I've never been disappointed with the books from amazon.com. This book was no exception and in excellent shape.

From acquiring a dog or puppy, to the many types of Cocker Spaniels, to training, grooming and feeding, requisite exercise, common medical problems and diseases, and much more, The Cocker Spaniel Handbook is a solidly accessible primer, illustrated with color photographs on virtually every page. Enthusiastically recommended especially for first-time Cocker Spaniel owners.

I purchased this book when we brought our 8 week old eskie pup home. I knew he was a special, highly intelligent breed, but I didn't have a clue how to care/train him so he could develop to his full potential. I had so many unanswered questions concering our new baby.

This book became my "Eskie Instruction Manual" it has clear answers for every question I could think of and more!

I stongly feel every eskie owner should have a copy!

Very real book that helped me to understand my dog's behaviour and character. I wish I had read this book before I had my Bernese.

Foundational book for everyone who is owned by a Bernese Mountain Dog. It is written in an easy-to-read manner, is fairly comprehensive and is a quicker read than some of the other Berner books available today.

I recommend this reading for anyone seriously interested in acquiring a Bernese Mountain Dog or for those who own BMDs and want to learn more about the breed.

A great resource on cats!

First, the book looks at cats in history. As someone who once had cats as family members, I can get excited when I read that (page 17): "The heyday of the domestic cat was certainly in ancient Egypt, where the pets were not only useful members of society, but for almost 2000 years were deified as well." This section provides a nice context of the historical view of cats.

Second, there is a nice encyclopedia of cats, starting on page 39. My friends were a tabby cat and a calico. This lengthy section puts these into a larger context--from lions and tigers to the domestic cat.

Third, for those who have cats, the section on "Cat Care" is very useful indeed. I would commonly open the book to this section when my cats had any problems. The various ailments are well described and, at least to my experience, very helpful. Over time, I experienced with one cat having diabetes (and having to inject her every day), old age (my tabby cat lasted to 19 years of age), an onset of paralysis, what may have been feline leukemia (but was probably not, since both survived nicely), and so on. The encyclopedic coverage of ailments and how to address these was invaluable.

And there are lots of nice photographs of cats!

All in all, I found this a terrific volume to help me with my cats.

Judith A. Steeh wrote this very fine book way back in 1978 and if you are looking for a really excellent book on cats, their history, many breeds, health, care, and joy of their companionship, if you can find a copy, this is definitely the one to get. I really treasure my copy; she has a lot of very valuable information on cat care I have not seen in other books (for instance, what to do if they start foolisg with electric wires -- apply bitter aloe vera or alum). This is a very comprehensive work jam-packed with beautiful color photos. If you only buy one cat book ever, make this the one!

I purchased this book on the recommendation of the Long Island Greyhound Transfer association. I then adopted a beautiful dog. The book is both precise and accurate as to what to expect of a newly adopted dog. I believe it is must reading for anyone interested in a greyhound.

Very comprehensive and complete book about almost all aspects of greyhounds from ancient history to Ballyregan Bob the British racing champion, from Ch. Treetops Hawk the show champion to Cynthia Branigan the adopter of retired racer. Racing, coursing, AKC (show) greyhounds are all discussed in detail. The best things of all: most chapters are written by experts in their respective fields. For me, the generously loaded pictures including 16 pages of color plates are irresistible.

If you are seriously considering making the Rottweiler your next dog, this book contains information on the how the breed started and Muriel gives you a background on bloodlines of todays breed ring competitors. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in the breed. Learn from books before contacting a breeder so that you know what to expect. The Rottweiler is a BIG responsibility and you owe it to yourself to learn more about this wonderful dog. You won't be disappointed!

Ms. Freeman is a true Rottweiler person and helped develop and contribute to the breed. This book is not only details the development of the Rottweiler, but also gives a great wealth of information for raising, breeding and training the breed. I consider this book a MUST READ for anyone looking for an excellent reference on Rottweilers.

The 2nd part of this classic book for fanziers introduces the reader and especially the readers new to this breed into the Saluki as a pet. By example the writer gives advise in: how to feed, how to raise and train a puppy, how to deal with minor illnesses. And as all this is tried and proven to work with her dogs, it will be valuable advise for everyone with a Saluki moving into their home. Especially nice is the quantity of black and white photos, which show famous champions. The Standart of the Saluki is written and explained in detail. A very good read!

Joan has done an outstanding job with this book. This book is written for the Yorkie lover in mind. Joan's expertise from years of experience is absolutely priceless. This book is written for both the pet lover and the show lover in mind. This book is extremely informative and an absolute must to own!

This book is truly a wonderful book for any one involved with Yorkshire Terriers. It gives plenty of information on its history, so maybe by understanding it, you'll know your Yorkie a little better. Great tips on grooming, show, breeding, obedience, and many other things about your Yorkie. I think this is a wonderful book and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Randy Jackson's writings are brief and touch your soul. Reading these thoughts make me realize the need to slow down and truly live the moments I have in my life. We all rush through our lives trying to get who knows where. I know I have had some of these moments, but I am not anywhere as eloquent as he is. I am so glad I found this book. Hopefully Mr. Jackson will take the time to give us more of his life experiences in another book. Well done, Mr. Jackson, you have brought these moments to life.

and it takes you in as if you are the one experienceing the places the
writer takes you to. I pray God will richly bless Mr. Jackson for letting
us share with him.

This book is a must for anyone who shares their life with a Border Collie or Cattle Dog. The photography is spectacular. You won't be disappointed.
