This book is for serious sudoku-ers only! The puzzles are more difficult than those you'd expect from the sudoku books already
on the market, but definitely as much, if not more, fun!
If you're looking for a gift for your favorite puzzle fan, grab this book. It's pretty new, so chances are, they won't have it.

I've read this book several times (at least once at the beginning of each year) and love it more each time. It is a must
read for anyone even remotely interested in ultra-running, and I'd strongly recommend it to the prospective marathoner as
well. It will entertain you, but you will also take some lessons away from it that will benefit you next time you find yourself
struggling to keep slogging along.

I purchased this book because (1) lots of ultrarunners seem to recommend it and (2) I enjoy books which are actually a compilation
of different stories from different authors (which this is).
To be fair, I don't know that all would consider this a book purely about ultrarunning. The editor himself agrees that most ultras are runs more than 26.2 miles - and continuous. There are a few stories in this book that are multi-stage, multi-day etc. And while some may feel it's not ALL about ultras (at least in the strictest sense), it's certainly all about endurance running - different authors' reflections/perspectives on the experience. All are well written (and notable authors in their own right). Editor also wrote 'Once a Runner' an outstanding running book. The result of such an excellent group of folks is an excellent book.
If you've read and liked 'Running Through the Wall' you'll likely enjoy this one as well.

There are a few ... well, call them competitions, where just to finish is to win. Not too many things you can say that about.
There are only three sports: mountain climbing, grappling, and distance running -- everything else is just a game. Everyone
should climb a mountain. Every man should grapple. But as for endurance running, I don't suppose it's for everyone. It's
where you ... not test, not prove ... where you meet yourself, naked of accesories and suppositions. At mile 24, there are
no more theories. The unfairnesses of your childhood don't matter. You get to the place where you'd just weep except the
water is too precious. This is where what is base in your soul can become noble.
And so I, taking the long view and realizing that my 50th birthday is a small handful of years away, have resolved to commemorate the occasion with a long run. That's why a book like this is important, and why this book is important. We need to be reminded of excellence. We need to be encouraged to strive. Dreams matter.

Just when you thought you had answered every question about preparing for a baby, Amanda Dobbins thinks of more questions
and provides the answers. There is no other book on the market that provides a more comprehensive and thoughtful approach
to becoming a parent. I only wish I had her book when my first child was born! This is the best baby gift and will be a
treasure for years to come!

Gifts from "Grandmother" to adult children or young friends who are expecting a baby has its challenges. I want to avoid
being philosophical or imposing or to tread on sensitive toes at such an important time. Of course, the stores are full of
'things' to get, but Grandmothers like me enjoy giving a meaningful (not to mention useful) gift
Well, I have found the perfect book for any and all new parents! I will buy it again and again this year because so many babies of friends and neighbors are due. I'll buy it for shower gifts and for new baby gifts.
Amanda Dobbins has written a book that helps parents organize a "whole new world". She offers both personal and expert views on many of the issues that surround the myriad decisions new parents have to make. She writes about unfamiliar responsibilities with reassurance in a matter-of-fact way. When a new parent finishes a topic, he or she is fortified and ready to proceed with the task. Even more importantly,The Baby File is wonderful to look at and a joy to use. There is space for "making the book your own". For many new parents, it will become a keepsake of fond memories of a wonderful time of life.
The Baby File is full of instructive information, it supports parents when they really need it, and it reinforces memories. It is a great gift to give (or to get for yourself, if 'Grandmother' doesn't get it for you!)

I bought this book for a friend's baby shower, but read it cover-to-cover first. The Baby File provides exactly what it purports
and more: A single volume in which you can find and store all the practical info you need from pregnancy through early childhood.
There's nothing else like this out there. It's really helpful and downright smart. And what's "more?" Its combination of anecdotal
and factual information is actually an engaging read. Amanda Dobbins writes with a reverence for motherhood firmly rooted
in reality and experience, and there is no gimmick about it -- she has earnestly done all the research and organizing so other
new moms don't have to.
A definite must-have for any new mom!

