Open Books

Although the subject matter is a little dated, the book provides a fascinating insight into the mounting of a very novel mental defense. The reader can see how a criminal defense attorney investigates the facts, researchs novel legal theories, and formulates a cohesive legal strategy in an "open and shut case" for the prosecution. This book rates up there with Vince Bugliosi's crime books.

I bought this book not to long ago, and loved it. I highly recommend this book to all poetry lovers, it something in it for everyone. This book is a mush by, love, life, spiritual, for a women, life's ups, and downs, dealing with love of a lost one. It's all in here this book is great check it out.

As director of a Protestant(UCC)Church School, I purchased this bible for our library. I thought the bright cover would appeal to our children. I found myself reaching for it week after week while preparing church school lessons. The New Living Translation is easy to read and understand, and the pictures and biographies of Bible characters bring additional interest and depth to the stories. I came back and ordered enough for the whole third grade!

The Nelson Open Bible has so many study aids such as word studies, a concordance and doctrinal studies that it would benefit virtually any Christian who sincerely wishes to grow in their Christian walk and become more familiar with the Word of God. A "must-have" for every dedicated Believer!

Within just a few days, I received another Bible, but it turned out to be the same. When I called one of your reps, I could not have been treated more kindly and helpfully. The Open Bible, KJV, with a genuine leather binding is almost unavailable no matter where I have looked. I was happy with the respect I was afforded. I am only sorry that it seems this item will no longer be available. I appreciate your trying for me.

If you want to know why your legislators consistently vote in favor of illegal immigration into the U.S., this little 82-page soft-cover is a good place to begin.

Lobbied and funded by the Ford Foundation and George Soros' Open Society, and badgered by racist groups like National Council of La Raza, a society of Hispanic supremacists, congressmen and senators seem to listen less and less to the voice of the people who elected them--and more frequently heed those with money.

Given the lack of resources to cover mandated services for citizens--it's enough to turn your face bright red, which just happens to be the color of this book's cover.

This is one of the very best books ever written about West Papua!

The author was the leader of a British-Indonesian zoologist expedition into the remote highlands of the Lorentz Nature Reseve. The entire team was kidnapped by OPM guerillas fighting for West Papuan independence, and held hostage for several months until being freed by the Indonesian army - minus the two Indonesian male members of the expedition who were executed by the OPM.
This could easily have been turned into a shallow account of hardship and horror, but instead the author has used the experience to give us probably the most interesting and insightful account of West Papua ever. Rather than just concentrating on how the hostages themselves felt during their ordeal, he is painting a thorough picture of the background to the kidnapping, and excellent descriptions of the Papuans' psyche and motivations. His observations are sharp and balanced, and instead of pointing fingers at any party, he leaves us with an understanding of the tragic circumtances that lead to the kidnap, and the hopeless situation that continues in Papua to this day.
We also get to "experience" the down-to-earth lifestyle that was a horrible ordeal to the hostages, but is in fact the everyday reality of life in the extremely isolated Papuan highlands.

Having spent months in West Papua myself, I also found the book entirely free of factual errors, hype and exaggrations that abound in other travelogues of this "exotic" place.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone planning a longer trek through the mountains of Papua.
Don't let it put you off visiting - there has been no similar incident ever since. Read it for its description of life in this singular, remote part of the World.

This is a great little book on the work of Peter Brook. There isn't much out there about the set design or environments of Peter Brook's work. My only quibble is that I wish the book were in a larger format--it's small. But, it is great never the less, with background on just how things came together.
