If your kid is getting serious about squash and you want to learn about the sport, this well-written book is a must read.
It covers every topic you may want to know. Even parents who have been taking their kids to lots of squash tournaments will
learn some things from this book.

Yes, the book covers Arsenal's great first double-winning season of 1970-71. Bu the most striking, most successful asoect
of the book is that so much of the story comes directly from the mouths of the people involved in achieving the double. And,
since it comes from a variety of mouths, then we - as readers - can feel we have received the well-rounded 'truth,' as opposed
to a single author telling it from his single perspective.
The variety also makes for entertaining reading, and I found myself surprised by some of the things said. They shed light on players and areas of the 70-71 season that I hadn't known.
A good read for any football fan, I believe, and of course an absolute must-have for any true Gooner.

Amazing modern games collection

This book is incredible, from the high production values to the dense and thorough annotations. This is all the major games
played in 2000 with incredible annotations. Lots of good interviews with top players. The only weird thing is how these
Chess Stars guys act like the Kasparov-Kramnik match wasn't legitimate, and that Khalifman and Anand are the real world champions,
based on the FIDE knockout things. So there is coverage of the "World Championship" of 2000, but the Kasparov-Kramnik match
is mentioned as a sort of footnote, like it was of little significance. But everyone knows that the K-K match in 2000 did
historically determine the new champion, Krmanik, and that history will never show that Khalifman was a champion, even though
he was FIDE champ for a year. Despite this self-delusion, the authors have put together an amzing book, that is the best
modern games collection I know.

As usual, Greg Stafford-period Pendragon beats all comers: however, unless you are an truely devoted fan a lot of the best
material in this book may seem a bit obscure. I happen to know a (little) bit about medival feasts, so i found the section
about the subject fascinating: in fact, it was my main reason for buying the book: but other role-players would propably rather
focus on action-adventure. Nothing wrong with that: the last adventure of the book should provide all the fights anyone would
want- but again, i have heard many people have been confused by the surreal elements in the setting- actually what i liked
best about it. (The hints of some mysterious mythological system are enough for a whole campaign). There is one adventure,
however, that i found painfully clumsy, not to mention (unintentionally, but still)chauvinistic: namely the "tournament of
dreams", wich reminded me of a slightly more mature (with the stress on slightly) standard fantasy adventure, wich is quite
dissapointing by Pendragon standards.
However, all in all, this is a great help for the truely devoted.

This is a good recap of the dream season the Terps went through. The pictures are clear and the articles are pretty interesting..
but the best part is page 120 where front and center with red-painted face and mouth wide open is.... ME! I'm famous now.
You should buy this so I can get some royalty checks or something.

I loved this book. Through pictures and words the book conveys the sport, and the grit and guts of the players who play the
game with honor and respect. While the words convey the sport as a dual between opponents the fact that the "guys" have the
highest principles and a mindset that make them all round winners comes through with each and ever player. A thoroughly enjoyable
book.
A wonderful gift for any lover of the sport.

Incredible book on the day in the life of a PGA touring pro. Davis Love III happens to be my favorite as well and I live
in LA and this covers a week at the Nissan/LA Open back in 1992. Great book on the mental aspects of the game and what a
pro goes through. Also has some interesting insights to the PGA pro community (caddies, practice habits, etc.)

Most everyone acquainted with Shelby Foote know him through his Civil War history and the Ken Burns Civil War series. He
is, however, a Southern novelist of the first calibre, and his raw talents are spectacularly displayed in this his first published
work. Most writers could strive for a lifetime and never come close to the quality of this book. I highly recomend it to
anyone who is interested in Foote as a writer or in Southern literature as a genre.

Declined I've ever seen!
It surely deserves five stars, at least for the Author's enthusiasm
in sharing all his knowledge about this important opening system.
Previous works (by Pachman, Nejstadt etc.) are important as well as
later ones (by Marovic, Sadler, etc.), but Polugaevsky's prose is
especially flavoured and inspired.
He investigates every variation deeply and provides some beautiful
games at the end of the book.
The theory here provided has been somehow surpassed in the twenty
years from the time the book was written (1985, revision of 1988),
but Polugaevsky's explanations are still first quality.
There are just a few typos but I suspect that two translations from
the Russian original (first to German and then to English)
somewhat impaired this masterpiece.
I found just an analytical error at page 255 in the Author's comments
on the beautiful win by Geller over Psakhis in Erevan 1985: in his
notes to the game Polu states that after 21.Kxd1 Bf3+ Black wins a
piece but in fact the simple move 21.Qxd1 is winning for White.
Probably Polugaevsky leaves out that Black should play and win
with 19...Bc4 instead of 19...Qxh1+
I definitely recommend this (GREAT) book!
