Spreading Equine InfectionReview Date: 2003-08-07
What truly shines is the writing, which is clear and concise, written in a form easily understood.
It is an ideal book for a parent to read to a young child, or for a child to learn to read.
So far as the subject matter, it won't tell the experienced horse person what he or she didn't already know. But for those non horsey type parents who are thinking about sending their children to riding school, it may be enough to turn the endeavor into a family affair.
Well done, five stars.

The Power of WonReview Date: 2008-09-03
Great expectations, everybody's watching you
People you meet, they all seem to know you
Even your old friends treat you like you're something new"
(Eagles)
There's a new book in town, and the secret is out.
Even a dedicated underachiever like Caleb Dunne submits to peer pressure (or rather, girlfriend pressure) and reluctantly finds himself a part of a rapidly expanding school club based on the new book "The Rule of Won".
The thing is, the club members seem pretty obsessed by the teachings of the book, the latest big thing to hit Screech Neck High School in recent memory, and the self proclaimed leader Ethan Skinson is pulling out all the stops.
And then there's Ethan's sister Alyssa, who has a secret of her own, and the guys from the Newspaper Club who are ready to write an expose against all odds.
Caleb is happy to go with the flow and ride the tide if it will make Vicky happy, but when things start getting out of control in a big way, he has to decide whether it's time to take a stand against the group, and Ethan.
A high school tale about peer pressure and the difficulties to be expected when one dares to be different; the story also has a nice little touch of the supernatural to spice it up, and is recommended for readers from age 12 and up.

Another great book from Richard and Kevin Carlson!Review Date: 2003-02-02
even know it existed. Through these three stories I have learned that they
are just normal people with a mental disease who are trying to get better.
The stories did not only teach me something but entertained me too I really
like the characters in these stories. I felt like they could be friends of
mine.
These stories were excellent and the illustrations as always were great!
My sister liked this book too. She kept trying to steal it from me! I
always look forward to reading new books by Mr. Carlson and Kevin. I think
this book is a must have for kids of ALL ages. I enjoyed reading it very
much. You will too!

A Little Help for a Little CritterReview Date: 2005-12-12
Seeing all the people makes Little Critter nervous. He hopes that his nervousness will go away before he gets on stage, but it doesn't. Then, though, something unexpected happens to help Little Critter out.
This is a cute story featuring the trademark illustration style of the Little Critter series, with plenty of visual gags (this time mostly involving a little mouse) thrown in for added humor. Anyone who's ever have to give some sort of performance or speech before should be able to identify with this story.

Mega Sleepover Club 4 Review Date: 2004-09-13

You'd be wet behind the ears to miss thisReview Date: 2004-08-12
The reader is grabbed by the attention to detail and reasoned arguments displayed by Root as she points out that "sometimes on Saturdays the sun comes out". The hilarious anecdote about "that Saturday two Decembers ago when it snowed" will have you laughing out loud, and the touching third chapter - "one Saturday it got a bit foggy" - left this reviewer reaching for the Kleenex.
Fans of Root's previous work will not be disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed her last two books, "Saturated Sunday" and "Muggy Monday". "Soggy Saturday" is, essentially, more of the same, but when Root's compelling prose is as enjoyable as it is captivating, that really is no bad thing.
I hear she's already planning a sequel - "Wet Wednesday". I, for one, will be pre-ordering it as soon as possible.
Not to be missed.
