I gave this book to my 8 yr old as a B-day gift and although she has not read it yet (She got about 20 other books and it'll take a while to get to all of them.) I have to admit that I did read it and I loved it. I liked Curious George as a child and I was so excited to see that he was making a come back. I could hardly wait to introduce my curious little lady to him. She has enjoyed the other Curious George books and I know she will like this one too. We can't wait till the movie comes out on DVD.

A wonderfully entertaining story - can't wait to see the movie

The publisher's description of the level this book is deceiving; it is described as a baby-preschool level book. Perhaps the story would appeal to that level (would have to read short passages to hold their attention), but the literacy level to read this book is around 7-11 years I would say. My son who is 10 and has always adored Curious George, read this book and considered it a little below his grade level of reading. It made the book a quick but enjoyable read for him. The title given as well as the spine of the book even indicates that it is a 'Junior Novel'. There is a small section of colorful photos from the movie but the pages of the book are primarily text with a few black and white sketches. My son thoroughly enjoyed this new 'George' adventure and hopes for more (can't wait to see the movie!). It was a real page turner for him.

"Dana's Best Friend" is a very nice book about friendship. The book made me feel that I was watching a movie about the book. The book made me remember when I was younger. I was planning to go to my friend's house for a party, but then I couldn't go and I was so upset. In this book, Becky a girl named Dana wants to go to her friend Becky's birthday party, but she also wants to go to Lila's last day at the gym. Lila is a person that helped the children if they need help witht their gymnastics.

I like this book because it is very interesting when Dana doesn't know which party she wants to go to. Why did the birthday party and Lila's party have to be on the same day? I would recommend this book to my friend. It would be good for her because she likes books that are amusing like this one. The author wants to entertain us. The lesson of "Dana's Best Friend" is that sometimes, it can be hard to choose and sometimes things ca go wrong. My favorite part is when Dana has to chose one party to go to. It was very amusing when I was up to that part. I also liked when the camera person told Dana to do the flip so she could be on TV. I like this part because I feel glad for Dana since it was her wish to be on TV. I think Dana really wanted to go to both parties.

I disliked the part when Becky was yelling at Dana because I felt sad for her. I wondered, would they be friends again? I would want them to be friends again forever. What will happen next year on the other birthday? "Dana's Best Friend" is a realistic fiction because it could really happen to someone. If you want to find out what happens, then read "Dana's Best Friend."

It was great!

This is THE BEST book I have read on math instruction. It fits my philosophy of sequential learning. It breaks every math skill into hierarchial steps, offers instructional presentation strategies, and assessment strategies. Every teacher of math needs to look at this book.

Whether you are a seasoned educator just being initiated to the DAP concept, or a student just beginning to savor the taste of the classroom world, this book is a must for your library. There is no element of early childhood education that DAP does not touch. Strategies of teaching and learning, activities and routines, the physical environment, classroom management, family evolvement, and assessment procedures are all enfluenced by the principles of age, individual, or social appropriateness!

Trumps Peterson's Book By An Edge Due To Balanced Presentation

Review Date: 2006-02-21
Once again, Prentice Hall displays why it remains a superforce in creating textbooks: its balanced and accessible research-based comprehensiveness. As with my first Chemistry book in high school, I believe this book possesses everything you will need to know about early childhood curriculum.

The former champion, in my opinion,--Evelyn Peterson's A PRACTICAL GUIDE OT EARLY CHILDHOOD CURRICULUM--gets bested here because this text presents, in a well-understood way, what Peterson's book also did well: present pratical explanations. This texts gets the slight edge because the authors ably worked in all the research and citations relevant to the concepts without overloading a teacher's mind with scholarship. It's a difficult feat that I have only seen one other time in an ECE text (J.A. Brewer's INTRODUCTION TO EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION).

Here's where you really get a smashing deal: this book will give you all you need to grasp the curriculum topics on the PRAXIS II: Education of the Young Child test.

The New Champion of Early Childhood Curriculum college textbooks. Take a bow and a victory lap.

