words clearly can paint pictures, as seen with mr. weaver's self-published debut literary work. "if words could paint pictures" does a great job weaving (no pun intended) excellent prose with adolescent poetry. his poetry is nothing to flip past, though, as his rhyming verses are poigniant and dripping with maturing imagery. if you're looking to read about first loves and lasting friendships, read this.

mr. weaver's prose is what should catch the attention of fine-tuned literary hounds; his intelligent thoughts reflect a love for life and a keen eye for detail as well as a romantic soul. self-published works are indicative of works-to-come and i look forward to seeing what mr. weaver has for readers in the future.

This book takes you through good and bad times. Unlike any other poetry book I've ever read, you can really relate to it. It captures moments one is usually to busy to notice before they're gone. I recommend this book to everyone and I hope they enjoyed it as much as me.

When I first saw this book, I thought nothing of it. Well, not really. Everyone knows how "poetry" books are. However, I must say that the picture the words in this book paint breaks the image most people have of a book of poems. When I first sat down in my favorite easy chair and opened up this book, well, I realized something. This isn't a book of poems... It's a story of a man who's like me. The author can somehow summon up the words to capture those special moments, both good and bad, that I can't. If you're on the fence about this book, let this be what pushes you on over into getting a copy yourself, you probably won't regret it. Happy Reading!

This book rocks! I bought it not knowing what to expect and it really hits home with the author's words. I'm not what you'd call "in touch with my feelings" but this book really got me thinkin'. I highly recommend it.

I find this book a wonderful introduction to art for children. It is inspiring, and delightful. I love especially how in some of the works of Art chosen by Mrs. Rowden , she identifies colors with music and instruments. It truly makes the paintings come alive. It is a beautiful book, and one that I would highly recommend to all my students!

These simple, energetic poems dance, bounce, and swirl across the pages, drawing even the youngest kids in, making them laugh and use their imaginations. A fun way to expose kids to classic paintings (as well as poetry), letting them find enjoyment in the unfamiliar and surprise in the ordinary. What a pleasure to see children as young as three pointing to the pictures and finding their own "poetic" words. A great circle time book or gift.

I was so enthralled by this book's unusual and dramatically successful approach to great art that I ordered four copies, one each for my four grandchildren. Glad I did, since already each child has strong favorites among original poems and great reproductions contained in this beautiful, technically flawless book. I only regret I haven't yet ordered a copy for myself!

The rythmic simplicity of the poems should reach young readers and help them to appreciate a work of art. The choice and use of colors with the different poems should help the young reader to retain both the images and the vocabulary. In all, I found Paint Me a Poem by Justine Rowden to be a very interesting and enjoyable experience.

Once in very great while, a book comes along that takes you on a page-turning roller coaster ride. That book is, Paint Me As I Am, by H Jay Scheuermann. From the first page, right until the very last word, you will find it nearly impossible to tear yourself away from this gripping tale of a savage, twisted mind, and the havoc one's inner torment can wreck in our world.

Special Agent Jackie Jonas pursues a monster, an ungodly evil forged within the ruins of a child's tortured soul; Jerrod Young. As you follow the case of The Alphabet Killer, feeling every engrossing step Jackie takes that brings her closer to her quarry, you will soon find yourself ensnared in the heart pounding grip of a psychological thriller, one that stops at nothing in its quest to thrill, shock, and astound you.

In Jerrod Young, Scheuermann has mixed artistic genius with madness, creating an unforgettable killer with unique talent, and a deadly eye for beauty that compels him to murder. In Jackie Jonas, we meet the ultimate protagonist, one who will stop at nothing to suspend her enemy's bloody ramage. Don't expect to put this book down anytime soon once you are immersed within its suspenseful grip!

How many times have you bought a lottery ticket with the firm hope that out of millions of potential winners, you will be the one chosen? How many times have you given the same credence that out of millions of potential victims, a serial killer will choose you, even though the odds are the same? Paint Me As I Am is more than a story about individual characters. It is a story about how you and I so easily choose to hope in the best while quickly ignoring the worst. It is about the fragility that surrounds every moment of our lives, a fragility that we fear to face. How many times have you and I absorbed with morbid curiosity horror novels, movies of terror, and even news reports about the devastation of senseless, twisted violence? We approach this fiction and nonfiction with a sense of entertainment, a chance to step into danger without paying the price. Be warned because this novel will bring you closer to the reality of not just a serial killer's mind but his savage strike as well. Don't assume that the people you begin to care for in this story are going to make it out alive or unscathed. Even worse, don't assume that you will make it out unscathed, that you will be able to close this cover and return to the safe, secure routine of your life. Do you like surprises?

