A most worthwhile and interesting book

This book tells of the public life of George F. Hoar, who was born in 1826 and was the son of of the daughter of Roger Sherman, signer of the Declaration of Independence. He served 4 terms in the House and was elected to the Senate in January 1877 and served there as Massachusetts Senator till his death on Sept 30, 1904. A large and benevolent statue of him by Daniel Chester French reportedly stands in Worcester. Can someone from Worcester tell us whether it is still there?

German Names for German Dogs presents an excellent resource for breeders and owners of all German breeds. In addition to its alphabetic listings of first names by gender, Ms. Dapper has included very helpful specialized listings such as German vocabulary words relating to dogs, names for anatomical parts of dogs, popular names, etc.

Ms. Dapper also profiles the most popular German breeds of dogs, and gives readers a short lesson on pronunciation of German sounds and words. This book represents a very helpful tool to all those German dog enthusiasts in the world, and is a MUST HAVE for breeders of GSP's, GSD's, GWP's, DD's, DK's, etc.

This book gives the reader a true, visual sense of the German Sheperd breed. Strong, able, confident, protective, intelligent and also playful, this is a must for any German Sheperd owner or admirer. It also showcases the various nuances of the breed, so if you are planning to purchase a German Sheperd, this is will give you a good look into the subtle differences between males and females, colors, and also coat. I do recommend additional research by way of other materials before determining if this breed is right for you. But, believe me, once you have made up your mind to commit, you will have a friend you will never, ever forget.

If you are buying this book as a gift, you should get one for yourself, too!

This review dedicated to my first German Sheperd, "Flink" AKA Max Von Holst-Ronning 1979-1992 - I miss you!

From the photo on the inside front cover to The back inside cover. I doubt that you will find anyting you do not like. This Book is totally up-to-date That is what makes it so great. You are not reading a book that was how they did it in them Good Ole Days. The info and photos are all for todays German Shorthaired Pointer. If it misses anything I for one do not know what that maybe.

We bought the book after getting an 8 month old male puppy at a super adopt-a-thon thought to be "mostly" German Wirehaired Pointer. I feel like the author was observing our dog, describing him to a "T". Because this breed is extremely energetic and intelligent, they can be quite a handful. This book has been very helpful in providing insight about how to handle our new pet by teaching us about this particular breed's characteristics.

Excellent Bengal Reference

In anticipation of adopting my first Bengal this coming winter, I've been fanatic in learning as much as I can about the breed. I followed another Amazon reviewer's reccomendation and ordered this book from Gogees.com (you must stop by that site if only to see the gorgeous bengals of that cattery!). I'm very pleased to say the book did not dissapoint. I actually read it cover to cover which is something I've never done with a reference book. This is truly an outstanding cat breed.

The book is an easy-to-read, enjoyable, and info-packed guide. The color photography is brilliant and depicts a very wide array of Bengal characteristics. I can't say how many nights, when my eyes became too tired to keep reading, that I simply paged through and adored the pictures.

Gene covers the important points of everything from picking your Bengal, recognizing show qualities, determing a Bengals potential adult appearnace while still in kitten stages, health, differences between female and male personalities, differences in behaviour whether altered or unaltered, feeding and training, potential disease descriptions and treatments, vaccine descriptions, breeding, birthing, studding...etc. etc. etc.! I can hardly believe how much info the author packed into this book. It's the everything-you-need/want-to-know guide on the Bengal cat and it's easy to see that it is the result of years of experience and study.

It can be very confusing to pick a Bengal breeder and kitten when you're just starting to realize the wide variations within the breed. This book really clarified my understanding and now I know exactly what I'm looking at when I check out a breeder's site and have a good idea of what I'm looking for, as well as what to ask breeders.

*Highly reccomended in every aspect*

Great Reference Book of All Breeds of Cats

This truly is a GIANT book of cats! I just got this book and love the many color photos and illustrations. It is very informative about the many coat colors and textures and also has sections on Looking After Your Cat, Reproduction, The Five Ages of the Cat, The Elderly Cat, and Natural Healthcare, among others. There is a section devoted to selective breeding and explains dominant and recessive genes. I particularly like the explanations for the origins of specific breeds and the characteristics of those breeds. This book is definitely a must have for every cat breeder and fancier's library.

i am 13 years old and i first got interested in dogs when i was about...10. i wanted a book that i could learn about all the dog breeds, health care, breeding, what to do if your dog gets injured, etc. well, this is exactly what i wanted! it is hard to believe that someone could fit all that information into one book! it has great pictures. i like to just flip through and look at all the photos sometimes! the book is easy to understand. it is also very well made! it has been in my back pack at school so its went through a lot! i mean, it(while in my backpack) has been thrown, kicked, pulled, and about anything else you can(or can't!)imagine. it still looks great! the corners are a bit worn, but nothing major. i would suggest this informative book to any dog lover!
