Philosophy Major and Harley Rider Loves this Book

I was an undergraduate philosophy major with all of the earnestness and seriousness that implies. Years later, after getting
my MBA, starting and running a successful business, and buying a Harley to ride, I came on this book. It reminded me of all
of those seminal college conversations late into the night with girls I was trying to score with and to impress.(Usually the
girls were not impressed!)
This book is fun because it does not take itself too seriously and is written by philosophers-riders who can relate the topic of philosophy to a motorcycle, especially a Harley. The book is funny, irreverent, and a little Monty Python-like. It helped me to remember all of those philosophical issues I had thought I'd forgotten over the years -- e.g., what is the best way to live one's life? -- and it started me thinking about philosophy while riding my Harley.

Never Mind the Bollocks, This is Philosophy.

Never mind the PoMo bollocks - here's the real deal. Be astonished as Dr. Harman analyzes and interprets Heidegger without
obfuscation! Veteran philosophers, Heideggerians, Continentalists, Anglophiles, along with novices and newbies alike will
find a very worthwhile read that takes Heidegger as a pointer in a direction which brings philosophy out of the various intellectual
ghettos and back to life. In language at once pithy, moving, and substantive, Harman delivers a reading of Heidegger which
neither forgives his sins nor ignores his great contribution to philosophy - bringing sublime, careful thoughtfulness to the
terrible beauty of reality.
Of all the books which attempt an introductory overview of Heidegger, this is the only one I've read that goes as far in humanizing the man with new details of his personal mistakes and challenges, while also doing a superior job explaining all his key concepts in succinct, pithy, well-written English statements. The concepts are unfolded chronologically along with the basic narrative of Heidegger's career.
One other thing that should be added: Harman brings a different perspective to Heidegger which is neither that of the fawning Heideggerian imitator, nor that of the belittling, condescending critic. He is an admirer of Heidegger's originality with a unique and particularly compelling view of how Heidegger should be understood as an important point of departure for philosophy.

HEIDEGGER EXPLAINED: FROM PHENOMENON TO THING is a philosophy coverage recommended for both high school and college-level
collections strong in introductory philosophy. By understanding Heidegger some of the foundation theories of the 20th century
are more accessible - and equally accessible is an introduction which offers up a lively survey of all of Heidegger's works,
avoiding confusing terminology to provide a more inviting coverage of his key works and concepts. An outstanding reference
for any introductory philosophy section.

I was delighted to find this little book...packed with wisdoms based on the life experiences of the author and valuable for
anyone seeking spiritual growth as well as support in recovery. Easy to read, I get out my highlighter for those phrases that
hit home with me. I will buy and send this book to those people in my life who are "awakening" to living the best life for
them. It follows the "new", but not really new, philosophy of The Law of Attraction and the inherent basics of spirituality.
A true treasure!

I have been homeschooling for more 13 years. The library is my primary source of educational materials. In fact, according
to the National Center for Education, this is true for 78% of homeschooling families.
Ms. Furness' book, Helping Homeschoolers in the Library, should be on every public library's resource shelf.
The book is broken into two parts. First: Defining Homeschoolers. This section explores the history of homeschooling, trends, and demographics. Ms. Furness interviews several homeschool leaders, including myself.
Part Two is: Serving Homeschoolers. Here you'll learn how to connect with homeschoolers, create programs with their special needs in mind, and how to help them use the library more efficiently.
This book will help you and your library better serve a fast growing group of patrons. I highly recommend it.

in your study. It lets the word of God explain itself and doesn't give some editors opinion.

I have owned my New Open Study Bible since 1994. I have split the spine on my Bible from overuse so I had to order another.
The topical index in the front is superb and covers more topics than you will ever need to teach or study the Bible. The
background articles on the customs and manners of Bible times dispersed throughout this work give all the background necessary
to teach an in-depth bible study on that topic. The charts of measures, currency, customs, feasts, kingdoms, and time are
excellent. The Visual Survey of the Bible Chart in the center of the Bible is a fabulous overview of the key concepts and
principles taught in the O.T. and N.T. It is worth the price of this Bible. It fabulously shows how all of the books of
the Bible fit together and the main topics presented in each book. The book introductions found at the beginning of each
book are meaty enough for a scholar but explained simply enough for a layperson. I wish that every member of my church
would invest in this wonderful study Bible. I would never want to be without it.

Have you ever dreamed of opening your own business? Felt the need fulfill your inner-entrepreneurial spirit? Or just always
wanted to try something different?
Does your vision include mops, garbage, and detergent?
Probably not. Author Beth Morrow readily admits that operating a cleaning service isn't exactly glamorous, but, if done right, it can be a lucrative career. Her book, How to Open and Operate a Financially Successful Cleaning Service, guides you step-by-step from advertising to recruitment to uniforms and much more.
Perhaps what is most impressive about Morrow is her honesty. She doesn't promise fast and easy riches, and she discusses the pitfalls associated with the industry. Equally impressive is her clear and concise writing and her in-depth coverage on all the aspects of the business. She answers important questions such as, how do you know what type of cleaning business you should open, what kind of equipment should you buy when you first start out, what legal steps do you have to take, etc. She also includes viewpoints from those who have succeeded in the business. Her appendices are replete with essential forms for running a competent business.

The author captures the heart of every budding entrepreneur by anticipating and then answering every possible question one
could conceive about starting a business, which she then takes to the next level by including resources and sample documents.
This is an all-inclusive manual that will answer every question from start to finish. The book requires the reader to ponder questions that determine not only if they are suited to having their own business, but what kind of service and to what extent. The material in this book is geared toward a cleaning service; however, there is so much more that is offered that could be easily applicable to any business.
This book has a 5 star rating without question. The material has been well researched and documented and is in easy to read and understand format. The author has not left one stone unturned. You will definitely walk away from this read knowing exactly who you are, what you want to accomplish and how to go about getting started.

Well balanced presentation of the arguments generated by the man and his work. Most critiques were appropriately about Gardner's
theory and not personal attacks. Most. Unfortunately, Gardner has been long reviled/credited with statements and applications
of his theory that he did not make. It was heartening to see that he has been presented a forum in which to clarify some of
these issues. Academic territory is jealously guarded with a seeming scarcity mentality. There should always be room for new
ideas, and healthy discussion clarifies and hones the theory. Considering the nature of some of the challenges to which he
responded, I thought the man remained open, honest, and considered in his responses.
Much criticism - here refuted.

little opposition to the paradigm of IQ: his works changed how intelligence was perceived and measured, and generated much
criticism - here refuted.