Twenty-one-year-old Maggie Peyton has just graduated college, and is about to start a high-ranking, behind-the-scenes job at ESPN in the Big Apple. But first she must survive a month-long stint in her hometown of Riverside, California, where she is sure she will spend her time skateboarding. Oh yeah, and looking for a job that will cover her new apartment's first and last rent payments. However, when her father takes her to a used car lot, she is quickly drawn to Herbie, a white, '63 Love Bug that could use a bit of a paint job, as well as some other work under the hood. Which is how Maggie ends up getting involved with her best friend from high school, Kevin, who intends on fixing up Herbie, free of charge. The only catch is that Herbie has a complete mind of his own, and a heart for racing, which is how he and Maggie, along with Kevin, get mixed up with Trip Murphy, a professional racecar driver who bugs Herbie just as much as Maggie. Now the little car has decided that he's going to beat Trip in a race that Maggie's not even sure she wants to participate in. But when Herbie's driving, she has no choice.

I adore the past HERBIE movies, so hearing about the newest release HERBIE FULLY LOADED starring Lindsay Lohan, I knew that the film would capture my heart instantly. However, waiting is not one of my virtues, so when I saw the HERBIE FULLY LOADED novelization recently, I had to pick-it up. Irene Trimble has done a fabulous job of bringing the movie to life with this novelization. The characters are quirky and fun, and Herbie is completely adorable. While it is obvious from the movie trailers that the novelization cut parts of the movie out, it features enough to tide over any HERBIE fan until the movie is released to theaters. Overall, this is a must have novelization for HERBIE or Lindsay Lohan fans. You won't be disappointed!

I think this Treasure Planet book is really good. The pictures are great and the book is just like the movie. Jim finds a map and joins the crew. An alien first told him to beware of a cyborg. He sets sail on the ship as a cabin boy and Silver as the cook. Silver teaches Jim what he knows and is beginning to get a soft place for Jim. They find the treasure but it is a trap. They escape and Silver leaves the crew. I recommend this book to anyone who like short adventure stories.

I got this book to keep by the toilet (we are potty training). It was a smart move because this book keeps him totally mesmerized and makes him relax. It never gets old because there is so much information in this book for a young mind. It is not cluttered, but seems to be laid out with a child in mind. He particularity likes the castle and knight page. I'm considering getting the other books in this series too.

This is an awesome book! This book uses dramatic activities and process drama to explore the African American heritage. Each chapter is written by different teaching artists and/or educators who have actually used their lessons with students. The chapters are filled with their philosophy of using drama, why they chose a certain pre-text as well as the actual activity they implemented. Some chapters conclude with additional resources to help apply and understand the activity. Other chapters involve additional steps to specifically assist classroom teachers. The pretexts vary from African American folktales, pictures, songs, poetry, historical events and literature. Most of the chapters also provide the pretext. Unit 6 discusses using dramatic actives to deepen students understanding of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor.

If you need a textbook about the fundamentals of early literacy...

...it's the best: HANDS DOWN!

Without sounding cliched, I cannot name enough superlatives for this book, so I won't try. I'll just hit some excellent points that sold me on this book (and it's many previous editons).

First, it's under $80.00 or about as close as you can get for a textbook of this caliber. At first sight, it may not seem like such a big deal, but wait until you see what's inside!

Every page is printed in brillant color. Bright photos, clear large text, and TONS of tables and diagrams are abundant.

Let's talk about the organization. You name it, then it's got it. I was totally bowled over by an inclusion of sections on bibliotherapy and audio/visual reading equipment. Very rarely will you find a book with so many sections (six in all). Each chapter is further striated into tiny chunks of info that spill right into one another in a rational, logical flow...exactly what students need.

The fact that this book is in it's eighth edition should say something, too. The seventh edition was, in opinion, as perfect of a textbook as could be. Could this one top that one? The jury is still out on that.

Regardless, you would not spend your money better by choosing an alternative to this text. Please get this one.
