This is a great book for the breeder or show owner, but also a great referance for the pet owner as well!
The chapters include Chihuahua Origins, Develoment in the US, and pages 27-74 have details on some of the most well know lines in the chis: Bayard, Dartans, Flints, H and J, Hurds, Jo-el, Micanjo, Pittore, Pratt's, Quachitah (Ouachitah or BamBam), Tiny Mite and Will O Wisp to name a few. It tals about how they got started, where they got their dogs and show photos of some of there CH's.
There are also photos and chapters on Chis in Canada, the UK and Australia.
Pages 96 - 160 are color photos, and some of the most well know chi's can be seen in these pages.
The last third of the book has chapters on Owning a chi, buying a chi, puppy care, the making of a show dog, chis and obedience training, breeding (25 pages) and traveling with your chi.
A must have for those that love the chi!

I love this book! It has a really good history section and very nice photos, even one of a fennec fox, a theorized relative
of the chi.
The only section that is missing from this book is a chapter on breeding, but for the pet owner this book has it all. There is even a section at back to put a photo of you dog and record other important info.
The health section is reasonably through, and even shows photos a many common problems along with what to do to treat them. Has a good chart on diseases and what causes them, however does not mention some other problems like hypoglycemia, hrdrocephalus, collapsing trachea, patellar luxation, pyometra and cryptorchidism. However this info is in lots of other chi books and info can readily be found online. A must have for ever chi owner in my opinion!

This is a excellent book to have on hand if you plan to breed.
It has a few articles:
Training your Toy Breed Dog
Nurse Dog
About Abby
Beta-carotine: Boosting Your Dog's Immune System
C-Sections, does your bitch need one
Spunds...the unlikely agility Star!
Page 23-62 are color photos of Champions and Titleholders and the rest of the book (pages 63-388) is a breakdown of names and inclues Top producing sires and dames, and sires and dames of champions.
While the average owner would like to look at the photos and may know a few names if they know much about the show ring or breed history, this book is more for the show-goers and breeders. I think that every breeder should have a copy of this book and also the 2005-2007 edition that comes out in March 2008.

Oh this 2008 calendar is so cute with these tiny adorable chihuahuas, of course I have a weakness for these little dogs and
each month's photograph of a different little dog are just too precious for words. I gave this calendar to my elderly mother
and she enjoys looking at the little dogs so much, they just cheer her up so.

Perfect gift for fellow pet-lover at work. ( Our dogs exchange gifts! ) Pedro - can you guess what kind of pooch he is? -
usually gets "treats", but after seeing this book, I knew this was the perfect present. After reading it myself, and admiring
all the photos, I would consider getting one of the tiny terrors myself. Some of the quotes are soooo right-on!

What a delightful story. Beautifully illustrated and it gives you a warm feeling. It is a true about the story of a dog who
is timid whose owner didn't care for timid dogs. So the dog who's name is Chocolate is given to a famous casting director
who is living at the Four Seasons in Hollywood. The dog becomes a fixture there, the hotel caters to him and he sings on the
hotel piano. It is a must buy and a great gift for a child.
