hands down one of the greatest books ever written about canadian politics. rick mercer's incredible wit and vast political understanding really make it just so laugh-out-loud funny. i love his rants. i'm glad he's continued on with them for his new show 'monday report'. hopefully there will be another book on those as well! these are exciting times, and for rick it's like the playoff season that just won't quit.

The Jerry Seinfeld of Canada!

This book is a reprise of Mr. Mercer's "rants" on "This Hour Has 22 Minutes". For those of you who lack the good fortune to have access to the show, I highly recommend this book. For those of you who are fans of the show, this book should be added to your collection.

"Streeters" is a must-have for anyone with an appreciation of political humour, be it Canadian or otherwise. A mandatory item for anyone seeking to understand the Canadian psyche, this book gets the point across via a unique combination of keen political insight and an extraordinary command of common Canadian prose.

What can say, a truly awesome book. I went to summer camp and met my boyfriend there. So much of this story reminds me of our summer at camp. I would reccomend this book to all teens, it is one that you won't get bored with, there is lots to keep you hooked and everything about it is so true. Real issues that make you think.

Summer romances, we all have them and we all remember our first summer romance. This is a great book for teens, both endearing and insightful. Not only does this book tell the story of a wonderful first summer romance, but it also deals with serious issues that many kids of today face. Amazing book would highly reccomend.

Another fantastic book by Elizabeth, I would reccomend this to anyone with teens at home. This Author really knows what teens go through, she taps into their true emotions and shows both positive and negative ways of dealing with problems. This is a great book especially for young girls falling in love for the first time. Many of us remember our first kiss as well as our first summer romance and that last kiss of that summer. Thanks for another great book. It brought back some great memories.

What can I say about Sweethearts of the prom. Totally wow! Loved it. Reminds me of the boys in high school, always such fools when they got around us girls, sure got our attention though guess that was the idea. This Author sure knows kids, amazing book. Would highly reccomend it.

Another wonderful book for the young people of today. Reading it reminds of me of my son when he had his first crush, boys sure can become clumsy around the opposite sex at that age. Terrific book would highly reccomend it to all young people.

This is a wonderful book for teens, written from the male point of view it brings new light to the typical teen novels. This endearing story of young love, really brings to light the problems young men have coping with their feelings as well a pressure from their peers in school. I applaud Elizabeth for taking the time to write a book from this angle. I wish more Authors did. I would reccomend this book to anyone with a teenage son or daughter.

French-Canadians and New England's Franco-Americans will be delighted with the presentation in this supberb cookbook because the recipes reflect the traditions of the French culture in North America. Pictures are beautiful and a history of each dish is provided.

I really enjoyed this book - it breaks the recipes down according to Quebec regions and is rich in history and the stories behind the recipes. It has everything from Eggs in Maple Syrup (!), various versions of Meat Pie (Tourtiere), various Sugar Pie recipes, and finally, to the famous Jo Louis cream filled cake that started the Jo Louis empire. Every French Canadian person I've ever showed the recipe book to has immediately wanted a copy of it. Highly recommended!

I bought this book last March to recreate some favorite dishes for my French Canadian boyfriend here in Los Angeles. We have made several dishes together, and all were proclaimed a great success (by him, the expert taster!). It is an enjoyable book as well, dividing the culinary landscape into regions with intros etc. that made me more educated about Quebec regional cooking. I highly recommend this book.

This is the best guide to home gardening I have seen, combining ease of use with authoritative information. The brief notes are to the point, the photographs are excellent, information is easy to find, and the full entries are exceptionally well done. A pleasure to read, this work will surely become the standard reference on home gardening.

Despite the books' massively long title, it's actually an easy-to-read, well organized reference guide to plant selection, propagation, care and maintenance, as well listing of hundreds of plants. Like many Taylor's guides, this one is profusely illustrated with lovely photographs of plants that will not only inform, but inspire you to get gardening. Almost 350 pages in length, there's not a lot of filler in here, rather, it's packed with lists, glossaries, appendices that will answer most questions any beginning and most intermediate gardeners might have in regards to perennials, annuals, shrubs, flowering trees and vines. If you want to landscape your garden and not sure of what plants to work with, you may want to start here!

I have many good gardening books but this is the one I refer to constantly and suggest to my friends. Arranged alphabetically, the mini-chapter on each plant contains all the information I need to make decisions on purchasing, choosing a site, planting, growing tips, and propagating. The final section in each chapter suggests companion plants that mix well and like the same conditions. To top it off, this is a beautiful book with excellent photographs of the entire plant in its natural surrounding. GET THIS BOOK.

the book is very well written and the author knows a lot about Telecommunications. It has a lot of schemes and charts which can help learners for better understanding of this issue. i can highly recommend this book.

