The shelves are filled with books on teams, team-building, team performance, team ad nauseum. Do we need another one? How will this book be any different, any better?

As I opened the cover and began reading the introduction, I felt very comfortable. There's a human quality to this author's writing style that invites you to keep turning pages. Land shared the story of his experience building a team within a United States Air Force squadron during the Viet Nam War. As I learned of the results he achieved, my interest was piqued.

Land is a Certified Management Consultant with a wide range of engagements under his belt. He relates some of his experiences as we move through the book, teaching and sharing in a style that is more conversational than preachy. How refreshing! He even cites work done by other experts in the field, demonstrating that he's writing to help the reader instead of pumping his own self-worth.

You'll read six chapters, taking you from an understanding of terms and concepts into organizational and team values. Chapter 4 explores the transition from traditional to team values, followed by a chapter of the role of conflict in the process. In chapter 6, our helpful consultant takes us through a Team Building Process that Really Works. Five appendices provide tools for leaders to use in building teams in their organizations.

After reading this book, you'll have a different perspective and confidence about what can be done. Apply what you've learned and you'll build higher results similar to what Land built with the Air Force squadron when he began the process he helps us understand. You'll find the book quite engaging; I was surprised how quickly I moved through the pages, enjoying the experience.

How To Get The Best Advertising From Your Agency: The Guide to Quickly Building a Productive Team

Brilliant! Amazing how it described our day-to-day concerns.

I read this book because a former colleague recommended it. We were having problems dealing with our advertising agency--especially its creative people. My company would make what looked like a simple request, but we just could not get the results we wanted or expected. It's simply uncanny how accurately Ms. Salz describes the advertiser-agency relationship as my company has learned to understand it! For awhile, her book became required reading for everyone in our advertising dept. "Our people" have a new-found respect for "their people," and the agency is already sending us work of a quality we had only dreamed of before.

Really, really helpful and a quick, fascinating read

My agency AE gave me this book so I was skeptical about it, to say the least. But I have found it enormously helpful. Salz just demystifies the whole marketer-agency relationship. I especially loved the quotes from people on both the agency and marketer sides of the business telling the truth about what they want and need from the other members of the team. Salz explains what challenges I face and how to meet them as I go through the steps of developing an ad. Now I know what to do to motivate my agency people. How to critique advertising. And I know what not to do, too. I found the book invaluable and recommend it highly to anyone who's new to working with an agency. Or people who want to know how to get their agency teams to do the best work for them.

This book does a superb job analyzing the psychology and motivations of the various types of Yankee fans. You will howl at the spot-on depictions of the many kinds of fans that flock to Yankee Stadium year after year with the same pomposity that was almost appropriate when they actually were a championship team. Highly recommended.

For all Yankee lovers...

John Tullius' "I'd Rather Be a Yankee" follows in the footsteps of Donald Honig's "Baseball When the Grass was Real" and Lawrence Ritter's "The Glory of Their Times" by letting the players "write" the book through the reporting of their great stories and reminiscences. Tullius combines his research with previous works to provide the reader with some great insight about these terrific Yankee teams and players. All the Yankee greats from the first 3/4th's of the 20th Century are featured in this fast-paced and intriquing book. Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, Berra, Stengel, Mantle and Jackson are all prominently featured.

And while, "I'd Rather Be a Yankee" probably won't "play" in Beantown, it will be warmly embraced in the Big Apple and by all Yankee fans.

Let Them Tell The Story

I've loved this book since I was a child. As far as Yankee history goes, it gives us the skeletal framework of the story, dispersed through the book at the beginnings of each chapter. However, the real reason this book is such a gem, is that the majority of it is told through the quotes of the people who lived through the events they describe. Some of these quotes are taken from previously published material, and therein are gathered some of Yankee Baseball's most memorable and bone chilling quips and one-liners. But in addition to those are stories told to the author himself, as he travelled the country, seeking to preserve the tales these men were burning to tell. Simply wonderful.

This book is highly recommended for any Dodger fan. The people who remember the Brooklyn Dodgers will enjoy seeing and reading about Ebbets Field and Gil, Pee Wee, Jackie, Campy, Duke, Oisk, Skoonj, Uncle Robbie and the rest. Newer Dodger fans get to see Sandy, Big D, Maury, Fernando and Steve Garvey along with Eric Gagne.

As a long time Dodger baseball fan (over 50 years), I found the book very informative, intereting reading, and sprinkled with good photos. Great book for any Dodger fan. The book does a good job in a chronilogical order of telling the story of the organization - players, management, and owners. There were many tidbits that I learned new or did not remember until reading the book.

Paul Deslauriers has written an extraordinary book that speaks clearly to the energetic exchanges that occur in relationships of all types. Through his sharing he provides clues for readers regarding the exchanges that are being experienced in daily interactions, thus pointing the way toward a cleaner, healthier, less stressful approach. If you are a trainer in an organization or just an individual who wishes to further your understanding of your interactions with others - this is an excellent read.

A mutual friend told me about this book when she was previewing it and it was her enthusiasm and recommendation that led me to purchase the book. I read the first half of the book in the first day (I couldn't put it down!) and then ordered additional copies to share with friends. For anyone who sees the world energetically - who takes in information about their surroundings in this manner - who translates experience by reading and feeling the energy of others and their surroundings - this book is an incredible confirmation. Paul Deslauriers shares - openly - his from his personal experience and talks in plain terms about the energetics of those experiences and how that information plays out in his life. Additionally, there is wonderful organizational information - and I, as a person who has done Organizational Training and Development, felt such a sense of upliftment to read experiences and beliefs which mirror my own in this realm. For me this book underlines that which I have believed to be true about the world, organizations, relationships. Whether you are in an organizational or personal relationship that finds you questioning its essence or parts, or you are ready for a dynamic read, you will love this book. It is a gift to read words that resonate so deeply. B.J.R.

Both Ken Norman and myself (Bob Brewster) were inspired to write this book to help the above average individual break free from old thinking so that he or she can enjoy both an above average income and an above average lifestyle. The 21st century will command a multiple source income philosophy...no demand it...if a person truly wants to be successful for the long term. Income Surfing is a philosophy...a way to live life...a way to get the most from the talents we all have but which most people fail to use to their fullest. Read Income Surfing. Like thousands of previous readers who have contacted us with very positive comments, you will not be disappointed!

It echos my own life's theme: "How and why go into the 21st century creating multiple income streams as a way to become prosperous and retain our freedom?". Could this be, as the book suggests, an upcoming worldwide trend?

Incredibly comprehensive, historically correct, and utterly fascinating telling of the history of Indiana University Basketball. I read this book cover to cover and even use it to look up different facts (like seeing if 45 points WAS the Assembly Hall shot clock record low point total).

If you are a fan of one of the most storied programs in NCAA history, the IU men's basketball team, this is as close to a must have as you can get.