I have been a guitar player for 40 years, and decided to pick up the mandolin just lately. I have always had a fascination
for Bluegrass music, but had never actually been exposed to it thoroughly enough to remember any specific tunes.
This CD set is a really great way to immerse yourself in a few of the most popular tunes of the genre.
Rick Williams, an accomplished player, breaks the music down along with accompanying guitar and allows the student to hear these standard popular Bluegrass tunes at their proper jam tempo, as well as slowed down. There is also a track of each song without the mandolin melody that enables the novice to inject the melody as if he were actually accompanied by the guitarist. The slow-played tracks ensure that the student never misses even the most complex and tasty Bluegrass licks. I like this product very much. It has been a great help to me. After only a couple of weeks, I am familiar with a few songs and can almost pick them up to speed! It's a great feeling.

25 great tunes! What I like is that the tunes are "in tune", if you know what I mean. And each is played three times...slow
melody, normal melody, and then an accompaniment for you to improvise or just play the melody. Wow. I wish all sheet music
came this way! Recommended, and I mean it!

I have tried other products that offer the tab and practice tracks for this type of tunes, and have been repeatedly disappointed
by tracks that were kludgy, out of time, out of tune, had multitracks that didn't sync up, and of course horrible arrangements
and sloppy tab. I tried downloading free stuff, but was frustrated by lack of a cohesive set of material.
Finally!! I saw Rick's site in someone's review, and I am so glad I did. I contacted Rick via email and received a prompt reply that fully answered all of my questions. I went through the many free lessons and samples available on his site, and immediately ordered the Mandolin Jam Tunes. It arrived in about four days, well packaged, well produced, and high quality through and through.
I cannot say enough good about this product. I am well on my way to learning the tunes, and eagerly await the next volume of Jam Tunes. Thanks Rick, Great Work!!!

My name is Desmond, and i have been a hardcore breakdancer for about 12 years. I learned most of my moves on the streets
of New York City in the early eighties, however, i got into a few bad habits. This book took me back to the basics; the
fundamentals that are necessary to any serious, competitive breakdancer. Upon reading this book and applying some of the
knowledge i gained, i hit the streets to see what, if any, effects it had on my flow. To my surprise, i was smoother than
ever. My spins were tighter and my foot work was faster and cleaner as well. I highly recomend this book for anyone considering
a career in professional breakdancing, or even someone trying to show off at dances, parties, or charity benefits. It will
help the novice breakdancer to get a solid start and will help an advanced breakdancer to perfect their moves. A must buy!

to how my own thoughts ultimately manifest my personal happiness. I bought it for my best friend for her birthday, and she's

I have been a fan of asset-based thinking (ABT) since learning about the concept in Kathy and Hank's first book, "Change the
Way You See Everything."
What I love about ABT is that it provides a language for those of us who focus on what we have/strengths versus dwelling on what you lack (deficits).
All too often if you look at the positive side of things, you become labeled a bright-eyed optimist, or a Pollyanna. Asset-based thinking is much more than a 'the glass is half-full.'
This second book in the series, "Change the Way You See Yourself" maps out the tools step-by-step to help the reader discover their strengths, source of power, ways to influence and more.
It's perfect for those trying to figure out what they want/should do with their life... It's just as good for the seasoned leader hoping to refine their focus.
What's also great is asset-based thinking is a strong foundation for other self-help methods... It doesn't conflict, but serves as a base... a foundation.
I highly recommend "Change the Way You See Yourself," as well as their first title "Change the Way You See Everything." (You don't need the first to understand the second... but they *do* support each other).

Change the Way You See Yourself is a nicely written and packaged book about the power of positive thinking.
The book begins: "Asset-based thinking is a way of viewing reality. Asset-Based Thinkers embrace the positive side of life and free themselves of the deficit-based negative side (DBT.) ABT reveals how even the slightest shifts in your thinking can lead to seismic differences."
I liked how, in "Call yourself to action," the reader is encouraged to be proactive, not reactive. Being proactive means gaining control of our lives.
There are lots of photographs and white space in this attractive book. Some pages have only a couple of sentences with photographs to slow down reading and make us ponder the phrases.
For example, on the left side of one page is the following: "Showing up is a straight forward act, but it's how you show up that makes the difference...And that is not as simple as it sounds. Showing up emphatically can feel awkward at first...
On the right side of the page is a half inch strip of a photograph that runs across the page. The photograph depicts a red curtain with a face popping out. The rest of the page, along with the preceding page, is white.
This book is inspiring and uplifting.