This latest thriller by H. Jay Scheuermann is a gripping tale inundated with knee-knocking suspense. Putting the book down once you've started the story is next to impossible. H Jay's creative style brings the characters to life, characters that will remain in your thoughts and in your heart long after the final page. It's not every day that a book comes around, especially fiction, that changes the way you preceive the world around you. Paint Me As I Am does just that.
Ive read this author's debut novel, The Gore Experiment, and found it worth every penny. I didn't think it possible, but this new release is even more intense, riviting, and breathtaking than his first. If you buy only one book this year, you just found your best bet.

A beautiful, one-of-a-kind guide to watercolor painting

I have purchased or flipped through dozens of books on watercolor painting, but this one is unique in many respects. First, the instruction level is clear, and easy to understand with beautiful step-by-step illustrations. Next, it is unique in that each demonstration is based upon the work of a famous watercolor painter or painting. For example, there is instruction on painting poppies, inspired by the work of Piet Mondrian. Another demonstrates how to paint a cherry tree using the methods of John Singer Sargent. Each demonstration is preceded by a color photograph of a scene resembling the painting that you are going to make. I would recommend this book for beginners as well as for more advanced artists. No matter how many other painting books you have, make room for this one!

I usually hate step-by-step books, but love this one.

Many aspiring artists, who consider themselves creative individuals, may balk at the idea of copying paintings in a step-by-step fashion. But give this book a chance and you will learn many useful techniques. You will also learn what the masters in this book knew: copying great paintings is a great way to learn. That is how to build a knowledge base that can free you to eventually create fine work on your own. You may ultimately end up painting in a style all your own that will have no resemblance to that of any of the artists in this book. That's the point!

But even if you are not a painter, this book is worth reading if you have any interest at all in the art of watercolor. The first part of the book gives a very valuable overview of the materials used in watercolor, with very clear and accurate information which you may not find elsewhere. There is also a good section on how watercolor has evolved over the centuries. I thought this part was well-researched and well written. Where the author has factual information about how one of the artists worked, he explains it clearly. When he has to conjecture, he explains what his conclusions are based on. Best of all, the many high quality color illustrations cover a variety of styles from different periods-good background for anyone interested in learning about this wonderful art form.

Highly recommended by a raving watercolor fanatic!

I absolutely adore this book and found a lot to use in it.

Ok, so chances are, you aren't going to be able to paint like John Singer Sergent just by reading this book. However, it is really interesting to read about Sergent's techniques and see the author do a painting in the style of Sergent.

Turner, Cotman, and other masters of the watercolor medium are demonstrated as well. This is a beautifully printed book with lots in it for anyone who loves watercolors. You can develop your own technique by studying the masters; this is a time-honored tradition (you can still see people today in the Louvre, copying the works of the masters as an art exercise.)

This is one of my favorite watercolor books. It's enjoyable just to read and look at the way the author tries to replicate an artist's method of painting, and the examples give you ideas of subjects you can try yourself (for example, a cherry tree by a barn, your kids at the beach, your garden.)

I purchased this for my 7 year old granddaughter - we both enjoyed it! The book includes paints and a rock. Instructions include how to mix the paints for different colors and a myriad of examples and inspirations. If the stone you found does not already suggest something, there are many examples of things you can paint: one side says 'Turn me over' the reverse says 'Thank you'. I have found most Klutz books to be easy to follow and lots of fun. Great pictures!

I used this book as inspiration for a project with the grades 3-5 crafts class I teach at my daughter's school -- it was a LOT of fun! I told the kids it would be the "hardest" project we'd ever work on ;) Instead of using the included paints we used numerous little 2 oz bottles of acrylic paint, which were really inexpensive, more colorful and gave the rocks a wonderful look. While the kids flipped through the book for ideas, the room was filled with lots of "Oh, cool" and "Oooooh!" and "Awesome!" remarks. So many choices, so little time! This was a neat project with great results from the kids. I began several rocks myself and I'm just as hooked! With a virtually endless supply of free or inexpensive "canvas" around and a comparable bounty of ideas, this book can lead you to limitless fun creations. A+

Allowing for creativity!

If you love racing, and if you have the respect of great drivers you will love this book. I own many NASCAR books, and this is my favorite. The pictures are amazing the information is great. You can't go wrong with this book. There is one sad thing about the book...after reading it reality sets in that we won't see this rivalry on the track ever again. The memories are well-documented in this book and will live on! Thanks Dale and Jeff!

I ordered this book a few days after the death of Dale Earnhardt. I've been a Jeff Gordon fan for a few years now, and loved watching the on-track duels between these two drivers. The stories and pictures compliment each other very well, telling the story of two fierce competitors and their respect for one another. I am sad knowing that there will never be another last lap duel between 'Wonderboy' and the Intimidator, but this book helps keep the memories alive. Highly recommended for fans of either driver, or NASCAR fans in general.

