Heartland Books

I really liked this book. Even though I'm an older reader (52) who collects horse fiction, and its out of my age bracket, I found it to be very readable and it held my interest. Its a wonderful book for the young teen. The main character, Amy, learns some significant lessons in life after her mother dies in a tragic accident, and she is left to run the horse rescue by herself. She learns that life does go on, and responsibilites must still be realized, even in the face of tragedy. The characters in this book are likeable, the horses and horse terminology are realistic, and the book is not overly mushy or boring. It moves pretty quickly, and has a taste of suspense at times. All in all, I believe this book would be an excellent gift for a young, horse crazy girl! I would have greatly appreciated having it when I was at that age where horses were just about my whole world, and boys came second!

This is a beautiful, touching story of love , strength , hope , and regeneration after an agonizing loss.
Even though it is a young adult novel, I recommend it to anyone of any age.

Heartland-Coming Home

Heartland is a place of dreams and horses and that's where Amy's heart belongs. Heartland is a place like no other, breaks painful memories and teaches horses to trust again. To what I know Amy's calls Heartland home like no other place in the entire world. Amy loves her family very much and especially her mom. She loves her mom because she has don many things for her. I think Amy likes having her mom's gift, having to be able to understand what they need. And saving the animals by teaching them to stay healthy and stay trusting.

This book is mostly about a girl named Amy. And Amy is trying to help these horses that can't trust anyone anymore. And later in the book something bad happens. Someone get into a terrible accident. But you have to read the book to find out.

Bought this for my 15 year old daughter. She loved it and actually read it. Which is always nice to have a teenager read!

This is about a girl who loved horses, and her mother owned a ranch called "Heartland". They take care of and help any type of horse. One day they went to rescue a horse and her mom died from getting hit by a falling tree. Amy is left to save Heartland.
I think this story is really good. It reminds me of my life because I take care of horses. I also think that Amy will safe Heartland and be just like her mother. Also I think Amy and Ty will get together. I would recommend this book to people because this story is sad and truthful about life.

My title review is SO!!!! true. Although this book does put ALOT of pressure on Amy it's the best EVER!!!!. Romantically speaking Amy,Ty,Ben and Soraya were all invited to the Grant's every year christmas party that is the most popular.Ashley Grant only invites them because she likes Ben and because she knows that Ben won't go without them.During that party Matt tries to make a move on Amy since he likes her but she automatically backs off and repeats the message that she only wants to be friends then AMY and Ty get alone on the dance floor and ty sends the message that he in turn likes Amy. At the end the second last page of that lovely book is when finally ty KISSES amy and she is so shocked and confused because she has looked at him as a brother all her life and is afraid that the relationship they had before ty had feelings for her might change and so asks him to give her some more time.And also in other parts grandpa gets pneumonia and gets terribly sick and Lou travels to England in search of her father because of her desperate need to contact him.

I apsolutely LOVED THIS BOOK! I think it's the best book I have read out of the Heartland series I own! Ty and Amy belong together and I love their relationship!!!!! I give this book 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a GREAT book!!! It was the first Heartland book i read after that I couldent stosp! And like the person before me I go CRAZY when i Dont have a Heartland book!!!!(I dont have one now but im DIYING to get book 15!)

This book was AWESOME!!! Ashley invites Matt, Soraya, Ben, Amy and Ty to her christmas party becuase Ashley likes Ben. Matt tries to have Amy as a girlfriend but Amy just wants to be friends. Jack gets sick and it's sad but he gets better. Lou went to England to find their dad. The part I loved the most was when Ty and Amy KISSED in the end. I read it over and over again. They do go out in other books(#10). They make a perfect couple!

