I have a passion for running, but have been unable to run for any great amount of time due to extremely painful shin splints. I have been seen by doctors who have provided me with little hope or guidance to ease the pain. I want to continue running and increasing my running ability despite my shin splints. After reading Paula Coates' book, I have gained greater insight and hope to completing a run/race/marathon without pain. I found this book to be an easy read and easy to implement in my own busy life. Although I have just begun to train again, I can already see results in my training and a significant decrease in pain/discomfort. I am excited to see the results with a little more time. I would recommend this to any runner at any level.

This book offers comprehensive running information but on the other hand, it offers nothing new. Most runners who've read tons of books already know all the stuff presented in this book. It's a collection of training advice from different experts on the subject.

However, this is book is a very good totality and I personally like the writing style in this book than the writing style of Noakes in the Lore of Running.

Expirienced runners don't necessarily need this book but if you are looking for a "all-in-one" book, this might be your choice.

I waited for nearly 10 months before Amazon got this book in stock. It was definitely worth the wait! It contains sheet music for all of the songs from Sakura Taisen 1 except Hanasaku Otome (which is, for some reason, only in the Sakura Taisen 2 sheet music book) and Ai Yueni. A friend of mine, who is far superior in piano skill than I, played some of the music for me. It sounds soooooo good... the arrangements are excellent. The only problem with the book is that it doesn't include the lyrics for the songs that have them, but you can find the lyrics on the Web.

This book was invaluable during our recent inspection of the property we purchased in Alaska. This format is easy to understand and it was easy to identify and differnetiate between the different species of animals inhabiting our land quickly just from scat and tracks. A must have for anyone wanting to live outside the city in Alaska.

Reading other books on the subject, I'm often left with the feeling that the author is a regular patron at the track and knows his horses. However, I don't usually get the feeling that their system is anything more than a series of hunches. Cohen and his co-author look at things from a different angle. While their book came out in the 60's as I recall, many of their ideas show up on today's websites and in handicapping texts from the 90's. Such concepts as a statistical system to compare performances from various tracks are widely used in today's handicapping systems. There may be easier, less time-consuming ways to evaluate the races, but I've yet to find one that gives the user such a feeling of involvement. By making a few calculations and looking for common patterns the reader becomes much more involved in the selections than just spitting numbers into software and having the "winner" be generated. I've used their system for recreational handicapping for 7 years or so, and I rarely lose. I may not go home having doubled my money, but I usually show a profit, and have a lot of fun doing it!

Psillos defends scientific realism along naturalistic lines against many positivist and post-positivist empiricist challenges, e.g as articulated by Duhem, Carnap, Laudan, Worrall, van Fraassen, and Fine. His command of empiricist philosophy is impressive (at least to me) and renders this book an excellent introduction to the current debate. Constructivism, however, is not treated here. The arguments are detailed and plausible and can be reconstructed by philosophically oriented scientists. The focus is on the physical sciences, and I wonder whether Psillos' conception of natural kinds would be all that successful in biological, historical, or social sciences. Nevertheless, the amount of synthesis of arguments in this book makes it a very valuable resource.

I love Scooby and this album. Having all the theme songs is great and I have gotten adicted to "Pretty Mary Sunshine". Keep rocking Scooby-Doo!

This very un-PC book is an account of a 1920-21 circumnavigation of the world in a 99-foot power-yacht (state-of-art for the time) by a wealthy Chicago cement-magnate and his wife and crew.

Different cultures are encountered, bad weather, risky close-calls, hard conditions and ofcourse, exotic, faraway locales (many decades before Club Med and Hotel Chains spread worldwide)----All aptly and vividly described by Australian writer Dale Collins, who was onboard for the majority of the voyage.
The book is a window into another era. The reader can't help appreciate the changes that have swept the world since, some good, some bad.
This book comes from a time when there were still parts of the world that were relatively unexplored and mysterious.

If you like Sea-Tales, epsecially true ones, this is a volume
you shouldn't miss.

Yes, It's a very good book. If you're starting your own research, it's for you.

This book shines the light on one of the worst stateside military disasters. (And, I'll bet you never heard of it.)
