My daughter loves this book. I am a runner and am always out running so this is something my 3 year old can really relate to.

Wonderful!

I have two daughters, ages 3 and 5, and they simply adore this book. They talk about Penny all the time (and her medal!), and they talk about wanting to run a marathon. They like to "practice" by running everywhere, with a perfect runner's arm-swing. My wife and I both run, and our girls know we love it -- but this book is an excellent way to further display the joys and benefits of running. The illustrations are warm and entertaining -- some are hilarious. It's really just good fun and positive energy all around.

A colorful and engaging book on mummy-making
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2005-09-12
I looked at a number of books on mummy-making before settling on this one, and I made a very good choice! The pages are VERY colorful, the see-though sections neat, and the text clear, informative, and interesting.

I highly recommend it.

"See-Through Mummies"

I purchased "See-Through Mummies" for my grandson, aged 8, hoping to stimulate an interest in Egyptology. The book is very readable and has many beautiful and colourful illustrations. The scene is set with the telling of the Osiris story, leading to a very interesting and accurate account of the process of mummification and subsequent burial. The religious beliefs of this fascinating people are also featured - as well as many little insights which bring this ancient culture to life. This may be a book for children but I think all ages will appreciate its story and its sheer beauty.

Excellent running schedules for all levels and distances!
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 1999-08-24
The second part of the series concentrates on shorter distances (800m to 5,000m/5miles). Along with general information and discussions the most useful part of the book are the practical day-by-day 10-week schedules. The schedules are very specific - depending on time goals, initial preparation and the distance. Excellent book!

The Definitive book on training
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 1999-09-20
This book gives you everything you want and more! I followed this closely when I had a crummy track coach in high school and my times ended up being exactly at the race pace I was training for. I have used these workouts in coaching as well and have seen great success with them. A lot of the books that come out nowadays are just commentaries on runners--this one gives you the year-round training schedules you've been looking for.

Serenity in a box!

I bought this product a few years ago, but haven't really had the opportunity to put it up until just now. I can't find the little book it came with, but the windchimes are of decent quality and sound pleasant.

Pretty good serenity in there

The box provides serenity just like they say. The book has nice serene quotes. To top it off, there are nature pictures in side this book. If you need a serene enviroment, buy this box. It may not be like big serenity type chimes, but it's a good value. To complete your enviroment, wind chimes are enclosed. These are real, and are perfect to go with the quotes.

Pros
+Good value.
+nice book
+windchimes
+A serene enviroment in a box.
+Six dollars! a good price!

Cons
-black and white photos

Overall, a good deal of serenity

Mind Control Erotica at it's Best!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-04-15
Given the large fan base for erotic mind control, I'm a bit shocked there isn't a lot of published material out there. If you do want to find it, you have to turn to Ray Gordon, who has written more of these boobs than everyone else combined. Sextro is one of his best in this genre and I highly recommend it. It provides the female POV, which is critical in these tales, and adds some realistic resistance throughout.

A wonderfull erotic flight of fancy ....
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2004-10-13
Written by Roy Gordon one of the foremost contemporary erotica writers this book is another look at his certain ability to take the reader on a strange, dreamy, and flighty trip into our imgination.....

It has been quite a few years since the fantasy of making the opposite sex do wonderfull little things even crossed my mind... years of reality has a way of dulling many of the senses I guess. In this book however we meet Grant, a very very frustrated UFO enthusiast comes upon an orgistic scene in the woods and soon finds the group he was spying on and himself enveloped in a strange green light. Not only did this light change the size and power of that all important organ but on returning home to his totally frigid girfriend he finds that she has become a most depraved 'nympho' very close to what his thoughts were transmitting.

Grant quickly realized that his encounter gave him a new power over people and it didn't take long for him to begin enjoyig this power with every young girl that came within range ... Although there were risks involved in the misuse of this power our hero is portayed as being both dumb and naive enough not to let him worry about those foreboding implications ....

It's a great 5 star book for it's uniqueness and light hearted fare ......

Shakespeare and the Elizabethan Age
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2001-02-10
This is an excellent way to engage older children in exploring literature. There are activities as well as information on the life, times, and works of Shakespeare. It would be difficult for a child younger than nine or ten to complete the projects, but it would be excellent for an older child, especially as an introduction to one of Shakespeare's works. It allows a child to explore the time period as well as the theatre. It is well packaged in a very neat "book" with a drawer and compartments for the various parts; it is easy to store without losing the smaller parts. It even comes with a lock and key!

