I can think of no better article or book that makes the case for the importance of psychotherapy and the psychodynamic factors involved with medication management. Reading the many vignettes was like taking a course in analytically oriented therapy. I see too many psychiatrists being told or trained to see patients for "15 minute medication management." This book probably makes the best case for psychiatrists doing both therapy and prescribing (Drs. Busch and Sandberg were evenhanded in the "Split Treatment" chapter. However, after reading the book, I was more focused on the problems with this practice. I don't believe the majority of psychiatrists and therapists work as closely as the ones portrayed in most of the vignettes). Congratulations to Drs. Busch and Sandberg on writing an excellent and very important book!

The eBay Myth-Bu$ter: An excellent start

Being a New Zealander, naturally I prefer to use Trademe.co.nz as that is our local Australasian auction site!

Being focused specifically with busting myths about online auctions Myth-Bu$ter is quite specialised. However, many of the principles found in the book can also be applied to any other local auction sites such as Trademe.

I wholeheartedly recommend the book to kiwis, but (to use a pun) the book does require some unencryption from the American language!

Clearly one of the better eBay books.

In attempting to get started on eBay as a seller, I read about 10 books. Most covered the same ground, in pretty much the same way. I appreciated Mr.Busch's approach and believe I got more out of this one book than the others that I read up till then. This book is very good.

Incredibly useful and concise

I have been a buyer on ebay for a couple of years and would like to get started selling. Due to a combination of procrastination and lack of confidence I have not yet taken the leap. Well, now I have the confidence to try. All of my lingering questions were answered by this book. It doesn't walk you through getting started, that would be a waste since that info is available from so many other sources. But it does address things like determining when to start and finish an auction, how long to set the auction for, when to use Buy it Now or set reserve prices, etc.

The author has a really great writing style- not cutesy or gimmicky and very readable. (I read the book in one day- I should have been sleeping, but I couldn't put it down.) He gives great examples of different scenarios that help the reader to be better able apply the information. He tells us his opinion and the opinions of others- he does not bash ebay or paypal but he does give honest observations of some of their practices and services -whether good or bad or simply necessary. I have read alot of informational type books on various subjects lately and reading this one was a really refreshing change of pace. Mr. Busch wrote with confidence but there was nothing self-congratulatory about his style at all- he was even charmingly self-deprecating at times (but not cutesy- I hate that!) The book has very straight forward advice and doesn't waste time trying to hype one way of doing things over another.

Mr. Busch's personal business style is also very appealing and one that I would be happy to emulate. As a buyer, I wish more sellers would follow his example. As a buyer I have often wondered if it was really necessary to put all of those terms and conditions and warnings in the auction- I thought there must just be a ton of bad buyers out there to warrant such practice- but now I know differently. I also find it extremely annoying when I encounter animation or overly busy backgrounds and - worst of all- sound and music when I view an auction.

This book would be great for anyone- there are great tips for buyers- a couple that I will definitely put into use. I would recommend that a person get a little bit of experience on ebay as a buyer before reading this book- then you will really know what is being described and it will have more meaning because you can apply it to your own experiences. A few transactions would really be all it takes. But definitely get this book!!

Busch hopes to disabuse common misconceptions circulating amongst many eBay users. He presupposes that you have already done some buying or selling on eBay. He goes straight into explaining various aspects. Like how sniping is not against the rules or even the spirit of the auction. And even if it was, it is very problematic that this could be banned.

Another common topic he addresses is that if you lose an auction by $1, say, that somehow if you had bidded $2, you would have won the item. This is not necessarily so. The winner might have placed a maximum bid of $20 above yours. But the eBay mechanism only charged the winner $1 about your bid, which was the second highest.

If you are planning on using eBay frequently, you might want to slowly go through this book. It could be a huge time and worry saver.

My veiw is, you can never read enough books on the subject of eBay. There is always something new you can learn from any book on the subject. I am still an "amateur" but, things are looking good for an amateur...please critique me if you wish:

Mr Hall, as Harry Truman established long ago, parents don't like to see their children put down. I think Rick did a great job. Although he acused me of only looking at the pictures, I found the year to year histories interesting even though I am not an avid race fan. (I usually stay in the pit and garage areas when I go to a race with Rick because I enjoy the mechanical aspects of the sport). It is a very good book and everyone should buy two or three copies. They make great gifts. I should know, I received one of the first copies as a gift.

Should be on every race fans bookshelf!!

