Fabulous!

Review Date: 2007-01-23
I moved to Manhattan two years ago to begin my first post-collegiate job. I ran competitively in college and thought that running would be the easiest, not to mention most convenient, way to stay in shape once I had entered the working world. However, I ran into one problem...well, maybe two, or three, or four. It's dark before work and it's dark after work. It's too cold, too hot, and/or too cozy under my covers. Without my college teammates expecting me at practice, the motivation to get out and run was less than lacking. Walking past the Barnes and Noble in Lincoln square, I noticed a copy of The Chelsea Piers Fitness Solution in the window. I had heard of Chelsea Piers, but never really took the time to explore its offerings. So, I went into Barnes and Noble and browsed through the book. Needless to say, I bought a copy. I've also done some research on the Chelsea Piers website to find classes for the sports that seem to best match my personality and found out that the Field House at Chelsea Piers offers evening adult gymnastics and rock-climbing classes for all levels. So, it turns out you don't have to be a kid to enjoy exercise and make physical fitness fun! I definitely recommend this book for anyone who's sick of the treadmill and is ready for a change to make this year's New Year's resolution stick.

Great Easy Activities for Montessori at Home Taught by Mom
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2002-04-04
This was recommended to me by a montessori teacher soon to develop his own website. The book is truly great for the at home mom. The activities are simple but do the same job as the ones in the school and everything is explained. How to make the materials and exactly how to deliver the lesson. It also has a great bibliography with many ideas. This book should be reprinted it is very useful and does not overwhelm the mom that does not have the montessori training the teachers have. Great to prepare your child while waiting to get into a school.

This guidebook satisfies individual and national interests.
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1996-08-26
The U.S is populated by far too many overweight and under- exercised children. It is a personal and national concern. The Joyce Rankin book provides everything needed to begin a running program that could change all this--creating fit youngsters who become healthier, active, more productive adults. The program also builds confidence, so needed as children approach adolescence. Adults who run, who teach, or who simply care about kids should read this book and plunge ahead. They might learn something. And they'll surely have fun.

Chocolate Dreams

Chocolate makes otherwise normal people melt into strange states of ecstasy. ~John West

"Chocolate: The Exquisite Indulgence" presents a brief history of chocolate and explains how Belgian chocolatiers created an "even more sensuous experience." Would we have ever tasted chocolate in all its potent pleasure if it had not found its way to Europe as a beverage?

Page after page displays quotes, art, recipes and tiny bits of information to inspire complete chocolate lust.

While this book will only whet the appetite for more information, it is an adorable gift to give with a box of chocolates and your love.

Get ready for the ride!

Review Date: 2006-07-07
Not a light read, but a rare, brutally honest baring of a soul. Through "lessons earned" and the "insight of hindsight" the writer leaves us (clergy, congregations, judicatories) to be the judge. This is a story of contemplation, condemnation, and rejection, change of course, redemption, sanctification - if we're lucky that's our own story, too! Get out your journal and get ready for the ride!

This is a beautiful book. Not only does it have illustrations of a Victorian Christmas, it also has the lyrics to twenty one different Christmas carols.

This is an excellent book for anyone who loves beautiful illustrations, or is looking for a small book featuring the lyrics to some of the most loved Christmas carols.

Non Fiction or Fiction... that is the question

This is a must read. I have lived in Los Angeles for 20 years. When I first picked up the book I thought "humm... let's read some good fantasy trash." Boy was I wrong. I knew the places and the people. Read about what really goes on in Los Angeles. Kent's ability to describe is excellent. You see, hear, taste and smell all of the images. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.
