I thought this book was very informative and especially liked the second half of the book dealing with wagering and how to formulate exotic tickets.

Of course, I wrote the book.

The secrets of successful betting, playing percentage, long and sure shots, rating methods, tips and touts, daily double tip off, 36 tested betting system and more. A compilation of 36 new systems, all tried and tested, for the horse players.

I haven't finished this book but I already found a key piece of information I wasn't aware of and it is very helpful. This advise has sense showed up in another book which is good.

As someone who doesn't count horse racing or indeed gambling as a main interest,it was at a time of year when having a had a couple of sucessful bets I looked to see if there were any books on the subject. I flicked through a few pages and found his racing systems fascinating especially as he described how it was possible to reduce the number of potential winning horses in most top class races, down to just a few with a bit of research and sometimes just common sense. I am constantly picking up and putting down the book even 2 years after buying it. It took the author an awful lot of time and research to come up with the contents of this book but there are so many useful bits of information that I am just waiting to see if he writes an up to date version.

Shows the experienced race-goer a new type of long-priced, real best bets that have won with astonishing consistency in different months and in different years. Text includes reference rules, glossary, and examples of how to calculate and make a winning bet. 183 pages plus list of major tracks. Sequel to "Payday at the Races." The necessary requirements for each of three of the most powerful types of selection are presented in a nutshell so that each can be recognized almost at a glance. No stone was left unturned in making sure that the "power plays" would win reasonably often under all conditions. Tests were taken at all major tracks but it was demonstrated that these methods also would work well at small or "minor" tracks, which hitherto have been the bugaboo of most amateur handicappers. If these methods continue to produce such astounding results, the reader should have little hesitancy in conducting his operations with the utmost confidence.

This book is a must read for anyone heading to the
track. I have been a regular reader of Dean's columns
at Horseplayer Magazine and TVG's online newsletter
for almost five years. He shows you how to tackle
time and money management, both of which are seldom
dealt with in other racing books. Everyone can pick a
couple winners each day, but hardly anyone wins money
on that alone. This books helps you do the preparation
for the day's events and how to do smart decision
making right up to the start of each race. Daily and
annual money management are also covered--again,
realities of betting most authors don't deal with. The
tools tactics and philosophy shared makes this book a
definate for those that want a fresh perspective on
betting!

Barbara George and her husband Robert were the stalwart publishers of VeloNews, a publication focusing on velodrome racing, some years ago. This book offers a complete view of bicycle track racing in the 70s geared toward young riders. Photos by Robert are excellent and document that era most effectively. The George's offered models for those who followed (i.e. "No Brakes!"). A must for the bicycling history collection.

I bought it because my husband collects windup toys and this book comes with two! (surprised him with it - something very difficult to do!) Beautifully illustrated and a cute story - a hit for race fans young and old!
