Paint Books

I never received this item and I've logged a complaint. I used my gift certificate to purchase it and now I don't know what to do....would someone please help???????

Great information at a great price! I recommend it for all levels of artists.

This book is full of wonderful illustrations and language. Lydia is an enchanting character and the book is a memorable one. I am 20 years old and remember it as my favorite book as a child; I never painted any walls after reading it :)

The book is about a girl who is bored and decides to paint walls, floors and furniture - not a book I want my kids reading and getting any ideas from.

I didn't have the problem of the previous reviewer. I received a good and clean copy. Now, to the book and its content. It is a remarkably well researched and well written book, with copious and helpful illustrations, glossary, appendices, notes, bibliography, and index. It basically presents and discusses all aspects of the subject madder (pun intended), from myth to history, through botany, agronomy, technology, and economy. Highly recommended to scholars, professionals, as well as interested individuals.

The product that I recieved is not the same edition as the one pictured on the websight and is a very low quality version. I sent it back because it wouldn't have lasted- I recieved a crummy glue bound book with cheap paper inside of a glossy cardboard cover. I've seen the edition that is shown on the websight and its a nice, properly-bound book with dust jacket. Amazon charged me for the return shipping saying that it was not their fault that I was dissatisfied with the book. (I contend.)

This book is unique in that it takes you step by step through not only finished embroidery designs, but also from the very beginning with instructions on how to dye the ribbon yourself (which saves quite a bit of money in the end).

It is clear, concise and easy to understand. This book is staple in my crafting library and I continue to reference it time and time again.

This book does not offer new or innovative techniques as stated and the examples demonstrated were not appealing as the cover would lead one to expect. It might serve as a source for begining needlewomen, but there are much better on the market for the price.

As the previous reviewer stated, very little explanation and not exactly step by step instruction. I expected more detail. Not happy. Will resell it or give it away.

This was a very nice book for its price I do not think that the illustrations were the artist best illustrations and the colors were not of the quality that I expected. It was very heavy on illustration but very light on explanation. It's still is a very good book for beginners but for those who have painted a while it was rather lacking in information and quite honestly needed more. For the beginner I would recommend this book for those of you who have been painting for a few years I would not.

For anyone interested in this topic this is an excellent book. I'm a long time instructor for UC Berkeley's Lead program and so very familiar with the regulatory structure that has evolved around the issue of childhood lead poisoning. Mr. English's work has given me much of the meat on these bones and all in all was very readable and appeared to me to be factual as well.

if you ever want to read a book whose sole function is to justify millions of children dying, going into comas and convulsing, this is the book to read. This guys says he's a pediatrician. He should be ashamed of himself.

I love this. I remember having these as a kid myself. They are not easy to find. They are great for youngsters. My two year old loves these types of paint books, not to hard. Fun, lots of colors. Clean up is easy. I put this one away until closer to Christmas, but can't wait to bring it out for my daughter.

Water color books were a great thing but this one was over priced and poor quality. I guess it was too old. The paint didn't work great and was not vibrant. My daughter lost interest.

How disappointing. According to Jerry, painting is a "god given" gift. He would not be able to paint without god's help. If god is all-powerful then if I were gifted from god to paint I wouldn't need this book. If I'm not gifted by god to paint then why bother? And again I wouldn't need this book.

I think I'll buy a book by a mere mortal so I can learn how to paint. : )

This book is by far the best art book I've owned as far as the very detailed step by step instructions it gives for each painting right down to the colours to mix and the brushes to use. Highly recommended.

There were approximately 10 painiting techniques shown in this book. The content is basically pictures of what other people have done, but I was looking for examples of what to do for my personal situations. For example, if you have, white wood floorboards, or if you have bright sunny rooms. I was also looking for color combinations that they recommended, you will not find that here.

This book lacked in explanation of "what to do if..." I have textured walls, but liked the looks of the stripes that the book exampled. But for my textured walls, straight lines would not be possible. This book lacks explanation of individual situations...

I just bought a new house, my first, and it was very important to me that it look like a showcase. I did plenty of research before I bought any interior decorating books. I even talked to a professional interior designer who gave me some free advice: get what you like. I like this book. It has more faux finishes than I have rooms in my house, so I can repaint in a few years with different styles I've learned about in this book. Some of the finishes are a little too "cute" for me, but it is still a book with techniques I've never seen before. I also recommend Recipes for Surfaces, Decorative Paint Finishes Made Simple by Mindy Drucker. Her book is not "cute" at all, and together, these books tell you all you need to know about paint finishes.

This was supposed to be a Christmas present for my niece, but she never received it. The first one was supposedly lost in shipping, then I was told that a replacement was being sent, then I was told that they were sold out. I wasn't charged for the item, but my niece didn't get a present either!

I ordered this for granddaughter who loves to draw horses. I was very impressed with the whole package. The book, supplies, and the instruction is excellent. Most adult artists could learn something, too. Good price, too, for all you get. Granddaughter thought it was great!
