College and University Books

We are in the process of looking at colleges for our son. A friend recommended this book and I am so glad she did. The amount of information on thousands of colleges and universities is unbelievable. The CD that comes with the book really helps to narrow done your choices. On the CD you can enter different search catagories like: major, location, size of student body, cost, etc. The program then produces a list to fit your criteria.

a very useful book, unless I think it is. They offer you a huge amount of exercises if you are the type of person who like to do a lot to get familiar with SAT. But if you just want to get some ideas, tricks, this wont' be an idea study guide for you.

We purchased the '07 edition of this book last winter and my husband, daughter and I have used it several times a week ever since. The new edition ('08) is just as thorough with the expected updates. It is sensibly organized and contains pertinent factual information we need for preliminary research. We particularly like the quickly accessible stats listed in the margin. Friends have looked at our book and find it more useful than the others they have purchased.

This, easy, simple, and practical book helps you to remember little details to live ... at the end we have to remember that details are what makes the difference in life... and this books guides you to make that difference.

This book does a great job of chronicling Georgia's "50 greatest plays" -- and while I'm sure some hard core fans will argue over the plays included in this book, I think that's the point. Any "greatest" list is bound to stir up some discussion, and for people who are true Georgia fans, discussing Herschel, Scott, Trippi and others is always time well spent. I read every book on Georgia football that I can get my hands on -- and "50 Greatest Plays" is just one of several out right now that are very good. I am a big fan of Mark Richt -- which makes this a good read: Top Dawg: Mark Richt and the Revival of Georgia Football -- but if you want to learn the history of the Bulldogs in a fun and entertaining format, I found this new title to be one of the best there is: UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA FOOTBALL: An Interactive Guide to the World of Sports (Sports by the Numbers)

I thought the book was very informative and useful. It was helpful because of how it was organized. For each year in high school there was a list of things to do. I would really recommend this book to anyone planning on going to college!! Enjoy!

In Absolutely Worthy, readers are told to wait on God and to put everything in HIS hands. Stephanie Perry Moore reinforces important lessons, such as that we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us and to have faith in God no matter what may come our way.

This is a book that actually engages social theory in a very rigorous way while trying to explain general trends within American higher education. It is very, very good, starting with the fact that it avoids platitudes and simplified comments that one would find in short editorials.

There are a number of good books on the market for deans and other folks in college leadership roles. This one is different. It's aimed at new or prospective deans, for instance. The authors have drawn on their own experience and on what they have learned from MANY others in the business and have addressed all of the basic questions you ought to ask if you are thinking of being a dean (Why would I do this? Am I ready? How do I get in the game?). They have also given an honest apprisal of where the booby traps lie, and how to avoid them. They go through planning, budgets, personnel issues, relationships with other administrators, and legal matters. They even talk about how to tell when it's time to move on. This is practical, nuts and bolts stuff. If you're already a dean (or were one, or know one well), the book will give you some new perspectives on familiar ground. I wish I'd had it when I jumped into the game. I have recommended it to everyone I know.
