A worthy product for a fantastic country.

New Zealand is going through something of a renaissance of tourism following the Lord of the Rings films and the programmes of Billy Connolly. Of course, New Zealand is perfectly located on that part of the earth's surface to give it tropical, sub-tropical and non-tropical locations. That, in itself, makes the country extremely interesting in terms of flora and fauna - both above and below the surface of the sea.

I like the fact that the Contents page is headed "Map of New Zealand - page 6." What better place to start. The remainder of that page reads; The Farthest Paradise, the Land, Outlying Islands, the People, History, Relics of History and, finally, the Political and Economic Systems. And they are all there, Described in an easy-to-read and flowing style which makes you want to call your travel operator and head for this wonderful country.

Well supported throughout with a carefully chosen and relevant selection of photographs from yesterday and today, this is a book which will explain New Zealand - as it should be explained, to anyone who wants to know.

I've been planning a trip to New Zealand and have wanted to see more photos to help prioritize which areas I most want to visit. After getting this book, it is abundandantly clear just how beautiful a country New Zealand really is. The photography is just gorgeous and the variety of natural splendor that is the country's trademark is on full display here. From the city of Auckland to the most remote countryside, all are well represented and shown in all their beauty. Whether you're planning a trip or just want to look at stunning photographs, this book is well worth buying.

North Island on one side, South Island on the other, this map is in scale 1:1,000,000. Elevations are color coded and roads are clearly indicated as highway, major road or expressway. I haven't used it yet as our trip will be later this year. However, I have inspected it and it appears to have everything that I consider important in a map.

This book is full of wonderful and beautiful pictures. The book captures the true beauty that NZ has to offer on all the islands. I like how the book is divided into subjects like forests, mountains and lakes, farmlands and coasts. Fabulous book to see things as they really are and to appreciate the beauty the country has to offer.

This book covers every aspect of travel in New Zealand. Especially helpful for the first time traveler are the maps of the north and south islands at the beginning of the book which list the pages where information on the major tourist attractions can be found. Even if you're not headed down under except via easy chair, you can pick up Aussie slang here, and amusing yarns as well. As the Vietnam War winds down, a Yank ("Tin Tank Hank") heads for the Australian outback where he finds a different sort of life altogether. A combination "fish out of water" and "finding self" story, there's plenty here to keep you traveling along with Hank (reading with map of Australia handy enhances the trip) as he discovers, among other things, how to keep one's head in a "shout," the different degrees of bastardy and the dangers of marrying a crop duster's ex.