For anyone who likes balls-to-the-wall Nascar action this is the book for you! "Trading Paint" features 173 of the most awesome racing photos ever assembled and delves inside the intense rivalry that Jeff Gordon and the late great Dale Earnhardt shared. The shots of The Intimidator in action provide a great time capsule depicting a man at the top of his sport. As a huge fan of Earnhardt it was both enjoyable and bittersweet looking back over his legendary career through the pictures and text in this book. I also have more respect for Jeff Gordon than ever after reading his story and looking back on his many impressive victories. He's still got a lot of great racing left in him, and if you aren't impressed with him yet you should really check out some of the sick action shots of #24 in this book. Bottom line, whether you're a fan of Earnhardt or Gordon or you just plain love Nascar racing, "Trading Paint" is a must-have!

This book is every bit as good as her other book: "The Complete Book of Gourd Craft". It has different projects to inspire creativity, and it has fantastic photographs and detailed instructions. The only thing lacking (from both books) is the supply sources which are listed in the table of contents, but don't appear in the books anywhere I can find. Even without that part, the book is excellent.

Gourd Crafts, 20 Great Projects to Dye, Paint, Carve, Bead and Woodburn in a Weekend, is a gotta have book for all gourd crafters. I have all of Ginger's other books, and am just as excited, upon receiving this book, as I was with her others. Ginger always puts out all new information in each of her new books. I have been gourd crafting for 13 years, and yet her books are completely filled with new information, myself and others, can't wait to try. Making flowerpots, tea cups, napkins rings and bracelets are just a few of her new ideas that I plan to try. This book also includes new beautiful gourd work by other artists and crafters, not seen before. If you love working on gourds, get this new book. I will look at it, and learn from it for years to come, as I have with her other books.

Although this latest in the series Walter Foster books will provide anyone who might be interested in how to paint horses with excellent information and examples, there is really quite a bit more here than just that. The art is superb and the narrative provides unique insight into the whole artistic process. Elin is not only a gifted painter but a very talented writer as well. Anyone not already familiar with Elin's work can easily find more information by simply using Google to look for Elin Pendleton.

I'm pleased to see my book for sale on Amazon.com! It was a wonderful experience to create the paintings and text for this book, and I'm happy to say that it is very easy to follow and gives a good deal of insight into how I create my work. I reviewed the production at every step, and Walter Foster was wonderful on all counts!
I have been teaching for over 20 years, and have instructional videos out on both oil and acrylic painting available, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching. I continue to paint full-time, and I'm working on my next book and more video instructional tapes this year.
When you purchase the book, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about it.

The Art and Craft of Flower Pounding is awesome. This arts and crafts book is well written with easy to understand directions. The photographs of the projects presented in this book is a motivator in itself. The ideas are endless. Flower pounding is easy enough to do for a child's summer project as well as for an adult. My family is really enjoying this new craft so much that we had to go out and purchase a few more hammers! I highly recommend this book - especially if you are looking for a new, easy and unusual craft - this is it!!!!

I found Laura Martin's book over a year ago, and following the very easy to understand steps, have learned to pound flowers, leaves, and stems onto treated material (she gives the receipe)and also on paper. I have been able to spend many stress-relieving moments with my board and hammer in my little flower garden on cool mornings capturing and preserving the lovely blossoms which I have used to make very special cards, gifts, and treasures that will last a lifetime. I am now teaching this art to a few good friends and some young girls in our homeschool group, encouraging them to buy this book! My 9 year old daughter and I love to make "Flower Fairies" and "Flower Ballarinas" to put on cards, in frames, and on material for pillows and handmade journal covers, etc. The ideas shared have endless possibilities! If you have had a stressful day, go outside in a shaded area, sit on a blanket with your supplies, pick a few wildflowers, or blooms from your garden, or even some from the flowers you find in the floral market of your grocery store, and pound to your hearts content! I especially appreciate Laura Martin's knowledge of flowers shared in her "Plant Guide" in the back of the book. It has inspired me to plant more flowers, spend more time at the floral market and public gardens. I have even purchased seeds from a Wildflower Company online to grow this spring on our 1/2 acre of land that is usually overgrown with weeds! When I visit our kids in Oregon next month, we plan to find some ferns on our hikes that we will pound while taking a rest from our hiking. We will have these beautiful plants preservered as a wonderful reminder of our visit! As a homeschool family, we are using this art to teach our daughter about botany, keeping a visual record of the plants & wildflowers in a notebook, and then looking up the names in books at the library. And we are learning how to cultivate the flowers and are keeping a diary of that process! Highly recommend this book and craft for Garden Clubs, Girl Scouts, and the boys like it, too!
