This charming little book tells people how to protect themselves from a great deal of emotional pain. And it tells this story in the most enchanting way. I was spellbound from the first page. It is written in a form that is comfortable reading for those aged 7 to 70. In addition, it is beautifully illustrated. I do believe it should be required reading for schoolchildren.

As a docotr of Naturopathic Medicine, I find this book refreshingly simple, with down-to-earth methods and recipes for keeping a dairy herd healthy and productive. I compared my Veterinary Medicine Handbook of recent publication with Newman Turner's old-fashioned wisdom, and much prefer the book from Newman Turner. He has other accompanying books in print: "Fertility Farming" and "Fertility Pastures", and I intend to buy those as well. I guess that says a lot, when the book is so good that you want to buy everything the author writes.

Sparkes who is an experienced and successful breeder of champion English Setters. Down-to-earth interviews and insights, as well as first hand testimony from professional handlers, fill the pages of this excellent read which is especially recommended for anyone involved with the breeding, training and showing of English Setters.

I found the book to be quite helpful with explaining the basics of developing a well designed home. It stays away from technical issues and instead focuses on design aesthetics and making sure your plans fit on your lot, in your neighborhood, and with the way families use space. In some ways, another book - What Not To Build: Do's and Don'ts of Exterior Home Design - delves deeper into exterior design aspects than this book. But this book gives a well rounded overview of making the best use of space and $$ both inside and outside of your home.

Beautiful photography, well written breed descriptions. Even if you are a seasoned horse lover you will enjoy looking at all the wonderful photos! A fabulous coffee table book for when your "horsey friends" are over for a visit.

My son received this book as a gift many years ago when he was about 12 years old. We still keep it around as a reference book. The book is divided into two major sections - (1) Profiles - of individual breeds and (2) Practical Guide - choosing a dog and caring for it. There are over 200 breeds of dogs described in this book and each one is illustrated. For each breed, the author tells the advantages and disadvantages, size, excerise, grooming, feeding, origin and history of the breed, and requirements to show the breed. I only wish we had bought it in hardcover, as we have about worn it out !

This book offers some good information on how to clip Shih Tzus. I have 2 and with this book I found that I can do most of the clipping myself. I still take the dogs to the groomer twice a year.
