A Joy to Read

This one is destined to be a trout fisherman's classic! Pithy descriptions, exceptional humor and delicious details make this book both fun to read and a piscatorial adventure to put alongside Walton, Bergman, Gierach, Wulff, Grey, and others of similar stature. Next to fishing, fly fishermen love to read about their sport and this tome provides a great escape into fine writing and fun fishing tales. And be sure to follow up with Mr. Montgomery's "Many Rivers to Cross: Of Good Running Water, Native Trout, and the Remains Of Wilderness."

The best book on fly fishing for trout I have read!

I have fly fished for over forty years, and although there are many excellent books on the subject, I keep this one on my night table. I've lost count of how many times I've read it! Mr. Montgomery is the real article. I found myself nodding in affirmation page after page. This book is a treat for anyone interested in trout or flyfishing. There has been a lot of hype about flyfishing for trout since "A river runs through it" was made into a movie. This book cuts through all the crap. This man knows trout! an excellent read

We Are Girls Who Love To Run is a bilingual English/Spanish children's picturebook, told in first-person perspective by young girls who enjoys running for health and for fun. "I am beautiful. When I smile, my eyes sparkle, and my spirit glows for the world to see. Freckles parade across my face. My arms and legs are graceful as I circle the track." Far more than a standard picturebook, We Are Girls Who Love To Run encourages finding joy in life through exercise, and impresses the value of self-confidence rather than allowing oneself to become obsessed with unrealistic Hollywood ideals of beauty. The colorful illustrations, done in a soft yet realistic style, show young women from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds experiencing a shared joy in running. A wonderful and uplifting story; the final page has an assortment of true-life quotes from women young and old who love to run.

Bat Boy and a Killer Fur Coat!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2004-06-04
This is a book of postcards that are quite lavishly done all featuring famous headlines from the silliest tabloid of them all. This has everything you could possibly want in a postcard book: aliens, a woman killed by her own fur coat, and, of course, the always wacky Bat Boy!

These are so funny you probably won't want to send them, but the price is right, so buy two! Highly recommended for Bigfoot, Elvis, Bat Boy, and any other creatures in need of highly ludicrous postcards!

A fine postcard collections not for the lending library, but for individuals who love zany humor; many of whom will want to keep the cards for their own collections. Weekly World News gathers tabloid 'true stories' - such as space aliens who return for their baby, or a woman killed by her own fur coat.

Tony is solid. Here he paints the big picture for all of life. This book draws some information from his other writings. This Kingdom Agenda is deep and a total new way of thinking. It is as usual with Tony, biblically correct.

21 very solid pieces of fiction

I wouldn't even limit these stories under the genre or "erotica" myself because they are solid pieces of fantasy, science fiction, contemporary fiction and borderline horror stories. My favorites were: "Rite of Spring," "Halloween," "Bodies of Water," "Just Tell Me the Rules," "Balancing Act," "Storm Rider,"and "Gyndroid". There is no one sexual orientation focused on though maledom and femsub are the most numerous, even those are shown through a fresh lens.

I was lucky enough to find this book on the shelf of a local book store, where I was drawn to it like a comet pulled by the gravity of a planet. I had no idea what the book was about; even upon reading it over again now, I get new meaning from it. White Lines contains biography, story and prose-like writing regarding cocaine. Magnificently it captures the complex facets of the drug from medicinal to maniacle. Aleister Crowley contributes an astounding piece capturing the euphoric richness of the drug. Stephen King and Miles Davis conclusively illustrate the doom imminent cocaine. The book as a whole is a masterfull assembly of writings -- a great job by the editors. I strongly recommend this to anyone who seeks to be moved by story.

The Playboy review was on the money: "Choppy, intense and stings just a bit." I like Zanetti's collections -- they are always supercool and down and dirty, but with a strong literary flavor. This book charts an incredible journey from when coke was perceived to be a 19th century cure all (see Freud) to the dark nose candy it is today. The book covers most bases -- COlumbia, Hollywood, NY in the 80s, crack, Miles Davis --but there's some surprises too: the piece was spooky old Aleister Crowley is new to me and the selections from RObert Louis Stevenson, Conan Doyle and Steve Earle are imaginative. And there are some gold standards from Stephen King, Terry Southern, Burroughs, and Ballard.

A guide to more than just work--this book gives you the key to a happier life. We all know that work envelops us more than just 9 to 5--it's more a 24/7 experience. This book will help you find a profession, not just a job, that allows the work and personal life you dream of.

A Formula for a Lifetime

Farren takes the reader through a model/process of evaluation and planning. Her premise is that there are basic human needs that are timeless. Once you select the need that drives you (your passion) - you will always be in control of your vocation (serving others). Farren's unique approach is to match these universal human needs to professions. Having arrived at a profession, gaining mastery in that profession will withstand unstable job markets. As markets change, jobs get created or become obsolete, you will always have your mastery. Mastery is key! and "jobs" are very different from mastery. From that grounding - shifts/transitions and new directions can be self-managed and navigated. She helps the reader by adding specific information for 3 types of readers: new workers, in-transition, and experienced workers. She rounds out the book by providing sound information about the future of work: f/t, pt/, contingent and freelance. Additionally, she adds a new perspective on considering your job in terms of its "role." There may be others, but she puts forth: project managers, resource providers, specialists and strategists. Who's Running Your Career?, if you use it, will put you in charge.

In this terrific book, Greg Moore not only shatters lots of wine myths (and exposes the mass-marketed wine industry for what it is), he also offers helpful tips for learning how to appreciate GENUINE wine. No pretense, geekiness, arrogance, snobbery, or hype -- just factual knowledge, intelligently presented and beautifully designed. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in wine!

So, you look at this little book thinking, "Gee, that's a 'nice' little gift for thw wine geek in the family..." - then you start reading the author's take on the world o' wine.

If this ever falls into Jess Jackson's or or Gina Gallo's hands, you can bet that the California wine industry "powers that be" will be lobbying for changes in the label law. This book'll give you the straight dope on how wine is made, and marketed to the American consumer.
