This is a beautiful book of horse pictures/paintings which can be removed for framing. The portfoilio is 12.5 inches by 15 inches and the pictures in it are smaller. Absolutely beautiful matte pictures. There are 17 prints of watercolrs each showing a different breed.

I love this book! I ran across it at a library sale, and I don't even hunt--although I am obsessed with dogs. The reason I bought it though, honestly, is the unbridled enthusiasm that the author exhibits for the intelligence and talents of dogs. The author writes with character and personality; here's how he describes the beagle: "his good natured disposition enables him to meet with gentle patience the most overenthusiastic treatment doled out by the 'sandbox set.'" Succinct, charming, and spot on. I don't hunt, my dog is a mutt, and I generally enjoy reading history and literature , but sometimes, I just like to curl up in my bed with this old book and a glass of wine. The pictures are beautiful, and the text reminds us that different dog breeds exist for a reason. Dogs need jobs, too. Pretty is pretty but pretty and smart and hard-working is better (take that Westminster!). Now I just wish I could get a herd of sheep for my mutt . . .

I received the book timely and it was what I wanted. Would use this supplier again.

It gives you lots of pet care information

The late Dee J Single, the author of the book, was a well known leader in the CatFancy. She raised many, many Grand Champions in her 30+ years in the business. And there are many more out there who were sired by her silver and golden persians. This book was published in 1993 and she passed away in 1995 from an aggressive form of cancer. This great book details everything you need to know to care for most cats, with great photographs and careful illustrations, it is a great guide for cat owner. There are also special chapters on Short Hair Exotics, which she became fond of in her later years for one simple reason... a lot less cat hair. ;-)

The Proud Breed is my favorite book of all time. You absolutely fall in love with the characters. Highly recommended to all book lovers.

This is a wonderful book. I have read many times over the years. I love to read this book because the author has captured everything so beautifully. The story actually begins with a 16 year old girl and ends when she is an old women so you feel as though the story was complete. Although the author has written two sequals to this family, neither comes close to the powerful story of the beginning of California's history and the strenght of the people who developed our country.

I do not yet own a Pug, and I felt like this was a great book to get to know how to handle a new puppy. I liked that they have pictures ranging from what fleas look like to common eye diseases.
I wouldn't recommend it to people who have short attention spans, it isn't necessarily really "fun" to read, but it is informative and easy to understand. I have read some Pug dog books that are very biased, and this one is more neutral, which I appreciated because you should make your own decisions based on information you recieve about how to raise your dog. I went through it and highlighted parts that I felt would be good to come back to if needed (how dorky am I), since this book is somewhat laid out as a textbook would be.
If you are serious about adopting a Pug, this is a great book to start out your journey!

Any pug fanatic will just have to see and study this important pug tome. As a long time pug fancier, I found it indispensible, fascinating and irrefutably the must have for all pug lovers, and those that love them. Even some of my non-puggy friends agree, this is the stud book to end all stud books. If I could only own one of these glorious creatures I would truly be able to say that I had a pug to end all pugs. Now, I know all us puggers love our pugs for all their defects, but trust me, these pugs have none! You'll be amazed, as was I, that our constant companions, and best furry friends can also be so beautiful!
