I've just read "Hit the Job Running" by Andrea Dolph & Ray Sarnacki and can't say enough about this book. I've been in the workforce for over thirty years and do firmly believe that every college student, especially graduating seniors, should be required to read it.

It has invaluable insights into how the "working" world functions and would definitely be an asset to young adults wading into the "real" world for the first time.

I would highly recommend it.

Great read for recent college grads!

I must confess: I had to read this book for work as part of an assignment. And while I did expect to find it useful, I had no idea just how useful it would be!

First of all, the advice in the book is very actionable. The authors are able to simplify complex information and clarify the steps required to achieve critical skills. For example, in Chapter 5, Planning Your Assignment, the authors provide sample project plans and outline the steps required to develop and execute a plan of your own. No one ever provided this kind of information to me, but I wish they had!

The chapter on performance feedback and compensation is also very helpful. There's even an actual performance appraisal, and the authors do a good job of explaining how this process works in many organizations, including how to prepare for your own evaluation, different forms of compensation, and what to do when the appraisal is disappointing.

My favorite section is titled Developing Business Acumen. Neither my parents nor my older sibling worked in a corporate setting and finding a mentor early in my career was pretty difficult (Hit the Job Running addresses this, too!) - so business acumen was an elusive term for me. I knew there was much I didn't know as I made the transition from student to wage earner, but I wasn't quite sure how to learn it, or even what it was I was missing. I don't know another book that addresses this area at all, and the authors do a good job of setting context and providing a corporate landscape for the recent college grad.

Although I have been working quite a while, I do remember what it was like in the beginning of my career. Most of the time, my managers assigned projects without really ever explaining how to go about accomplishing the tasks. It never occurred to me at the time that perhaps they didn't really know. I think it's safe to say we would have both been better off - and more confident earlier on - if we had had this book!

I am an elementary school counselor. This is an excellent book to share with children who are (grieving) missing a parent because of divorce, deployment, or death. Wonderful pictures and text. A peaceful, gentle read.

IF YOU LISTEN...wow, that title get's attention. I have so much to share with/teach my child and this book's title is perfect to whisper to her and get her in the mood to LISTEN. "How do you know if someone far away is loving you?" a little girl asked her mother. Truth is, we all ask ourselves this with so many family/friends over the miles. The mother answers in a way that is very interesting and beautiful with simple, yet great descriptive writing that pulls the reader into the pictures and beyond..."You have to stop when you're lonely and listen," said her mother....If you listen hard you'll feel someone far away sending love to you." After listening to her mother's examples, the little girl sits outside under a clear blue sky. "One bird circled and circled overhead. She watched until he flew away." There is so much more I'd like to say but get this book and share it with your child and encourage them to become listeners. Listening is something that we never "graduate" from. It is a continuous learning experience and more importantly, a gift of love and respect to the speaker.

Hot victorian erotica classic ... a must have book

Memoirs of an Eduardian Dandy' and was edited by James Jennincs the absolute master of erotica ....First published in in London in 1913 these books I am sure have weathered time in many of daddys desks bottom drawer to be discovered .....

The books are an autobiogrphy of Rupert Mountjoy's introduction and growth in the world or erocticism. Being a wealthy young Englishman with no concers for his income he certainly is able to give hedonism a new name.

In the first volume names 'First Stirrings 'Rupert and his friend Frank meet Diana and Cecily two very very easy coming and going young ladies that help with their real life education ... and, this education, as one would expect, both the boys had to be helped over and over by these very very willing little vixens...

Volume 2 is a continuation of Ruperts education 'A Freshmans Tale 'with an enlarged group of friends that continue their education in the softer and yummie things in life. They don't seem to get much school work done in these books but then with those friends neither would I ....

Volume 3 called 'A Menu to Savour' we continue to enjoy Ruperts exploits as a young man after Oxford. He manages to maintain contact with Diana and Cecili and a whole new expanded group of friends that facilitate their very gregarious need to seek every single pleasure of the flesh that is imaginable ....

Finally although the title says it's and Edwardina dandy, trust me this is classic Victorian erotica writing and does not use that dark brooding Edwardian erotica style ....

True erotica book of an uninhibited sensualist...

This is one of the sexiest, most uninhibited books I have read in a long time. The best part is that it is true classic erotica -- originally published in 1913. In the three volumes of The Intimate Memoirs of an Edwardian Dandy, I read about Rupert Mountjoy's erotic exploits from growing up in the countryside to his prestigious Oxford education. The reader gets a glimpse into the life of a real sensualist with audacious imagination. I marvel at this wonderful book. I love classic erotica, for the fact that said books were written so long ago make it all the more delicious. I couldn't put this book down. I read this book in two sittings and I cannot wait to read something like it. I'm not a big fan of Blue Moon books, but this one's very special. Highly recommended to all erotica bibliophiles...

I'm not usually one to take to the idea that biology is destiny, but Quirk's book presents the data in an extremely challenging, provocative, and thoughtful way. It's also funny as all hell, and Quirk knows how to use sass to make what would otherwise be dense and impenetrable science into an incredibly readable romp through the biology that underwrites all our relationships, straight or queer, male or female. At one of his author talks, Quirk said that his relationship with his partner had improved immeasurably as a result of knowing the things he found out in writing this book. I'm certain that he'll not be the only one coming away the wiser.

