College and University Books

This is a great book. The author, Franklin, gives Cooper what is his due. Though Cooper has been underestimated - partly because of the fact that his "apprentice novels" are well known and his masterpieces are not - it is my hope that this book will be widely read and acknowledged as an authentic authority on the excellent authorship of Cooper.

Having worked with Volume 1 I already was familiar with the outline of this book. I am a beginners student of Japanese at Tel Aviv University. We study one chapter a week in the book which is quite a moderate tempo but that is about as much as I feel comfortable to grasp per week. The book is divided into exercises based on the grammar in the chapter and it is explained in comprehensible English. There are reading exercises and each chapter also has a kanji section that covers about 10 new kanjis for writing. I have not bought the audio tapes coming with the books yet but have been highly recommended since they are an excellent complement and ensure proper pronounciation and a comfortable method to review the material covered in the chapter.

I've been consistently impressed by the top clairvoyants in that they stand for a self-responsibility the 1-800 astrologers would never cater to. While her mantra is "we're here to do God's will", her practical message is quite the opposite; that your destiny lies in your hands and can never be subjugated to another.

I'm glad her prophecies for our time have not come to pass; and hopefully they won't. Nostrodamus had similar expectations for a world war in 1999; perhaps Mankind has changed course to save us all; with any luck, it is not just a postponement.

Regardless, this is a great book for the intelligent and will whip into shape those who just want to drift through life and let the stars decide.

This book brings back many memories as Jim Walden built a program that had been the joke of almost all collegiate football and made it into what would eventually become a frequent Bowl participant and a conference championship contender. Walden was the third coach hired in the last three year, he made a promise to stay with the downtrodden program and even though he was not there when WSU made it's improbable apearance in the '97 Rose Bowl, He clearly planted to seeds that started the turnaround. Very similar to the Cindarella story of the Mariners.

At the outset let me say that I am a nephew of one of the remarkable women of this book, Ruth Harris. And honestly, were that not the case I probably would have had no motivation to read this book. But if I had not read this wonderful book, I would have missed the telling of these captivating, interconnected stories that demonstrate how human history is created and changed for the betterment of all - people who develop and follow their convictions with faith and courage, and hard effort. This is a "peoples" history showing us all that we can affect change to right the wrongs of culture and institutions. With love and compassion borne of family, friends, education, introspection and above all, Spirit, these women changed our world - and are still at work in this effort. Motivated to live their lives to end suffering as they found and experienced it, we have benefited from their loving and compassionate works. I thank them for this, as you will after you read this inspired and inspirational book.

I love this book!! Normally, I'm against KU, but I could not put it down! all the info, the great shots, and the author is very ineresting. I can't believe it is so low on the ratings

AGAIN A WONDERFULL BOOK BY KAPLAN A MUST TO BUY !!! SEZALLO

Kaplan's guide will answer most of your questions regarding the whole process of studying abroad. It is full of information that you may not even know you will need, like what to do on the plane, what not to pack, and what to look for in a school. Especially helpful is the chapter on adjusting to life in the US and the various checklists, so you don't overlook any vital details.

For the person who have no idea what colleges they go to, and what to look for in colleges. The book guides you through with a self-assessment survey in the beginning that allows you to prioritize between preferences you may have for colleges.

The most useful part of the book, however, is the catagorized colleges. Unlike other books that list colleges by state or alphabetic order, this book lists the "brain" colleges, the liberal arts colleges, the "specialized" colleges. This allows me to find colleges that are similar to the ones they are interested in.

Also gives significant insights into the colleges with long and informative commentaries on each of the profiled colleges.

Also includes a section on the admissions process itself.

The only shortcoming is the fact that not too many colleges are included, but the ones that are are amazingly done.

I spent an entire junior year trying to choose colleges. This book did the job in a few hours.

I wish I had a book like this when I was trying to select a college 20 years ago. I work at a high school and advise students on college selection. So many of them have no idea how to pick a college. They often end up picking colleges based on hearsay or rumor. College guides allow students to conduct objective research on a large number of schools. Kaplan also has a college guide for African American students that is also a great resource. It is called "The DayStar Guide to Colleges for African American Students". I highly recommend both books!
