Trail Running at its best!

This book offers up a fantastic, old-school approach to trail running. There's a great section on the history of trail/adventure running, a fairly simplified section on what gear you need and how to train, and a lengthy section describing the 100 best trail runs in North America. The 100 best runs are mostly fairly long (20+ miles in length) and the ones that I have done myself really are the best runs in Washington and BC.

This is NOT a training book or a beginner's book, but it is a great how-to book that gives you what you need to get out there and do some fun, epic runs!

I was looking for a comprehensive treatment of the Robin Hood legend that was both highly literate and child-friendly (and for me "child-friendly" normally involves beautiful illustrations). This is it! The story is engagingly-written without being at all "dumbed down", and the illustrations are simply gorgeous. The narrative is also, for the most part, broken up into portions that lend themselves to bedtime reading. Am so happy with this "find"!

My son isn't motivated by reading. He's a 7 year old boy who loves fishing
or anything to do with the out doors. In he's own words. "This book is awsome" I like the way it's set up an elementary level story then instruction area explaining the equipment and at the end a fishing diary.
This way it keeps everyone involed.

This is a fantastically entertaining book made complete by original research and the humor of the author! I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in military or maritime history, the 1920s or pirates. The book contains some fascinating pictures and it is obvious that the author has some expertise in the subject he has written about. I loved this book and I couldn't put it down!

What a collection!

This book collects almost all of the uncollected Lenny Bruce writings from magazines such as the Realist and Rogue, as well as his booklet "Stamp Help Out". The material isn't always agreeable, but it is almost always funny.

Bruce was never completely in his element when writing, but he has moments of brilliance.

If you are a Lenny Bruce fan, then find this book and buy it!

My favorite alphabet book. My 20 month old insists on reading it every day - I haven't told her its a 'coffee table book for adults' yet (see book description). A true master of the linocut print.

My daughter Holly asked me to list a few books that she had on [...]. When I went to list this book I was amazed to discover that this specific printing was not available at all. I presume that the cover illustration by Julie Scott has caused some sort of controversy -- a cartoonish caricature of a Latino with angel wings, striking a pose with doubled fisticuffs, and one raised eye that is cautiously peering over a shoulder. Did I mention the "black" tatoo of a cross on his right bicep (we all know the origin of "black" tatoos, don't we!) You may have to look high and low for another copy of this edition. Or look no further and get this sole (or should I say "solomente"?) offering.

anyone who enjoys "The Fantasticks" should enjoy this book. I find it hard to put down. It's full of interesting background information about Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt and the people who made the show happen, and is written in an engaging manner that is easy to read. I'm sure I will be reading it more than once.

This is a great coffee table book -- lots of beautiful pictures of our country, people can look at it, read the short passages, put it down, pick it up again later. I will keep this book for a long time.

The two Treasure Chests I have enjoyed with my nieces are the Great Plains and the Egyptian Mummy. They are both excellent; stimulating and so fun you can't help wanting to learn more. The Mummy was popular on account of embalming the organs and wrapping the body but the Great Plains has more "games" like decorating the tipi and the buzzing wheel. Definitely the beading loom is the best part of either one. The children feel real achievement after completing the projects and I have a wonderful time too. I can't wait to do another one. Perhaps the Vikings.
