Best running log format I have ever used.

This is the best running log I have ever used. The weekly pages have a useful setup , the variety of charts for recording race and training info. is comprhensive, and the training and stretching information is excellent. The page set up allows you to keep your training information in a useful and organized format. It has a 5 column format with weekly goals, actual weekly milage, and year to date milage totals at the bottom of each column. I use the 5 columns to record my milage and workout information for running, cycling, swimming, cross training, and weight training. Each page allows room for comments, weekly goals, weekly actual milage, and year to date totals. I plan to use this training log next year again and have recomended it to my friends.

To all that has an interest in General, transport or to be more specific tram history of the Western Cape (Province of South Africa), I can really advise in getting this book. It goes back further than trams e.g. Cart drawn transport for both Passenger and Goods until the last trackless tram left Cape Town.

The younger generation does not know Cape Town in this way and the information is very accurate. I would like to see some of the dates be expanded by including the month and day also to be more correct in this way.

Mr. Coates also bring in references to the political situation of the day that influenced tramways and their existence.

There are some hand drawn pictures and a lot of photo's and other illustrations. (Eye candy!!)

I was lucky to obtain a copy of this book at an antique shop. I suggest a reprint in a cheaper format to make the book available again to one and all.

This is a must read - No option...

Ok, this project is very personal to me. I became a man while this music played in the background. It's smooth and sexy. After almost 30 years of making love, this timless album of songs still sets the mood and still sounds fresh. I'm getting older, however Dionne still sounds fabulous on this set as she effortlessly croons in a way that only Dionne can. TRACK OF THE CAT is a hidden gem and one of my all time favorites. Thanks for the music Dionne,it has helped me get lucky more times than I can remember(smile)

What a great book! Even people who aren't really into tigers will be interested in this book. It's hard not to pick it up and flip through all the pictures. Unlike other books I've seen, this portrays the tiger as it really is, a magnificent, majestic, powerful animal, a creature of true design. For tiger lovers and animal lovers alike, this book is one that you should not pass up.

Incredible pictures, diary format limits usefulness a bit.

Hugh Miles describes his two years filming wild river otters on the Scottish coast. The photography which illustrates this book must be seen to be believed, and captures the northern Scottish terrain as well as the otters who are the subject of the book. The text of the book is truly an equal to the pictures in both detail and feel, although the format of the book as a diary of his years there does make for occasional very slow passages, and limits the utility of the book as a reference on otter behavior. All the information on otter behavior an amateur naturalist could need can be found in this book, but not easily. However, the pictures, accuracy, mood and detail of the book more than make up for this, and it is so engaging that an interested reader probably will become completely absorbed in it. After I checked this one out of the library I kept renewing it until the copy I ordered finally arrived in the mail; I couldn't stand to part with it.

Boddington Rules

As an unabashed fan of Craig Boddington, I am unquestionably biased. But this is another tremendous work from today's finest hunting author. I am proud to own one of the limited numbers of this book, and if by the time you read this review the book is no longer available, then I truly feel sorry for you. Following the format of his earlier works, From Mount Kenya to the Cape and Where Lions Roar, each chapter in this volume is a detailed description of a different African hunt. This time the book documents the gradual change in Craig from magazine author to television personality as he relates the difficulties of filming for his many projects including the Tracks Across Africa television program as well as his excellent DVDs, Boddington on Buffalo, Boddington on Leopard (and now Boddington on Buffalo 2). He works in his experience hunting with Marc Watts at Chifuti Safaris, whose "Fire and Ice" DVD features a sequence with Craig. What I particularly enjoyed about this book was learning more about Craig's personal life, including sequences dealing with his relationship with his teenage daughter, his divorce and subsequent relationship with Donna Grey, career issues with the Marine Corps, and complications in his hunting career imposed by the television program, sponsors, etc. But the main focus of the book remains hunting and Craig's safaris over the past 10 years, and once again it is both entertaining and informative. I don't know how much longer he can continue this tremendous pace he's on, but I hope it never ends.

This extensive text on animal tracking is and excellent resource on different track identification and animal behavior, from birds to reptiles. What I found particularly of interest to me was the chapters on fossil tracks, reproducing tracks and Indian tracking. Definitely a good book for the tracker weather you are an expert or beginner.

Scriptorium Book Description
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2007-04-12
On April 13, 1945 a young man must say farewell to his parents and sister in Neumarkt, his West Bohemian home town. Not yet eighteen years old, he has been called to arms, and the barely four weeks he must spend with the Wehrmacht until the war's end carry a heavy price afterwards: nearly four years of captivity of almost unspeakable horror.

Ernst Korn's autobiographical reminiscences are written in an objective and precise style, the result of painstaking recollection and conscientious research, and he has good reason to divide them into sections patterned after the nine circles of hell of Dante's "Inferno". This book is a document humain which in its personal authenticity bears witness to the fate of the eleven million German prisoners-of-war, especially those in the countries of Eastern Europe.

Swept along by disintegrating troop formations, young Ernst Korn - unarmed and making his way home after the German surrender in mid-May 1945 - witnesses indescribable atrocities committed by Czech "revolutionaries", only to be arrested in Melnik along with thousands of other Germans. He is imprisoned by the Soviets and then sent for a seemingly endless time into Polish captivity. His description of the forced march of haggard German "plenni" through depopulated Lower Silesia in autumn of 1945 is haunting. Anyone who collapses is mercilessly shot, and of the 6,000 men departing from east of the River Neisse early in the morning, some 400 to 600 do not make it to Lauban late that night. Lodz, Siedlec, Lentschütz, Babie Doly, Elbing and Warsaw are further stations along their way. Aside from abuse and degradation, tormenting hunger remains their constant companion to the bitter end.

Ernst Korn is permitted to cross the new German border at Forst in February 1949, but while he is "released", there is no homecoming for him. He meets up with his father in the Allgäu, but his mother rests in now-foreign soil at home in the Egerland...

Even the many horrors he suffered do not provoke the author to words of hatred. But half a century later he wants to tell, with unrelenting truthfulness, what happened - so that these facts of German history do not fall into oblivion for the younger generations.

The first-person narrator of this deeply moving account stands as biographical essence for the many young people on whom the course of history forced exactly the same fate.
