Running Books

This book seems to cover all the bases for a beginning runner. It has info on everything from getting ready to start running to finishing a marathon. It also has good info on running safely in hot or cold weather and avoiding injuries. There is an 8 week learn to run program, but what I really like are the sections on continuing to improve and become more fit. There is a really nice chart on possible future running goals and the commitment it takes to reach them. Overall a very good book for beginners.

The illustrations are whimsical and the messages eternal! All 127 pages are a pure delight. This is a collection of quotes which bring to mind the shared memories between friends. This tiny treasure is divided into five sections. The introduction describes friendship in detail and then the rest of the pages contain famous quotes or brief passages about friendship.

My favorite quote is: "Happiness is the by-product of an effort to make someone else happy. - Gretta Palmer (b. 1905) American Writer. At this price you can order at least one or two of these books for all your friends. As you can see from the cover picture, this is a brightly illustrated book. Some of the pages also have pastel backgrounds.

Some of the best gifts I have ever received have been tiny books. I put them in my purse and enjoy reading them when I have to wait in line or wait for a table at a restaurant. With this book, it is time well spent.

Our son has all 4 in this series that are available and they have become his favorite which is amazing since he is 3 and a half and has over 100 books in his library. He especially likes them since dad has a John Deere lawn tractor and he has a John Deere Gator and Power Pull tractor.

This book is awesome - I'm planning on buying it for all my friends who are about to graduate. The author builds off the board game Life, and explains how we are faced with opportunities, like those in the game, every day of our lives. It gives you advice on what to do at every turn in the road, from serious things like buying a house or finding a job to how to have a family game night or build a home gym. The book is funny, but also very useful, and the jokes and stories really teach you something about living life.

A beautiful hard-bound book, lavishly illustrated with unique and colorful block prints. There is a lot of room for notes, and this book makes record-keeping a pleasure with the appropriate quotations. This is a very nice change from just blank pages, or those journals with notes & hints which do not necessarily fit one's needs.

"GardenSpells" is a whimsically illustrated little tome who's over 30 charms and spells were gleaned from the journals of the author's great-grandmother, a Victorian "wisewoman".

In this book you will find omens as foretold by "garden creatures", and lists of Zodiac or Angel related plants for growing in your magickal garden.
There are also spells which utilize garden plants such as this (abridged) one for an "Ivy Lovespell":

Written in a clear and concise style, with each of it's 88 pages chock-full of magickal spells and charms, this is THE book for the garden witch in all of us.

Running Fence, with its ironic reference to Christo's famous California art project, is one of those books that will be looked at in 50 to 100 years in wonder. It shows with utter clarity the incoherence and brutality of the US-Mexico border, without in any way resorting to the usual journalistic cliches. The border has all the strange transparency of the early days of the American West. This is the last frontier, seen from both sides, and rendered as a new kind of landscape photography. The light is hot and dusty, the fence a weird, expedient barrier that fits uneasily into a harsh landscape. It starts in the ocean and ends in the otay mountains, with a kind of no mans land on the US side, and a crazy patchwork of factories and home-made houses on the other. Is this what NAFTA is all about?

George Seward is credited with a running the 100 yards in an unbelievable 9 1/4 seconds way back in 1844. Some historians dismiss this time because it was too fast; it was not bettered for nearly 100 years. While Ed Sears has no definitive proof to confirm the mark, he builds a strong convicing case that Seward could have done it. He also writes about Seward's life and running career. It is a very well researched book that will appeal to all sports fans, not just track/running fans. Sears also devotes a chapter to professional running in the 19th century to help the reader get a better understanding of how this sport was done 150 years ago. Just like his first book, Running Through The Ages, Sears does a masterful job of compiling Seward's performances and telling stories about his life. I highly recommend this book!

I didn't think I'd find a political book that made me laugh more than the Hillary Clinton Voodoo Book. But after seeing that the same author wrote this I checked it out and I'll be danged, it was even funnier.

W. is an easier humor target to be sure. But the book doesn't come at him from the usual angles. Lots of surprising and very funny stuff.

My only complaint is the pins to stick the W. Voodoo doll with were too small. Seeing the stupid look on the doll's face and reading about all of W.'s failures put into their full and proper and tragicomic context, I wanted to stick something at least the size of a knitting needle into it.

my girlfriend loved this. it is in a neat little red box that has a place for a picture. and comes with 4 little books that are fun to read together. good stories and quotes in the books. i would reccomend it.
