Being an avid reader of dog books, and a Whippet fancier, I was excited to hear that this book was coming out. I bought it
at the first opportunity! It is of special interest to those who are in the UK or who wish to use UK bloodlines in other parts
of the world. However, there are excellent chapters on the breed in other lands. Also, the care information is practical and
useful to new puppy owners and more experienced owners alike. The book is full of gorgeous photos and is written in an enjoyable
to read style.

Bo Bengtson presents the Whippet lovers with thorough research of the breed, its history and leading blood lines. The book
reveals the state of the breed throughout the world in the last century and helps the studious receive a good idea about Whippets
and their genealogy, enlightening! A wonderful companion for Whippet owners and breeders who want to get the whole picture
of the show Whippet. The book lacks enough info on racing and coursing aspects but that can be a huge book by itself...

This book was chose to be on the prestigious 'DogRead' as a book selection of the month. We only do 12 books a year and this
was April 2001. The author comes on line for the whole month to answer questions on the book. It was very well received
by our 3000 member email group. The author was very knowledgeable and easy to understand even though also very in depth.

This is a great book for anyone interested in bird dogs, especially Brittanys. Most of Mr. Williams books that I have read
have been instructional whereas this book is a more personal story about his favorite dog Winston and his performance in the
field. It is right up there with "The Rufus Chronicle". I just recently got a Brittany from the American Brittany Rescue
and have not hunted him and actually haven't been hunting since I was a little girl with my dad. However, after reading Mr.
William's book I have had the urge to get out there and try with my very first dog. This is a must read for Brittany lovers!

A Must Read for Anyone Interested in Breeding Dogs

This book is fascinating. Anyone even considering breeding dogs in general and the German Shepherd Dog in particular should
read this and keep it for reference. The authors prove wrong anyone who says bloodlines are not important when deciding what
to breed to what and explains how it takes careful study and several generations of dogs to determine what traits your foundation
stock is passing on. It also has much on the psychological traits and temperment that most inexperienced or back yard breeders
over look completely in favor of just trying to produce "pretty dogs" or the current fad in conformation or color. I have
already lent this book to a friend so I don't have the original publish date handy but it was originally printed in the early
1900's but it certainly is not dated except in some areas such as feeding and the loss of many puppies to contageous disease
as there were no vaccines then, although this was somrtimes considered a positive as the ones who did not contact the disease
even tho exposed or the ones who recovered were deemed a case of survival of the fittest. I believer this is the best book
I have read on dog breeding by far.

Man's best friend can also be one of man's best workers. "Working Sheep Dogs: A Practical Guide to Breeding, Training, and
Handling" is a comprehensive handbook to raising and training one's sheep dogs to serve their tasks. Covering every aspect
of raising and educating a dog in terms that one doesn't need to be a veterinarian to understand, "Working Sheep Dogs" is
a seminal book on the subject. A deftly composed and highly recommended pick for community library pet and wildlife collections.

This book very clearly explains how to care for a Bichon Frise (b.c.) and its personality. How it handles being around other
animals is another thing this book informed me of. After reading this book i knew is exactly what to look for in a b.c. puppy
and i am proud to say that because of this book i was able to pick out the best b.c. puppy that anyone could've picked. This
book is well worth the money, and i would have glady spent twice as much on it. Anyone who ever reads his book will truely
understand the great qualities of the b.c., and most likely be convinced into getting one.

I love the way you just read the back of the book to find a symtom like limping.
and go to the page it says and follow the chart given to see if your should take your dog to the vet or if it will pass.
But to be on the safe side if you feel you should take your dog to the vet then do so.