I discovered this book series in dec. 04' I bought the vol. 1 edition(and saved tons of money by doing so I recomed doing that)and LOVED it I read all 3 of the books in vol.1 in 3 days!
If that gives you any idea of how additing it can be! It made me cry when pegaus died:( Well anyhow I bought vol. 2 just the other day and have now finished the book! "one day you'll know" is the best one yet! Now I know how the web sites say ages 8-12
well im 13 and I think it just a little bit to "invloved" with the kissing and all(which was really cool I read it over and over agin)for 8&9 year olds no offense to you at all. The party at the Grant's was one of the best parts esepally when Matt tryed to make a move on Amy but she said they were only friends. than Amy danced with Ty (who really hot on the cover! I dont see why amy didn't like him before!)and Matt got mad and started dating Ashley(that was mean!). Then Jack got sick and lue went to londen and Daybreak being stubern and got sick too!
the drama never ends! But thats why Im so hooked! and as a final note read this sereies from the begining even though every book fills you in you miss a lot of drama! This series sould never end well I dont want it to be like the throghbred books there bad and they just keep comen' there's like 82 of them! After you finish heartland I suggest you read the phamtom stallion books there good too! But heartland will alway be the best ever!!!!!!!!!!

THIS BOOK HAS MADE ME FEEL SO CHERISHED AND SECURE . IT'S SERIES HAS TAUGHT ME SO MUCH ABOUT HORSES AND HOW MUCH LOVE THAT I HAVE FOR THEM. IN THIS BOOK AMY IS GRADUATING AND LEAVING HEARTLAND FOR VIRGINIA TECH TO BE AN EQUINE VET. IT HAS SOME ROMANTIC PARTS AND LEAVES YOU HANGING ONTO THE QUESTION "WILL AMY AND TY GET MARRIED"? THE TRUTH IS THEY WON'T AND WORSE THAN THAT THEY WILL BREAK UP. IT'S VERY VERY SAD FOR THOSE WHO WERE HOPING FOR AMY AND TY'S RELATIONSHIP TO GO ON THAT INCLUDES ME BUT THEY JUST WEREN'T MEANT FOR EACH OTHER!!!

The Heartland Series is one of the best books that I've ever read. It is the story of a girl, Amy, and her happiness and troubles on her farm Heartland. Her mother dies in a car accident while trying to save a horse. Amy if left injured in the hospital. Once she recovers from her injureies she relizes that she was the one who caused her mother's accident. She refuses to come out from her room and see her friends and family. In order to try and get Amy back into life again her friends throw her a party. I won't tell you anything else because that would ruin the fun of reading it. But take my word for it and read this series.

This was the best series of books I've ever read!!! I am really rating the entire series, not just the last book, it was the best series of books I've ever read! The only thing I didnt like was that in book thirteen Darkest Hour Ty is in a coma at the end of the book and I couldn't stop reading until I had read the backs of the other books to the point that I figured out that he actually woke up at some point. And about Fanfare, why does Amy get mad at Ty instead of Lou, I mean, Ty was the one who would have actually told her. That doesn't make sense! But still, best series of books I ever read!

Wonderful! Age appropiate. My horse loving pre-teen is really enjoying them. She started with the #1 series. We are ordering 5 series at a time.

Amy has decided to take in a horse named Spartan, which is the horse that they went to save in the big storm. Spartan was in the same car wreck that Amy and her mom were in. Spartan is still scarred from the wreck. When he comes to Heartland he remembers Amy, and he doesn't like her because he remembers her from the wreck. Amy has to start working with Spartan, but it is dangerous because he keeps trying to hurt her because he is scared. At first Amy didn't want to work with Spartan, but then after a couple of weeks she decides that she will work with him. She goes into his stall and he starts kicking and raring up at her, but Amy doesn't get hurt. Amy's sister and grandpa just happened to see it all happen. They don't think that Spartan is a safe horse and they want to put him to sleep. Amy doesn't want that though, because she knows that Spartan will get better. Amy's Grandpa and Amy's sister decide to go to the movies and invite Amy to come. Instead Amy acts like she is sick and stays home so she can join up with Spartan, which means she is going to try to get him to trust her again. When they leave to the movies Amy goes to Spartans stall and takes him out to the round pin. She starts lunging him. Then she takes the lunge line off and Spartan doesn't do anything and he doesn't try to hurt Amy. When her grandpa and sister got home she showed them that Spartan wouldn't hurt her. That changed their mind about putting him to sleep. Amy started working with Spartan more and started taking him to some shows. At one show Amy finds Spartans old owner, Larry Boswell. Larry see's how good Spartan is doing and decides that he would like to buy Spartan for his grandaughter Hannah to show. And he did, and Hannah ended up showing Spartan after he was healed at Heartland by Amy.