Rick Houston takes the readers behind the scenes and back in time in Second To None: The History of The Busch Series. Seldom does this "AAA league" of stock car racing get this kind of attention and exposure. From Sam Ard and Jack Ingram to the newer generation stars, the true characters of the sport emerge in the pages of this fine book. I got the opportunity to visit with Rick Houston recently and the true passion for the Busch Series comes through in every word. Does it have a lot of pictures? Absolutely! Many are from private collections that have never been seen and give us a look back at the sport before every minute of every race was captured by thousands of cameras. If you want to know how far this sport has come in the last 20 years, read this book. You'll never watch those "Saturday" races the same!

This is a great Book! Every NASCAR fan should read this book and it's a must have for any Busch Series fan. The stories are great and the pictures are even better. Rick Houston shows why he's the best in the business.

A 'MUST HAVE" for all TRUE race fans.

If you are a NASCAR fan you MUST have this book. The pictures are superb. The one on page 114 alone is worth the cost of the book. It is well written and gives not only a history of the Busch series but a look into the "personalities" that made this sport famous.

This is no ordinary paper back. The quality is outstanding. When you're finished, don't put it on a shelf. It deserves to be out on the coffee table for all to see and enjoy.

This book is fantastic! I work in the motorsports industry, and see far too often how the Busch Series is often forgotten in national coverage. People do not realize how the Busch Series is a very large reason why the Winston Cup Series is so popular. Second to None really shows how the Busch Series developed through the years, from its early stages as the Late Model Sportsman division to today's Busch Series. The detailed stories and incredible pictures give fans insight into the Busch Series that they previously did not have access to.
Guys like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, and the late Dale Earnhardt all fine-tuned their driving skills in the Busch Series, and this book offers glimpses into their careers along with many other series legends. Rick Houston is the best man for the job in writing this book, since he offers week-to-week coverage of the Busch Series for Winston Cup Scene. No one is better suited to tell the stories of that series than Houston.
Any true race fan would enjoy reading Second to None. Houston's story-telling is very enjoyable, while the pictures tell stories in themselves. Some are even moving, like the picture of an emotional Darrell Waltrip looking over brother Michael's wrecked car at Bristol. Just an all-around nostalgic book. You certainly get your money's worth in buying this book! Don't miss this one!

As an ASQ certified Mechanical Inspector and Quality Technician, I would like to say that; This text is a fine resource for any person working in the metrology field. It covers a wide range of topics and is well worth having. Written in a style that is both informatve AND interesting. I was well pleased with this book.

Is Anything Better Out There?

This book has been required for a Dimensional Metrology class at Palomar College for the last ten years. This course is required for students seeking an AA in Quality Assurance Technology, or Quality certification. Though not a definitive guideline for the science of measurement, it seems to be the best text available.

Although there is an abundance of illustrations most are outdated and from the sixties. The field of Metrology has changed substantially and this text has not been revised accordingly. The questions and answer choices that follow each chapter are ambiguous in nature and need to reflect current issues. I would like to see more alignment with the ASQ CMI body of knowledge, inclusion of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and revision of the statistics chapter to include Gage R&R and various continuous improvement tools (cause and effect diagrams, run charts, process capability, trend charts, check sheets, etc.). The QS 9000 guidelines and newer calibration standards should also be referenced.

Let's see a major overhaul with the next issue.

I have been reading this book for a class. I must say that this book is not as detailed as I would like it to be. I am an engineer and my expectation was that when a statement is made details would be provided to backup the statements. And the figures in the book are not easy to understand quickly. There must be a better book out there.

I was not impressed with the book. Here's why: 1). having a strong HTML background and some CSS background, I did not learn a substantial amount worth anything to me and 2). I did not feel that it dealt with the problem of browser inconsistencies adequately. I learned more by printing off the 338 pages of CSS2 specs from the World Wide Web Consortium.

I didn't even know HTML when I bought this book, let alone stylesheets, and I found it helped teach me both. Very clear explanations, good examples, helpful sample software on the CD-ROM.

This book is laughably bad

Review Date: 2001-02-15
Style Sheets is a complicated topic, and this book, which looks like it was written in two days, does not cover the heart of the matter at all, it covers all other stuff about the internet and HTML. The glossary (which is totally unnecessary) at the end looks like it was taken directly of somewhere on the internet, and helped fill a few pages.

The book also had tons of errors. Almost every page has several errors. And I am not talking just about misspellings. The examples have bugs, the links are outdated, the explanation is flawed.

If you really must buy this book, I would please urge you to first go to a bookstore, and browse through it.

Total Waste of Money