A Treasure Chest of Shakespearean Discovery!!!

Review Date: 2003-05-14
This is not a true book, but a delightful book-shaped treasure chest filled with wonderful things to explore the age of Shakespeare. New and complete, "Shakespeare and the Elizabethan Age" contains a model of the Globe Theater to make; a Shakespearean timeline poster; Map of London from Shakespeare's time; Guide to the plays of Shakespeare; 32-page book about the immortal Bard; and a replica 16th-century printing set to make a personalized print poster (includes movable type and ink!!). This is a great gift for yourself and your favorite Shakespeare freak, young or old.

This is an outstanding guide that will be useful for new cigar lovers as well as veteran smokers. It does need an update, and I would recommend a section devoted to small cigars and cigarillos, which are becoming more popular.

Don't even think about not having this book!

As a newcomer to the world of fine handmade cigars, I found in Shanken's Cigar Handbook a very comprehensive and cozy text. All the answers to the questions of fresh cigar aficionados are in there. Lots of great colorful pictures and cigar brand data too. Make this your reference book! Bill Cosby's merciless foreword is magnificent.

Stan Kent has created one of the most fascinating characters ever in Violetta Valery Cutrero. He takes us into an ever increasing world of thrilling madness. You won't be able to put this book down. It's fantastic!!!

Excellent; pushes the envelopes of both erotica and thriller
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1999-08-31
Even having read Kent's earlier fiction, "Shoe Leather" was so much more than I expected. Kent has managed to simultaneously expand the perameters of both the erotica and thriller genres, as well as introduce a lovable heroine with an ingenious "super-power," the likes of which neither genre has ever seen. Gripping, funny and genuinely tension-filled, "Shoe Leather" is groundbreaking in so many ways, I'm actually surprised a small publisher was daring enough to take a chance on putting it out. If Mr Kent hasn't yet written a script version, he needs to get right on it. Until then, I hope we can expect more adventures with Violetta.

Well-chosen quotes
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-07-28
This is a little gift book of inspirational quotes and sweet little drawings. It gives the quotes, the authors and their birth & death years, and a short phrase describing each author. For example, "'It's a very short trip. While alive, live!' Malcolm Forbes (1919-1990), American publisher." I have a box of greeting cards that are blank inside, and I like to write in a quote that fits with a card for a more personal thank you or birthday card, for example. These quotes are inspiring and upbeat and do just the trick.

A Great Book!

Sir Winston Churchill-His Life and Paintings by Coombs et.
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2005-11-26
Most people think of Sir Winston Churchill as a Prime Minister,
author and Parliamentarian. I never knew that he had considerable artistic skills and a portfolio of valuable work.
His art portfolio includes the following titles:
- the Hoe Farm
- the Lawrence Farm
- Portrait of Lady Gwendeline Churchill
- Sketch of Captain Jack Scott
- Sketch of Sir Archibald Sinclair
- the Mimizem Landes Forest
- the Sunset Over the Sea
- Mountains and Sea at Sunset
- A View of Jerusalem
- A Distant View of Pyramids Near Cairo, Egypt

Many of these creations are in full color. They are drawn to
a considerable technical excellence. The coloring is splendid.
Shadowing is realistic. The human figures are drawn to scale.
The size and proportionality of the scene layouts synchronize
with creations by a number of famous artists. Overall,
Sir Winston Churchill was an outstanding artist for his time
and perhaps for all time. This acquisition would be invaluable
for a wide constituency of people in academe.

Outstanding!!

While Mr. Coombs was the first to catalogue WSC's paintings with "Churchill, his Paintings" in 1965, it seems only fitting that he should many years later release a thoroughly new and much improved companion - in full color!! His collaboration with Minnie Churchill, who oversees the painting reproduction rights by way of the Churchill Heritage, bring to light many paintings that didn't make the first book. The book took 6 years of in-depth research to track and re-photograph the many "daubs" that Mr. Churchill claimed privately to be his greatest love - next to Clemmie. What completes the book is the extensive painting catalogue that details the particulars of each work - including sale prices. One of the best books purchases I ever made.