This is a fascinating book--loaded with interesting facts(which you will want to quote to your friends and lovers) and terrifically amusing. How does Joe Quirk write a book with so much information and do it so humorously? Well, that's what he accomplishes, and you will be the better for reading it. You'll feel wiser and a lot more savvy in your relationships with the opposite sex. And if you ever have the opportunity to see one of Joe Quirk's public appearances, do it! He is warm and easy going with his audience and lots of fun to listen to.

Great gift for decor of worshiping

Review Date: 2004-04-02
I'm not a Buddhist, but I like this kit any way. I got it as a gift for my mom because she thinks buddha statues are neat(She is not a buddhist, either).

But this kit is great for decor and worship alike. Comes with a real buddah statue, incesne, a candle, book and more. use the box as an altar. this is perfect for a desk or car, or a nice piece of decoration.

The buddah kit is great for travel. take it with you on trips. if you need to practice, but don't have time to go to a worship temple, use this. IF you buy this and you worship, you can worship at home without spending millions of dollars on a fourty -foot buddah statue(unless you really want to!).

The statue is very realistic. with all the candle and incese, you got an authentic buddah statue. for $8 dollars, it can't be beat. I recomend this to any Buddhist( unless you have a giant one in your house!)

Get it if you worship buddha. You'll be glad you did.

Worship this kit!

This kit contains a 1.5" tall Buddha and stand, incense, an incense holder, and an accompanying book in a shrine-shaped box that opens into a portable altar. This is definitely one of the better-quality kits made by Running Press--and it's incredibly cute! The book actually contains some useful information, and the Buddha, stand, and incense holder are made of fairly heavy-duty materials. The picture on the back of the box is deceptive; you only receive 2 pieces of incense, as opposed to the small handfull shown in the picture. (When I opened my kit, one stick was already broken, and the other one broke shortly thereafter.)

This Buddha kit is perfect for my 8" tall, stuffed puppy. Puppychu has placed this mini-altar inside his 15" doghouse, and he prays daily, just like his dad, who has a much bigger altar in his own house. Puppychu has also bought nearly all the other Mini-kits from Running Press, and considers himself an expert on their products.

this book is so sturdy...of all the "pull-the-flap" type books our kids own, it's the only one with no rips or tears. and our kids aren't even that rough with books. i don't know why all books can't be made this well.

My mom got this book for my 14 month old son for Halloween and it is by far his favorite. I am researching books by Running Press Kids because honestly, I am getting a bit tired of reading this book to him. He loves the fact that he can pull the tabs himself unlike some similar books. This book is truly his favorite.

While it may appear that some of the information in this book may be a bit dated, don't let that put you off. This is still one of the best running books in print. It gives down to earth advice and is certainly inspirational. I first read this one when it was published and still give it a read ever few years. Highly recommend this one.

I received this as a Christmas present and was suprised at how tiny it is. Only 127 pages long and it measures just about 3X3! However this small package is packed with Muppet takes on classic Christmas carols (Please Rest Ye Grumpy Gentlemen), stories (The Thrift of the Magi), Muppet letters to Santa and illustrated with charming photos of the Muppets in various Christmas settings. It's sure to bring joy and delight to children as well as adults!

A beautiful, heartfelt celebration of partner yoga
Helpful Votes: 12 out of 12 total.

This book is a real gift for those of us who love yoga!
The positions are really original and innovative, as well as gorgeous to look at. The author encourages her readers to let go of perfection and to embrace connection instead. The postures are a nice blend of both the practical and the spiritual, as well as both the simple and the more challenging. I love the chapter on Mudras (symbolic hand gestures). I've never seen examples of partnered mudras before and they are just beautiful.
The photographs are amazing as well - you just want to keep this book nearby so you can look at it regularly for inspiration. I plan to give this to friends as gifts - it's really special.

Feels like the next step in the evolution of yoga!

It's difficult to find anything really unique in yoga these days-But this book is it! Sure the concept of partner yoga has been presented before, But not like this. Here, the `practice' transcends to communal ceremony...as playful as you like, yet leading to sensitive, divine connection. And, it's not limited to asanas ....All maya koshas are honored: (physical/breath/ mental-emotional/ intuitive/and bliss bodies). And, I really like the descriptions of the chakras and using mudras with a partner (so creative and original).
ALSO, The photos are gorgeous! The author's writing is as eloquent and inspired as the quotes! (a `non-yoga' friend wants the book just to `look at' ) However, it also works on the practical level: guiding you through developing and varying your very own practice...gentle or more challenging.
I believe this practice is possible for any two people. I've tried it with partners not my size or degree of flexibility; just use that open mind and a blanket to adjust height. Your reward will be `Namaste' experienced throughout the practice!

I have read several (and collected a few) books on erotic fiction over time. This book has been part of my collection for several years, and I have no plans of parting with it!

The story is very well written. It is set in Victorian England, and is of a girl who is introduced to all forms of sexual pleasure.

WOW I should have known ....

Published May 1999 and already it's out of stock ...

Tis is one of Patrick Henden's best works and I certainly hope they do another realistic print run ...

The story deals with Katherin a young 19 yr old that seems to marry INTO a very very sexually liberated Victorian family ...

The scenes are hot and scrumtious ....

A MUST HAVE for your erotic library
