I bought the electronic version hoping to get some side material for running a tournament, but found that the reference book
has some of the most complete and useful rule systems for all sorts of games. Not only did it have everything I wanted for
tournaments, it also has very well thought-out and realistic drinking rules, all sorts of tavern games and competitions, and
a great little system for figuring out what to do with the hoards of NPC's who are competing against each other in ladder-style
tournaments. No player wants to sit through hours of watching NPC 34 joust against NPC 89. And now they don't have to. I loved
the electronic version so much I had to order the print version for quicker reference. I hope to see more products from this
publisher soon. I have to say it's at least as useful to me as Expeditious Retreat's "Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe"
or the "DM's Toolbox" by AEG. Well done, Mystic Eye Games and Natural 20 Press
The best place to look for midevil games.

Not only are there rules for true games, like greased pig wrestling, but it also has rules for tournements, like the footlists
and joust. And it contains an easy system to determine the winner of the fights that the PC's arent involved in. Also, there
are spell caster contests that most should find entertaining, amoung other things.

It's hard to find a book about the Pack that is bad. It's a good read for any true Wolfpack fan --a good trip down memory
lane. The picture section in the middle of the book is nicely done and a good addition to the text. Would recommend for any
NC State fan!

A veritable history of chess over the last 150 years

A very fine work which provides an entertaining and quite detailed account of chess history over the last 150 years that have
seen battles between American and European chess geniuses (for example Morphy triumphing over the European masters, the brilliant
and tragic Pillsbury, the great Capablanca (undoubtedly the greatest genius ever to play chess), Reshevsky, and with special
emphasis on the rise of Fischer, a player of indomintable will and genius and his ultimate triumph that catapulted him to
the status as one of the greatest players to ever play the game. I highly recommend this book.
Chess with an edge

Daniel Johnson has written about a fascinating era of chess with the gripping edge of a seasoned sportswriter, though he certainly
hasn't had to lower himself into the ranks of such ink-stained wretches. His descriptions of the tension-filled scenarios
are done with flair...even if you are not that interested in chess, this book entertains and informs at every turn. He's got
the details down pat, introducing the novice reader to Mikhail Tal and Alan Turing and many other characters dotting the landscape
of international chess.

Excellent summary of 1956 Candidates

The 1956 Amsterdam Candidates Tournament gave Vassily Smyslov a passeage to a second World Championship match with Mikhail
Botvinnik.
This reprint of the original tournament book from the late 1950s, although at times the text is extremely fuzzy (it is only a reprint after all) gives a very good account of all the games played during the 1956 Candidates tournament, explaining very clearly how games were won, lost and drawn. There is always a clear understanding of what the players were doing throughout each game in the tournament, and its progress is monitored much more closely than any simple book on chess history or even many previous books I have read on World Championship matches.
There is also an excellent section dealing with the background to the tournament and how the contestants were expected to perform - and how they did.
An impressive document, easy to read despite the outdated (but familiar to me) descriptive notation used to make the reprint more affordable. Excellent investment for anybody interested in Chess.

Winning the candidates' competition is the ultimate and uniquely necessary passport to achievement of glory on the World Chess
Championship stage.
Only four contenders in the organised history of the World Chess Championship have ever succeeded in winning the "Candidates" twice - these were Spassky, Korchnoi, Karpov and Vassily Smyslov.
Having won the 1953 Candidates and drawn with Botvinnik in 1954, Smyslov returned to the charge with an equally devastating performance in the 1956 qualifier, surging ahead of Keres, Bronstein , Spassky , Geller and Petrosian. Combined with the companion Hardinge Simpole volume on the World Championship Candidates Tournament of 1953 this book completes a record of staggering tournament expertise and determination by the immortal Smyslov.
The author is well known journalist Barry Wood, member of the English Olympiad team, Chess Correspondent for the Daily Telegraph and for many years Editor-in-Chief of Chess Magazine, ably assisted by the former German (latterly Irish/South African) master Wolfgang Heidenfeld. As before the eye witness accounts guarantee the accuracy and depth of the notes

I highly recommend this book (along with its predecessor "100 Winning Tips ..") for intermediate players who want to do well
playing duplicate bridge. The bite-sized and extremely applicable tips are guaranteed to take your game to the next level.
Mr. Klinger talks about duplicate strategies for bidding, declarer play as well as defense. For example the correct strategy
for play of the hand depends on whether you think you are in the ideal but hard to find contract (play it safe) or an inferior
contract (go all out for the overtrick to make up).

Tuesday's game was great! It was so phat. I think the blazers are ill. The best part was when pippen sunk that 3 to win
by 1. Bryon Russell was gaurding him but pippen faked him out and launced the long range 3-pointer from way downtown.Pippen
was throwing excellent passes 2 his teammates. Stoudamire was outstanding. He was scoring 3's every 5 seconds. The book
deserves 5 stars.peace.e-mail me at caseyc@adelphia.net ,or casey@krazymp3z.com , or pimpflex88@hotmail.com .e-mail me.my

I really like hockey, and it gave me a feeling for every goal made against them and by them; like you were actually on the
ice. I had a lot of fun reading this book. The characters seemed real. Tristan, age 12.
Note from his dad: I did not read the book, but it sure held my son's attention, and this is a young person who really likes sports and DOES not like to read.
