I loved this book because I can't go one day without seeing my favorite show. I watch Baywatch because I think it teaches kids how to save lives. I hope every Baywatch fan gets a chance to see this book!

I never thought it would work as a book--but it does!

They say that the book is always better than the movie--well, in this case, the book is even better than the TV show! The brilliant character development, heartstring-pulling drama and (va-va-voom!) delicious romance that once made Baywatch the world's #1 TV show have been pulled together into this award-winning Junior Lifeguard Photo Album! (Well, I don't know if it's really award-winning, but it SHOULD be!)

Honestly, we're not talking about "character development" or "plot" here--we're talking about bazoombas! Big ones! And lots of 'em! Of your very own junior lifeguard! What could be better?

I don't know if it really is the dream of every young girl to make millions of dollars by having grotesquely large billybobs (although it certainly was mine), but this Junior Photo Album will make that dream come alive

A very good book!!

I think this book was a very good book. It had alot of very good pictures in it. I expessially like the ones of Cody, he's so hot. I all so like how they based the book on pictures that Hobie took. I all so like how they made it seem that the Baywatch team is so close.

This has lots of great and easy to use activities. I found it on the website for the American Chemical Society (for a fraction of the cost) after a science professor recommended it to us for homeschool.

This book has everything to help kids wonder about science through hands-on projects. I recommend it highly, and I've been working with kids for years. You won't run out of ideas in this big big book. The only downside is chosing which ones to do!

This book is a "must have" for elementary teachers.

Elementary teachers! This is the one you've been looking for. This is a collection of very do-able experiments, with easy to understand directions for students (and teacher), materials that are readily available, and covering every science topic taught in grades 4-6. And the best part: If your science background is a little limited, this book has a quick, to the point, explanation of each experiment-it states what will happen and why. In my opinion, this book is aptly titled "The Best..."

I just finished reading Beyond Paradise and I loved it. The author, Jane Hertenstein, used wonderful description, and I had a picture of each scene painted in my head. This book is a great way to teach us about the tragedies that took place in other countries during World War II.
This book is about a fifteen year old girl, Louise and her family. They move to the Philippines during the beginning of World War II. As her father goes out to meet their friend's son, he is captured by the Japanese. Louise's Mother then feels awful and is too weak to do anything. Next, her family is captured too, but they are sent to a different internment camp called Santo Tomas Internment Camp. After suffering a whole year there she is told they well be set free. Everyone piles onto a ship when they are informed that they are just being sent to another camp. Then, it occurs to Louise that this was the camp her father was at. When she finally arrives she is informed that her father was just sent away. Finally she meets up with her father and they are all in the same camp together. After another year the American soldiers come and set them free. Louise becomes friends with a young soldier but eventually has to say a sad goodbye when Louise Keller returns to America.
I recommend this book to anyone from ages 9-13. It has a wonderful plotline and extremely interesting characters. I was always eager to turn the page and find out what happened next.

...you'll love Beyond Paradise. Ms. Hartenstein's writing is subtle and beautiful. She handles a horrific experience, interrment during WWII, gently but honestly, for young readers. The main character, Louise, keeps a journal of poetry. These lovely poems are sprinkled through the text. I highly recommend this book, and I hope Ms Hertenstein writes more! END

As a nine to twelve year old girl in the Japanese internment camp, Santo Tomas Internment Camp in Manila, P I, I had many of the same experiences as Louise Keller. I was several years younger than Louise but the accuracy of Jane Hertenstein's novel is amazing. A friend gave me the book on Wednesday afternoon. I read the book Wednesday evening and was "blown" away. My memories came flooding in and my emotions flooding out. Ms. Hertenstein has done her homework. I would love to get in touch with her just to tell her how much I appreciated reading Beyond Paradise and that I have ordered six copies for my friends and my sister. I know of three different groups who are, at this time, are on their way over to the Philippines for the fifty fifth reunion of our liberation from the Japanese. By the way, I was born in Iloilo on the island of Panay in the Philippines!

Louise Boyd Cadwell had done an exceptional job in bringing the reader into a school using the Reggio Approach. "Bringing Learning to Life" is a practical view of the everyday learning that can happen in a classroom. Cadwell's vivid descriptions of her honest thoughts, activities with the students, and the collaboration that goes on between the teacher makes one feel as if they are right there in the classroom. The pictures help intensify that feeling of first hand participation in this school. Cadwell isn't afraid of sharing with the reader their shortcomings and this helps the reader realize that the Reggio Approach is one of constant change. If the reader didn't know about the Reggio Approach, after reading "Bringing Learning to Life" they would.

Wonderful follow up to "Bringing Reggio Home" by Cadwell

I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in finding out more about the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. While it can stand on its own, it is much better read as a follow up to Louise Cadwell's first book "Bringing Reggio Home" or after reading other resources on Reggio. I enjoyed the practical implications of connecting Reggio approach to classrooms in the United States, and found the colorful photographs a great resource!

With Louise being my mother I am biased. However I read the book purely out of curiosity to be able to understand what my mom has been doing all these years. To my surprise I came away with a much broader understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach as well as of my mother.

Additionally, Building the Primary Classroom is a "must have" for teachers who are pursuing National Board Certification.

I'm a new coach and find myself responsible for three different sports during the year. This book helped me incredibly. It discusses different exercise regimens for athletes in different sports, and it provides a booklet for each athlete! I simply duplicated the copy in the book and was able to give it to all my kids so they could guide their own workouts. I think every coach should buy and use this book. I've never seen anything like it.

Ohhhh, brother! The worst HMO in the world wouldn't tolerate these shenanigans!

Amelia Bedelia is "helping out" again, in that special way that only Amelia can! Just imagine our favorite literal-minded thinker in the wonderful world of medicine -- and there you have it! They say laughter is the best medicine, and Calling Doctor Amelia Bedelia is guaranteed to cure whatever ails 'ya!

Teens in the house were howling with laughter as they read it out loud to the younger kids. The whole family will enjoy this book.

Highly recommended!

Calling Doctor Amelia Bedelia by Herman Parish, like all of his Amelia Bedelia books, is hysterically funny. Parish's use of expressions confuse Mr. Rogers' maid, Amelia Bedelia, throughout the entire story. Poor, silly, Amelia Bedelia never realizes how confused she really is. She takes everything anyone says literally, so when her boss Mr. Rogers says "jump in the car", she thinks that he actually means to sit in the car and jump.
In this story, Amelia Bedelia goes to the doctor. However, when she gets there the nurse asks for Amelia Bedelia's help with the patients. A woman who calls the doctor's office to complain that she has "caught a bug" is told to "let it go" by Amelia Bedelia. She proceeds to tell a woman who has hives to bring some honey to the doctor's office. She looks at a bank's clock to take a patient's temperature and she tells a boy to draw his own blood onto a piece of blank paper. A boy says that he is at the office for a test and Amelia Bedelia tells him that he must go to school.
No matter what Amelia Bedelia did for most of the book, she is a hit when she "treats" the patients to ice cream! This is not exactly what the nurse had in mind when she said to treat the patients, however, Amelia Bedelia comes out looking like a hero!
Amelia Bedelia is entertaining to the adults who read this story to children because we have an even better sense of Amelia Bedelia's silliness. I love reading this story to my second graders and they love hearing it!