This book is a very good but I think it could of had a better ending because it would be so sad to see someone read this amazing bookand end not finshing it because it is so sad and such a bad ending. Most people like a ending where the person who really wants something it better when they get it.So if you ever read this book you should finsh it to the end because there is no story better than a sad story because it exspress you r true emotions

I personally have not read these books, but I have been purchasing them for my niece for special gifts, for her. After I gave her the first three books she said she really enjoyed them, because she likes horses alot. Then when I gave her a few more she was very excited because she didn't realize there were more in the series. In March I will have given her through book 10, so there are still more to come for her. I enjoy giving the gift of reading to children.

In 5th grade my AG reading teacher told me about the Heartland seires I used to not like to read but these books hve changed my mined!I am on #15 but Every New Day is my absolut favorite Heartland book! I love the new charachters and the new setting!! I loved the way Huten (amys moms freind) works with his horses and helps with Murcery I wish I could Give it thousands of stars!!!!!( I will Be sooooo Sad when I Have read them all but im looking faward to the nw series Chesnut Hill!)

This book is Very Good. In the book Amy takes a horse mucerey that once loved to jump but now he refuses even the tinyest jumps. When Amy can not figure out the problem she takes mucrurey to a guy (Huten) that once new Amy's mom. Amy had seen the man work his own horse and she thought they had a very speical bond. Once Amy is there it is almost time to leave and her and Huten haven't worked with mucerey one bit, instead Huten takes amy out on walkes and talkes about stuff. Read this book to find out if what happens. I would recomend this book to any horse lover(like me). I Really LOVED it.

This book is so cool. Whenever Amy and Ty are alone together, I just want to be with them!

This was my all time fav tied with new beginnings. amy goes 2 the appilachians with mercury, a horse that wont jump. the reason amy takes him is because she wonders if the ppl there could help mercury. when amy gets there, huten, a native american friend of her mom (,and a wise horse healer), doesnt seem 2 do anything 2 mercury. instead he helps her understand with strange sayings. but wat huten says is really true. go out and buy it NOW!!!! :) peace out,
a huge heartland fan

Having lived in Saudi Arabia--Riyadh to be exact--on two different occasions over a twenty-year period, I found "If Olaya Street Could Talk," a most interesting narrative on the life of an expat. I think Mr. Jones was wisely cautious in not mentioning names in his narrative, and did a rather masterful job in tiptoeing around sensitive issues, while at the same time giving the reader a feel for the excitement and frustrations that are part of living and working in that part of the world. And as cautious as he was, I understand that his book is still haram--forbidden--in the Kingdom. Yes, as fascinating as that part of the world is, it is still a long way from being an open society. Regardless, I recommend this book for those who have and have not been to that part of the world.

I have just finished reading "If Olaya Street Could Talk" and highly recommend it to anyone interested in Saudi Arabia. It will have special appeal to any "expats" who have worked in Riyadh or at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital. I worked there in the late 70's and while I don't recall ever meeting John Paul Jones, he has managed to capture the essence of the dramatic changes that many of us, including the Saudis, experienced on a personal, cultural and societal level. It is a rare pleasure to read something positive about living in Saudi Arabia, its history and the Saudi people.

