A wonderful thought provoking look at all of the intricacies of teaching. Denis Hayes has used his many years of experience to create a great resource for all of those involved in teaching. Whilst he focusses on the new teacher embarking on a career in teaching in the UK, his explanations, suggestions and examples make it just as relevant to teachers everywhere. He poses questions to be considered and gives actions to be followed, to help ensure that teaching is a positive and successful experience for all concerned. The book is divided into three sections. The first deals with the people involved in school, form teachers to students, and Governors to cleaners. The second section focusses on Learning and Teaching, identifying good practices and explaining why they work. Hayes uses some excellent case studies to make his point, encouraging the reader to ponder further on the issues raised. The book concludes with a section on Qualified Status that looks at professional responsibilitiews and avenues for career development. I have read many books on beginning teaching and find this one to be one of the most inspiring - it paints a picture of teaching that is challenging and rewarding, for all teachers, not only those who are just beginning their career.

Becca leaves her best friend and the ways of the city to live in a less populated area of Maine. Also has a wide of variety of options for unit studies for homeschooling. Ursa Major, 4th of July, Maine and its berries, etc. My children really enjoy reading it over and over.

I have had this cookbook for a couple of years. It is worn with use b/c the recipes are so great! Bought a second copy at Art Harvest last year! Fun & easy to use! Love the art work, too!

This book has children dressed up as pieces of fruit. The text is easy to follow for a child, no doubt they will soon be repeating cutie fruit (color name). The pictures are cute and the pages match the color they are talking about. A must have if your child likes Tom Arma books.

I've taken 4 TESOL courses with Dr. Ariza (2 Undergraduate and 2 Master's Level). Dr. Ariza is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to working with ESOL/LEP students. Because of the changing student population and related instructional needs in our modern day society, every teacher needs to be well-versed in ESOL strategies. Fortunately for teachers, many of the ESOL strategies serve double-duty as ESE strategies. The textbooks Ariza has written are ones every preservice and veteran teacher needs to keep for handy reference. Well worth every penny! Thank you Dr. Ariza for your dedication to TESOL.

Sylvan Learning Centers evaluated their reading at 1-4 years above grade level! Reading makes such a difference in future life! This particular set was one of my favorites too! We still play it for some of the very best sci fi tales ever! Supposed to be for 8th grade, but I like it too!

I gave this book 5 starss for its good look into galaxies, what they look like the different types. This book is good for childeren who are interested in space and want to learn more about galaxies. This book is definently for kids, or adults who know just about nothing of galaxies. It gives you a good look at all the different kinds of galaxies and the diffent forms they come in. I think that this book is great for all the people out there who have no idea what a galaxy is made of or how hey formed into what they are today. If you are really interested in learning things about space, I recomend the book stars. It tells you just about everything you need to know about stars and what they are made of. There are many other space books out there that will teach you just about everything you need to know. This book is good for just aobut everybody who is just start to learn.Over all this is a good book to have even if youre not interested in space, it still has great pictures to hang on the wall.

The book is suitable for a wide range of readers--from science educators to policy-makers to an education-concerned general public. The writing style is fluid and consistent, and the messages are relevant, timely. New science teachers can save lots of heartache "discovering" what works in terms of technology, lab skills, management skills, assessment, etc., etc. Veteran science teachers can recharge their batteries by feeding off of the passion that comes through the pages. Policy makers can get a glimpse into the complicated professional life of science teaching and better facilitate the vital work of educators as a result of reading the book. And the average citizen can access the view from "within the walls" of the school and use the information to craft a better educational experience for their own students in science. The only critique of the book is its length...it should be longer!

The Game Plan

I read the fiction book The Game Plan. It's a novel based on the major motion picture, adapted by Beth Beechwood. The book is about a super star football player named Joe Kingman, He gets a surprise daughter, at his door, named Peyton Kelly. The setting is in Boston. Joe's problem is that he has to take care of the daughter while the championship game is coming up. He's not sure if he can handle it.

I give this book 5 stars because it was very detailed and had many emotions you could feel in the book. I recommend this book to anyone because it a children's book and grown ups will enjoy it, too! I chose this book because I saw the commercial for the movie and I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie.

All recipes I have tried in this book I have used more than once. Menu and beverage suggestions are helpful. I wish this book was more readily available. It's a wonderful gift for any cook.
