Breeds Books

This book represents everything I truly believe one should and should not do regarding dog training/communication. I haven't found a book like it in all of the research and reading I've done on the topic. Also of great benefit is the fact that they don't heavily recommend feeding kibble (this is just briefly mentioned in the book), which I advocate strongly. This clear-cut, easy format book is enjoyable and extremely educational without faddish training methods or too soft or too hard viewpoints on the treatment of dogs. I highly recommend it to everyone considering or interested in learning about how dogs think!

This book and it's companion (Blind drills) are my favorite retriever training books for the intermediate to advanced retriever. The books include endless drills to improve your dog's performance. With all these different drills, each training session can be unique and such keeps the trainer and the dog from getting bored.

Further, I have read nearly every retriever training book out there, and I think that Mr. Spencer's writing style is bar none the best.

Most retrievers are eager to retrieve but there still can be problems training them to do so properly, even in advanced settings. Retriever Trouble-Shooting: Strategies & Solutions To Retriever Training Problems comes from the authors of highly acclaimed training manual, The 10-Minute Retriever and offers the authors' own experiences and expertise in handling typical problems and coaching owners on retrievals covering many a long distance. Chapters cover line manners, bird handling, force-fetching and more, making Retriever Trouble-Shooting a 'must' for any owner or handler engaged in training a superior retriever dog.

Considered by experts on the Rhodesian Ridgeback as the "Bible of the Breed", this book is a must for all interested in this breed of dog. It includes an interesting dissertation on the origin of the breed, and multiple photographs of many of the early notables in the pedigrees of every dog in the breed today. Originally self-published by the author in 1955, it was reprinted in So. Africa 5 times in hard cover. A new soft-cover edition, enhanced with information about the author, was published in 2006 in the U.S.A.

I found this book to be an excellent resource when I was just beginning in the dog show world almost 10 years ago. The Freemans were able to turn the sometimes baffling "rules" of the show world into plain and understandable english. I learned so much from this book. Everything an aspiring show dog owner needs to including selecting your first show puppy, early show training, pre-show preparations and tips for handling in the ring.

This book starts off in the 1600's in France when two people Andre Ribudoux and Jeane Denote left to go to Canada. They met, married and had a family. That family included several sons and daughters that populated the new world. The book also contains some of the stories of their descendents, such as Joseph Robideau who founded St. Joseph, Misourri, and his son "Indian Joe." Also included are stories of Robideaux/Rabideau/Robideau family members such as the father of 10 who died at work in the 1930's, the a prize fighter, a woman jogging that was killed by a car, a 19 year old woman whos fience was in WWII who died of a heartattach before her wedding and many other interesting stories that will keep you entertained for hours!

this book shares the authors point of view on rottweilers, and also shows the history of the breed. Richard F. Stratton also tells what kind of toys the dog should have the kind of love it should recieve, and also shares some stories about rottweilers, including dog fights.

A great book for anyone who wants to understand more about Rotties but doesn't want to have to look at a dictionary to understand every other word. This book covers their history, their temperment and behaviors, how to care for your Rottie, and how to train your Rottie the simple commands. The training segment is the most informative. It walks you through how to crate train and how to give commands and even provides step by step pictures.

i think you will find this book very informative and useful. for novices and experts alike. it's a book that you'll enjoy reading, more than once.

This is a nice book of postcards for the Rottie lover. The photos are great and expressive and I use these postcards to send notes. If you love Rottweilers, you will enjoy this!
