This author took what a computer was when Macs first came out and clearly demonstrates why a computer rocks as a digital creation tool. A excellent find and gem if you can find it.

Cool Mac Runnings...

Wow,

First, I have to state how saddening it is that NO one has entered a review before this. This is one of the most creatively cool Mac books ever made. Let me tell you why: The copyright date on my book (1st printing) is 1986. This means Michael Green likely started working on this in 1984 or '85, the year of the very first Macs. (As a student at Drexel university, I was very fortunate to receive one of the first 128K Macs -- before they went on sale to the public.)

But enough, what it REALLY means is that all or nearly all of this book is done in pure black and white -- and it's mostly illustrations. The amount of creativity Green plugs into a 512K Mac is mind-BLOWING. This book exudes so much effortless cool, I'm tempted to try resting it against my head on a hot Florida day.

Bottom line: If you think you've seen everything that can be done with just B&W dots, if you'd like to experience (or re-live) hanging ten on the screaming edge of one the coolest technological revolutions, or if you'd just like a sweet, cheap source (LESS than $7 -- shipped!-- from Amazon as I write this) of B&W creativity, BUY this book.

PS: Green is still at it today: Plug this "One Song: A New Illuminated Rumi" or this: 0762420871 into Amazon's search bar to see one of his latest works.

A Guide to Meditative Running

This book is a short, quick read and ,yet, is truly a profound expression of the "state" of a run. It's definitely laced in a 70's style (linguistically), but remains timeless. It is a book for people who want to go for a run and not have to worry about getting somewhere. I have treasured this book for 32 years and am glad to see it still available

AN OLD FRIEND
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2007-10-02
I bought my copy of this one in 1975, shortly after it's publication. My old copy is about worn out. This is a very quick read with some beautiful black and white photographs. The writing is right out of the late 60s and early 70s. My wife calls it my "Hippy Running Book." It is quite, for me, inspirational and that is what it was written for. I have to laugh at times. I see (and am passed) by the younger crowd now, wearing their expensive running shoes, running clothing, running watches, running heart monitors, running glasses, running water bottles, running snacks, etc., etc., and wonder "why?" I know I am getting old but do hope I never loose the spirit this book so well voices and the spirit in which we all ran in those past days. Recommend this one to all serious runners and all not so serious runners, at least those that do not take themselves all that serious.

This book has, all in one place, tons of ideas for what to do with a group of kids. Many are familiar favorites, and many are new to me. How helpful to have a place to look when you need to entertain kids in a positive, active way!

Finally--A Unique, Lighthearted Book on Sex!
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2004-01-21
This is one of the better sex books I've read. There are actually some original ideas in it both for men as well as women, and the writing is bright, sensual, and funny. The erotica book is pretty good, too, and the kit is a great gift for Valentine's or a bridal shower. You can get it as a gag gift for someone, but I'll bet they end up using it for real. I love the packaging, and it has so many fun little items in it - the cards are especially great, and the massager is a nice plus for the price. I'm really glad I purchased this. ...

So Adorable
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-07-25
If you have been looking for a tiny address book to carry with you in your purse or pocket, this is an excellent choice. The adorable size does not mean you will have no place to write. In fact, there are only two entries per page, allowing for name, address, phone and e-mail. The picture on the front can be changed and you can insert a picture of your favorite person, pet or nature scene. The durable cover and little pen makes this a practical and useful address book that may also be given as a gift. A ribbon bookmark is included so you can keep the location of your most frequently dialed phone numbers highly accessible. Of course you could put them in speed dial, but what fun would that be? Another use for this book is to fill it with addresses so when you are on vacation, you can easily send out postcards.

Trail Running at its best!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-09-11
This book offers up a fantastic, old-school approach to trail running. There's a great section on the history of trail/adventure running, a fairly simplified section on what gear you need and how to train, and a lengthy section describing the 100 best trail runs in North America. The 100 best runs are mostly fairly long (20+ miles in length) and the ones that I have done myself really are the best runs in Washington and BC.

This is NOT a training book or a beginner's book, but it is a great how-to book that gives you what you need to get out there and do some fun, epic runs!

I was looking for a comprehensive treatment of the Robin Hood legend that was both highly literate and child-friendly (and for me "child-friendly" normally involves beautiful illustrations). This is it! The story is engagingly-written without being at all "dumbed down", and the illustrations are simply gorgeous. The narrative is also, for the most part, broken up into portions that lend themselves to bedtime reading. Am so happy with this "find"!

Adventures with Johnny. Ice Fishing
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-10-09
My son isn't motivated by reading. He's a 7 year old boy who loves fishing
or anything to do with the out doors. In he's own words. "This book is awsome" I like the way it's set up an elementary level story then instruction area explaining the equipment and at the end a fishing diary.
This way it keeps everyone involed.
