sessions as they [inevitably] occur. It's interesting to note some of the parallels between the approach in Part VI and the Microsoft Solution Framework (MSF). If you are using the MSF this book will add value to your processes because in many respects the approaches are either the same or complimentary.

Parts VIII and XI wrap up the JAD process by thoroughly discussing requirements and specifications, which are the two main products that JAD workshops are designed to capture. The rest of the book is devoted to skills profiles for workshop leaders, an implementation checklist that is invaluable, and excellent advice. I particularly liked the workshop templates, which will greatly aid you in setting up and conducting JAD workshops, and the way that the author guides you through the pitfalls that you will encounter when facilitating these workshops. Follow Mr. Crawford's advice and the time spent in the sessions will be used efficiently and effectively. Follow the approach in this excellent book and you stand a good chance of capturing the right requirements, and ensuring that they are validated by consensus of all stakeholders.
