What a super introduction for young readers to the world of mystery literature!

Nancy Drew has been entertaining readers for generations with stories that illustrate fun, friendship and some powerful deductive reasoning. The Clue Crew series also features settings that will enthrall the targeted age range, and Pony Problems features an adorable Buttons, who escapes from his pen at the petting zoo!

It looks like Nancy and her friends will have to figure out how Buttons keeps getting out, or every flower in River Heights will be gobbled up!

Cute, fun and recommended!

My seven year old loves to read these books. We have tried several other series since she finished the MTH series and she wasn't too fond of any of them. These she loves-just enough of a mystery for her age.

This is a wonderful book about a hard working young man and the Sheltland Pony that he loves. Highlights lessons of patience, hard work, honesty, and love of animals. This book takes place in Scotland. A nice book for children and adults, which is hard to find. I am so pleased Fidler's books are back in print. If you enjoy this read Turk the Border Collie and Flash the Sheepdog by the same author.

The Sheltie series is fun to read. I couldn't put it down. Sheltie is very clever. I wish I could have a pony like Sheltie. The story was not hard to read for me and I'm in second grade. I think all kids should read this book. Boys or girls. This book is only one in a series. I hope they keep making more Sheltie books.

Great beginning chapter book series

Peter Clover brings a girl and her loveable pony to life in this chapter book series. The plot is easy to follow. Each chapter left my 7 year old ready to find out "what's next!" A bit of mystery and pony-antics keep the reader's interest. Although it is not necessary to read them in order, do note that this is part of a series. Activity pages at the end of the book allow readers to review what happened through various questions. Extended ideas give young ones ideas on projects (like a collage of horse pictures from magazines). The reading level is probably first/second grade. Wonderful pictures here and there can take it from a parent read for the pre-schooler to an enjoyable "quick read" for the third or fourth grader. Highly recommended for a children's book. We look forward to each new book in the series!

I found this book in my closet and decided to read this book again. The illustations in this book are cruddy like most of those cruddy book series. It is impossible for a girl that is 5 times as big as the smallest pony breed being able to RIDE him in shows and stuff. Only small toddlers can ride Shetlands. What is up with "Bahh!"? Mr. Clark (I think that is his name) always says that. Emma is a jerk since she calls us country style folks "Stupid" and "Dumb". The plot is really lame.

DON'T BUY THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 6!!!!

This is a great book!

Excellent book for fairly new readers. My 6 year old read it on one go. She loved the characters, especially the main one, Emma. As always horse stories are a favorite among this age range. It is well set out, with just enough pictures for this age. My 7 year old enjoyed the story also, even though it was below her reading level,

Great Moral

My 7 year old daughter enjoyed reading this book to me and was so excited to know that she had figured the mystery out before the end. She also figured out the moral of the story before they had a chance to explain that stealing and lying was not appropriate. This is one of the first Horse stories that she has read and really sank her teeth in it. She was toting the book everywhere she went, which of course made me proud of her. What a morale booster for kids. The story was holsum and refreshing. We look forward to reading the rest of the series.

This is the best chapter book that I have ever read on my own - even better than the Magic Treehouse books! It is about a little girl named Emma who doesn't want to move, but then her parents surprise her with a pony, Sheltie. Sheltie is really sweet and nice but very mischievious. She solves a mystery in the story, with the help of Emma. I read it in one day because the story was so interesting and I liked the characters so much. I can hardly wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

Definitive Shetland Pony Book

Centuries of Shetland pony history are condensed into a very readable little book. The author goes into some detail on the numerous uses the Shetland pony has been put to over the years including the work the pony did on the Islands before it found new employment in coalmines in the 19th century. Profuse illustrations are in black and white throughout but include many fascinating archive photos as well as more recent ones. This book is undoubtedly the most accurate and comprehensive work on the Shetland pony breed available today.