Congratulations to Mr. John Paul Jones for writing an excellent book on Saudi Arabia for us western readers. At last here is a book that rings true. I have a chance to go to Saudi Arabia in December and was in two minds about it, but after reading "If Olaya Street Could Talk"...I will take up the offer, and who knows, I might even visit Olaya Street. Moving on to another matter, I am sick to the teeth with this pushy Jean Sasson person who is for ever singing her own praises at every given opportunity. I have read two of her books about Saudi Arabia, both are tabloid sensationalism, and do not ring true at all. This woman is now trying to steal the thunder of Mr. John Paul Jones's success by posting and advertising her own trashy books on his review pages.

The diplomat and author Sir A.T. Wilson once wrote,"Arabia retains to an extraordinary degree the power of conquering hearts," and it is obvious that the heart of John Paul Jones is one of those conquered. In this lively and thoughtful work the author celebrates the freedom of the desert - a place where you can drive without restraint in any direction for days on end, the beauty of the unpolluted night sky and the allure of ancient places, where the generosity of the poorest nomad who will slaughter his last sheep for a total stranger because that is what you do for a guest still lives.

But all is not romanticism in this book and as he writes in any population there is a 10% that will cause 90% of the problems and he is very explicit about this ten per cent - be they smug Americans or sanctimonious Saudis, that disappoint one's hopes and expectations. Mr. Jones is a perceptive realist who writes clearly about those trouble makers without losing sight of the vast majority of Saudis, Americans and others who made his 25 years in Saudi Arabia such a delight. I would heartily recommend If Olaya Street Could Talk to those relative few of us expatriates who ever lived in Arabia for any period of time and also to the many who ever considered what it would be like to live in this most astonishing desert kingdom.

This was an easy book to read...really informative of an expats life in Saudi Arabia for the past 25 years, and the massive changes going on there. The trips he and his family took through the Arabian desert were all the more interesting with the inclusion of a well marked map in the back of the book...grand idea. You actually feel that you have seen these places, and know the people he talks about. Now I want to read more about his wife and childrens life in Saudi Arabia, and about the other travels that they took over the years throughout that area and in Europe. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in a bit of the real Saudi Arabia. A very good read. Way to go, John Paul!

This book is the real deal! Truly authentic. Just like my Nonis cooking. Try the tortellini recpie and cookem in Chicken broth, en brodo! You will die and go to food heaven!

I love cookbooks, and I love to cook. I have an extensive library of cookbooks, and this one is absolutely one of the best. The instructions are clear, the food is exquisite, and, above all, this book is a pleasure to read. I love learning the history of the recipes, the anecdotes add to the enjoyment. This is by no means a basic cookbook, it is definitely for the cook who goes beyond the basics, and many of the recipes require a long list of ingredients and lots of time. The results, however, are well worth the effort, and, for those who enjoy cooking, this book is a must.

I used to work in a great italian restaurant. One of the books from the chef's library that stood out was this one. It has great recipes. Very true to the food. Close your eyes. Pick a recipe. Make it and its a hit!
I am one that LOOOOVES to "twik" recipes. With this book, there is no need.

This is a fantastic book. At first glance I set it aside as it looked labor-intensive, but as I tried it out I've had nothing but great results. Most recipies involve a *lot* of overall time and work, especially getting some of the ingredients (hard to find veal neck bones) but so far worth it!

I adore this book. I love sitting down just to read the histories and evolutions of dishes. And I love the actual recipes I've made so far from it.

But most importantly, I've learned not to be afraid to make homemade pastas thanks to Kasper's easy conversational style.

The pasta doughs are simple and forgiving, and the pastas are delicious, filling, and a huge cost and nutrition savings compared to packaged.

I found this book to be heart warming, informative and, most of all,clear. I was drawn into the stories and the teaching, reading uninterrupted for hours. In the end, I realized that I was at a new beginning.

If you are interested in seeking, practices, the way to get there, skip this book. If you want to see that you are already enlightened, how life might work out and allow the journey to end, this book is it.

After being blown away by the Joan's authetic admission of her own (human) inauthenticity in 'Bare Bones Meditation', I've discovered that it is possible to be authentic beyond the bare bones. In this book she reaches down to the marrow. A true dharma heir to Bodhidharma or to the trafic jam occuring just now, whichever you prefer.

