I accidentally picked this book up and was delighted with the content. The work focuses on reactive behavior and proactive ways to take accountabiity for ones behavior. It is so simply understood that it is easy to implement the principals in life and work. I found it to be very enlighting and useful within my work of coaching, and inspiring individuals to become more of who they already are. It is very inspiring and makes one believe they can apply the values to everyday behavior.

A five star must have for the erotic library especially for those readers that enjoy getting their just deserts in the end .... mostly if not exclusively ... LOL

In Finishing School our hero, is the assistant master in a residential French boarding school for young ladies to receive their tutoring. Seeing as to how the Vitorians loved to see diligent spankings and back door you know what this book is probably the very best enjoyed by the reader. Our hero certainly knows how to draw a fine line between the discipline and the seduction. The writer persues his story from the mans' point of view one never really gets an impression of whether the girls were really enjoying themselves or were just resigned to allowing our hero to dominate them so that they could avoid the inevitable physical punishments that seem to have been normal and accepted at these Victorian boarding schools ......

One of the better of the Blue Moon series this 1990 editon also has a 28 page afterword written by our friend Mr. Richard Manton. Unfortunately much of it is just a teaser for the book Finishing School ....

Fire: Short Stories

A Great Collection

Lisabet Sarai is one of my favorite erotica writers. From the anthology Sacred Exchanges to the classic Raw Silk, her stories have that dream quality that makes the rest of the world go away. As I read, I become aware of my body. Aware of my breathing. Arousing stuff.

I'll ignore the easy puns about the title story, Fire. (okay, one. Scintillating.) The hardest thing to convey in a fetish story is the sexual connection, but Lisabet brings you inside the mind of a man with a fire fetish and lets you feel the attraction. Creepy? Yeah. Enjoy the chills.

Butterfly is one of those stories where you ache for the main character. He denies himself happiness because he can't get past the one flaw of his seemingly perfect lover. While the end was realistic, I wanted to shake him.

Perception is a great domination and submission story that doesn't rely on any of the trope usually associated with power play. Hot, fun, and refreshing.

Thieve's Honor is about a pickpocket who gets caught in the act by a mysterious man with a proposition. This is one where you just have to go along for the ride. The train sex had me squirming in my seat. If Lisabet is looking for characters to extend into a novel, I vote for these two. The power dynamic is crisp and sassy. And what exactly did he have planned? I love a good caper.

I could go on about many of the stories in this collection. Wednesday Night at Rocky's Ace Hardware Store is what you wish your Wednesday nights were like. Vows is spiritually steamy. Detente - well- let's say that those domestic arrangements would suit me just fine, if I were David. So pick up a copy and enjoy. When Lisabet takes you along, you simply have to trust that you're in the hands of a master.

Fabulous account of a brief running life

Roger Bannister competed only eight years in the sport of track and field, but what a legacy he left. Bannister builds up to his historic sub-4:00 minute mile run, the first man to break such a barrier. It's more than just a running book. Bannister writes poetically of his childhood and in great detail of his Oxford years.

Truly a renaisance man, Bannister is one who never puts running ahead of his medical studies and he maintains a balanced life, something most athletes today do not do.

It's really the fantastic writing that moves this book. One would think Bannister is a professional author, not a then-med student/runner. But he eloquently describes the build up to the Olympics and later the sub-4:00 minute mile, concluding with a marvelous recap of his showdown with Landy at the Empire Games in Vancouver.

It's been dubbed by some as the finest running book out there and I'd have to agree with that.

* Apparently the book's name has been changed to The Four-Minute Mile. I think this name is better, but it's still great writing.

We want to run a marathon now!

I read this book to my six-year-olds and they were spellbound. By the end of the story I was bawling, but the author did such a wonderful job describing the hero and his courage that they understood why and felt the emotion, too.

I love the story of Phidippides and through this book, my boys now love it. The illustrations are a bit cartoonish, but it holds their attention and doesn't detract from the story. They have asked for it to be read many times and when we go to the gym they 'run a marathon'.

I'm so glad there's a book which makes the courage, bravery and nobility of Phidippides accessible to children. Most teens and adults would enjoy this book as well as it easily explains the story without dumbing it down.

Read it. And then go running!

we just read this book and love it! my 4.5 year old laughed endlessly at the assorted fairies (her favorites were the snot fairy, the belly button lint fairy and the poop fairy). it has all the icky and gross things that interest kids ages 4-8, so it's the perfect picture book. the artwork is fabulous as well.

An absolute pleasure to read .. erotica for the conosoire

This book, like all others from this now deceased author were translated from French in the 1980's from memoirs that recently became public. Anne Marie's books have been translated into many many languages and are timeless in their appeal and eroticism.

Based mainly on the authors', or her friends real life,
and somewhat embellished experiences, I understand that she wrote these books for her own personal erotic gratification. What a marvellous stroke of luck that many of the memoirs have come to light for us to enjoy.

Most, if not all of the authors books deal with games of life and love that the decadent wealthly played incessantly in Paris during the 1920's. The theme of many of the stories seem to invariably involve beautifull and wealthy society women, which, I must say, pretty well have the morals of alley cats, and are
usually on the hunt for men and erotic diversions. For the hunt to be enjoyable, the hunted should usually not be aware of the game and feel that he is the master of his own destiny, what a laugh .... most of the men really don't know what had hit them though they would be lax in admitting to themselves that they
were used and abused at will .....

Many of Anne Marie V books were published in multiple book volumes such as in Scandale D'Amour, we find two very similar books titled 'Mystere D'Amour' which is 320 pages and 'Folies D'Amour' which is 248 pages in length.

Both books are a compendium of short stories each with its own plot, characters and delicious stories of erotic seduction and submission. The author has an innate knack for allowing the reader to quickly identify with one or another of the characters in each story making one feel as though you are a vicarious
participant. BTW Anna Marie Villafranche's prose and descriptions of love scenes can span 10 to 20 pages ... WOW ... as she is a master in drawing out those delicious
sinfull moments. It's not the hump and bump of many of our contemporary authors, thats for sure ....

I had some trouble finding this book and I can assure you it's not leaving my little library of erotic masterpieces any time soon .....

Fascinating Focus on Your Fortune

I loved this book (a gift from my daughter). She knows I really enjoy D. Fairchild's writing. I learned lots from this book about handwriting analysis (I wish he'd do a big book on this, it's a fascinating subject!) and what about numerology? Why doesn't Running Press give him a series about birthdays; he spells out everything and makes it make sense.
My only complaint is that I wish the palmistry section had more drawings. Still, the words are clear.
I'm a big fan of Fairchild's newspaper column about Feng Shui ...and his book Healing Homes- Feng Shui: Here & Now. I'm sad this book is out of print now. Why on earth doesn't his publisher bring us a new version of this FS delight?
I recommend this title for anyone who wants to learn all the bare bones about a quartet of fascinating fortune-telling avenues. Buy one for a friend. Bravo!

This series is like Law and Order, but ten times better. Michael Kitchen is an amazing actor -- understated but persistent and thoughtful, he solves mysteries throughout the war. Along the way one learns so many interesting bits of history about Britain during the war. Watch it now! You won't regret it.