I was lucky to take Mr. Hioki's courses in telecommunications using his textbook at CCSN, in Las Vegas, NV.. His book was a great source understanding the world of electronics applied in telecommunications. Many of the new emerging technologies such as wireless communications, internet, fiber optics, are covered in great detail. He also has a great chapter dedicated to modems. Mr. Hioki manages to bring light without appearing to blind its readers. He abstains of giving the mathematical formulas, although for those savy with numbers won't be dissapointed. His book is gear to junior college student or those with a background in electronics.

This book is surprisingly funny, full of twists and turns and is so realistic that you can basically close your eyes and see exactly what's happening. There are of course, many sexually disturbing images, but it's still one of my favourite newly discovered Canadian Authors!

Friedman's prose has style, punch, and inventiveness. This book is worth reading just for the story of the poodle ("nature's most perfect food," it was invented in 1872 by Otto Van Plotsberg, apparently). But the bigger issues are where this novel is at -- the characters range from the banal to the grotesque, and the dialogue is brilliant. Fans of the smart and the offbeat will dig this rectangle.

IT WAS VERY WELL WRITTEN AND THE PICTURES ARE FANTASTIC. IT BROUGHT BACK GREAT MEMORIES AS I TOO OWNED A FARM, IN INDIANA. I AM ON MY WAY TO OWNING A RANCH, SOON, I HOPE AND READING THIS BOOK I LAUGHED AT THE ANTICS OF KIDS AND ANIMALS. I DON'T THINK FARMERS, OTHER THEN THE AMISH WOULD KNOW HOW TO DO ANYTHING IN THOSE PICTURES TODAY HAHAHAH. EVERYTHING WAS DONE BY ANIMAL OR BY HAND. THE PICTURES AND WORDING ARE JUST GREAT. I THINK IT IS A WONDERFUL READ ESPECIALLY SOMEONE WHO LIVED AND WORKED BACK THEN ON THEIR FARM

The pictures alone make this book a "must have" for anyone who grew up on a farm. It brings back warm fuzzy memories.

I loved the book, "This Old Farm". The memories it brought back to me are some that I had forgotten for many years. The writers of "This Old Farm" knew exactly what they were talking about. I could smell the odors, see the colors, feel the grass, hear the sputter of the tractors and machines. It brought tears to my eyes as it brought back memories of my life on a farm while I was growing up.

THREE RIVERS: THE YUKON'S GREAT BOREAL WILDERNESS explores a region of vast wilderness previously unknown to the outside world, but is a major environmental hotspot of modern times as it represents one of the last, key pieces of the boreal region. With the Mackenzie Valley pipeline proposal looming to threaten it, the Three Rivers region is in the news and deserving of this coffee-table survey, which packs in color photos and art and writing by major authors to remind of the region's importance.

After visiting the yukon(from Australia)and travelling by road I was interested in learning about more inaccessable areas of the Yukon. The book is first and foremost a photographic journey in the great boreal wilderness area by way of the Snake, Bonnet Plume and Wind rivers. The photographs are spectacular but are accompanied by well written text and great descriptive writing by a number of different writers who made the trip. It also is informative where relevent of the history of the area and has just the right balance. The book is a focus on the need to conserve the area, and it successfully does this by "taking you there" and helping you see and feel it for yourself. It does not focus on an anti development theme as such but achieves the environmental focus in a positive and stunning manner.The book is a delight to look at and read and is well set out and captioned. The gwich'in inhabitants of the area and their lives are well integrated into the story and adds to make this a book worth having and revisiting. I can appreciate the care that went into preparing this book so that it is immediately visually stunning but then has wonderful text to read and enjoy and have some appeal to everyone.

A magnificent combination of pictures and text/stories on the Yukon. Great to see such a good book about a part of the world one rarely reads or hears about.

Personally, I feel that this book should be added to the the grade 12 academic calender. This book really shows a bit of all sides of Canadian History, Politics, Family, and virtually every aspect with living in a "Post Troudeau" generation.
Well worth the purchase.

Bravo Zulu to Mr. Gairdner. His book should be read by all Canadians. There's so much great stuff in it that I can't go into the detail here but it exposes the myths and realities of Multiculturalism, Medicare, the courts, the Justice system, Socialism, (the benifits of) Democratic Capitalism and many more.

William Gairdner details methodically the flawed thinking that has taken Canada down the road to it's current mediocre existence. Gairdner ruthlessly gores every sacred cow the elites have created in this country from socialized medicine to official bilingualism and multiculturalism as state policy.