I discovered Awake in the Heartland while exploring information on Advaita. I had encountered Zen in 1960 and have meandered my way along various paths. The title intrigued me since I had lived in 'heartland America' in the 70's and most such books tend to have californian dimension. The magic of the book form is the mixture of real life and ideas - the human dimension of the exploration of awareness. Everyday miracles - you must read this.

Of all the books that I have read, Joan Tollifson's, "Awake In The Heartland", is the one book I want to share with all of my friends. Her story is unique in this genre in that Joan shares this material as if each and every reader were a long lost friend. Personal and open, deeply moving and alive, Joan invites us into her life with the absolute and uncompromising awareness of a true and genuine human being. I am very grateful to have found this powerful and clear expression of love and presence as it exists in the eternal now.

Awake in the Heartland changed my life. I had been practicing Buddhism for 20 years but never understood that the mirage character (what I call 'me') was not the one to wake up. Also that the path is not about trying harder, as most religions encourage, but about relaxing into what is. It gave me completely new insights as to the way to work. I bought two of the books--one as a loaner--as mine is now completely marked up. It's full of life experiences, not just theory, and resulted in uproarious laughter at many points. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in the spiritual path. It turns it upside down. It turns it from a demand into a joy, and it's fun reading.

This one was on of my favourite book in this series!Its about:Amy's dad finally comes to visit heartland.Amy doesn't want to meet him but Lou does.Well Amy and her dad get along together suprisingly well while Lou keeps a distance from her father because she doesnt want to admit that she is scared of horses because of his accident.I love the way Amy and her father get along together in this book.You mus DEFINETLEY read this one!

The Heartland stories are good, but the titles are very weird. I mean, "Thicker than Water?" What does that have to do with horses? "One day You'll Know?" "Breaking Free?" "Love is A Gift?"
No offense or anything, but these titles should change or something.

If you enjoy horses than Heartland Thicker Than Water is a book for you. It's a kind of novel that you never want to put down. This book is about a girl named, Amy, a 15 year old horse trainer who tries to get frightened, and abused horses to trust again. She is a very kind, concerned, yet confused person. She and her family live on a horse farm in the hills of Virginia. There are a lot of conflicts in this novel, but the most important one is that Amy's dad, Tim, whom she hasn't seen in 12 years, is coming to Heartland. She feels that he should just stay out of her life, because she is still angry at him when he abandoned her and her family. Her sister Lou feels totally different. She feels that Amy and she need to give him a chance.

I found this novel wonderful, and amazing. I liked it so much because I feel that Lauren Brooke did an awesome job of describing the way the characters were thinking, it was almost as though I was in their heads. I also enjoyed it because it had so much suspense that I couldn't wait to turn the page. You could almost see Amy's mind and heart fighting between loving and hating her dad.

The book that I choose to read is called, Come What May. This story is about a girl named Amy who lives at a horse clinic called Heartland. Amy and the 2 other stable hands, Ty and Ben love horses and try to keep the clinic running smoothly. One day, a desperate old man calls saying that he has a horse, named Melody who belonged to his wife who recently passed away. Melody is pregnant and the man doesn't know how to deal with a pregnant horse, so Heartland takes her in. When Melody gets there she has trouble getting out of the trailer and bolts as soon as she is out she try's to jump a fence and gets stabbed by the wood! A vet comes and takes care of it but cannot tell if the baby is still alive! While Amy is trying to take care of Melody, her older sister Lou is trying to get in touch with their father who abounded them when they were a baby. Amy's mother had died a while back and her grandfather was taking care of her. When Amy found out that Lou was trying to see her dad, she was furious! She was mad at him for abounding her. Now the question is, Is Melody and her baby going to survive? Will Amy be forced to see her dad read the book to find out?

I read this book 2 times and I love this bookincluding the end where Daybreak( the foal) is born alive if anyone hasn't read this book read all the 4 books 'cause this book is awsome and cool!