There is something for everyone in this book. It contains the story of a mean man who receives redemption. Ebeneezer is
able to change only with the intervention of three ghostly visitors. They come to him and show his past, present, and future.
Throughout the journey, the reader has a chance to see possible mistakes that Scrooge made and how he has suffered from it.
This is not only a Christmas classic, but a human nature classic.

This edition keeps all the music of Charles Dickens' language but the illustrations make it more accessible for kids. That
said, the language is still very challenging so expect to do a lot of explaining. The exposure to classic literature is well

As the father of a girl who kept the same stuffed animal for over ten years, I can relate to the story of a stuffed animal
that becomes real. It is also a story that mimics religious tales, where heaven (what you always wanted) is what happens to
you when your body is old and wore out.
The velveteen rabbit is a simple stuffed toy that sleeps with and does everything with the boy. Being the recipient of so much love, all of the whiskers and other markings are worn off. When the boy becomes extremely sick with scarlet fever, the velveteen rabbit stays with him. However, the doctor insists that the rabbit be thrown away as it is now contaminated with germs.
When the rabbit is lying in the garbage, a fairy arrives and turns him into a real rabbit, satisfying his lifelong dream. It ends with the boy seeing a wild rabbit having markings like his former toy peeking through the brush at him.
This is truly one of the best children's books ever written, it captures the feelings that children have for their stuffed animals. Like adults, children like to believe that their spirits live on and that includes the spirits and love incorporated into their prized toys.

The Velveteen Rabbit is a beloved story whose honored place in children's literature speaks for itself. This beautifully-illustrated
edition does the book the honor it deserves. Large, full-color pictures include life-like depictions of living rabbits, the
Boy, and the endearingly floppy Velveteen Rabbit. This is truly a keepsake book that your child will treasure forever.

I feel that The Velveteen Rabbit, was one of the most memorable books that my parents read to me. I will continue to pass
it on to my children, in hope that they too will think that it if they respect their teddy bears and rabbits, and give them
that extra care, that they too will come to life.

I have two daughters, an eighth grader who is really into softball, and a fourth grader who is just getting into the sport.
I ran across this new drills book and highly recommend it. It's really organized, with good pictures to go along with the
drills. And it's great for both of my girls. I'm definitely going to tell their coaches about it.
Outstanding and Highly Recommended!

This book is a great reference for any coach of U10, U12, U14 and high school girls softball. The book is very organized and
well written, and explains very clearly the fundamentals behind each drill. As expected, the pitching chapter is excellent.
But the hitting and the defense chapters are also outstanding. There are lots of advanced level coaching tips throughout
the book, including in each drill's "hints" section. Michele Smith is in alot of the photos personally demonstrating the
mechanics and drills. The diagrams are good, and clutter free.
Great resource for youth league and travel team coaches

As a league administrator, I'm always looking for great coaching
resources for the coaches in our league. I love this book because it's
a combination coaching and drills book. Many drills books out there
just have drills (with a smattering of ad hoc remarks on mechanics).
But this book is different. Every section of the book has a thorough
discussion of the required mechanics (hitting, pitching, defensive
footwork, infield defense, outfield defense, etc.), followed by a slew
of drills. The book contains a progression of drills for every level of
player (youth league level, as well as tons of "advanced variation"
drills for travel league and high school players). The book is very
organized, and therefore is a great resource for coaches to refer back
to on a regular basis. You can tell that Michele Smith is a stickler
for details because the photos and captions are very detail oriented and
helpful. All and all a fantastic resource!

Most of this book is taken up with the familiar 9X9 grid su doku puzzles but there are two other types of puzzles as well. Second is a puzzle called bridges. Numbered circles represent islands and the number is the number of bridges that connect tit to surrounding island. Like su doku, a simple set of rules drives the logic for finding the unique solution. The final puzzle is slitherlink. A matrix has numbers that represent how many of the sides of its cell will be filled in. The object is to satisfy all of the numbers and complete a continuous loop.
A good book if you are looking for something a little different or just want puzzles that are a little more challenging than what most of the other books are offering.
