This the Disney story about Arial, the little mermaid & all her odd assortment of friends that live with her in the sea.
My grand-daughter Britanie, is 4 years old & just loves this book/ tape so much that she wore it out. I love the idea that
the cassettes follow the words in the book so the children following the words read aloud, start to recognize words that
they hear. I am in the process of trying to purchase her another set. This is only thing she asked me to get again her for
Christmas.

you should read it to your kids or just read it on your own time.

The concept of this book is interesting. However, the color reproductions are not that good after I conducted my own experiments
with the like pigments and that is how I based my rating. The format showing 1 pigment mixed with several others is a useful
guide, but putting it into practice on your own is necessary to really see the results. Moira Clinch's 2 watercolor swatch
books are a bit more useful and differently formatted. Clinch's Walter Foster published book has better reproductions, Watercolor
Mixing Directory. If you are a watercolorist seeking to learn more about pigment mixing this book and others like it are useful
for mixing ideas. However, to learn more about pigments Michael Wilcox and Hilary Page's books on pigments are 2 of the best
references to use as guides to learn about pigment properties.

For those in need of a visual guide to mixing colors, this a terrific reference. The mixes presented are simple two-color
combinations and run the entire spectrum. It can also help to minimize the number of colors in your basic palette... sometimes
less really is more. Compreshensive, well organized and easy to use. A handy and highly recommended guide!

His artwork is good. It is helpful in learning techniques to eventually graduate in doing your own work by just looking a
scene or picture. All of his books are great, predictable, but great.

I watch Yarnell's PBS show whenever I possibly can, and always learn something from it. He's a fine artist. You would
not necessarily know that from this book, however. The book offers solid instruction, but the quality of his illustrations
(his paintings) is not very good. Let me clarify: I'm not necessarily criticizing the paintings themselves, but rather the
unflattering way they are reproduced. Even so, they are generally adequate to illustrate the various points made in the text.
Overall, it's a good book, if not a great one.

My kids had fun with their paint with water books after Christmas. Then when my daughter got hers out months later to paint
again the colors wouldn't work. The red worked a little but she got very frusterated since it was a mess of water and no
colors but the red. Can't they make them like they did when I was a kid?

My daughter really likes this and the pictures of each character are really big. The only thing I didn't like was the size
of the paint brush, so we just used a different one.

I remember when I was a little girl I loved these paint with water books.
As I remember you could barely see anything on the page other than the outlines of the pictures. Perhaps they used some toxic chemicals to make that "magic" work...but today's books show the colors before the water is applied and even then they're so pale they're hardly worth it. I think even the child figures "What's the point?"

My 3 1/2 year old loves it!

Seeing that this paint book is for children, it's the little one's opinion that counts. My daughter was so excited to begin
painting, and she loved it! When you first look at the paint colors, they seem dark, but once she added a little water with
the brush, they were perfect! The pink was just the right shade for Stephanie's hair and clothes, as well as the aqua-blue
for Sportacus. The other reviewer said her paints were cracked - well, ours weren't, just a little creased which it normal.
Anyway, a little water on the brush blends the paint back, so it was fine. The pages are porforated so you can remove before
they paint if you'd like, and the story is very cute. The only thing is that the paint runs out quickly, but I'm sure that
most households with children have plenty of paint on suppy. I recommend this paint book to all your little Lazytown fans
out there.
See that paint box? You're not getting it.

So, I bought this, all excited to have something for my LazyTown collection (I'm an avid LazyTown fan), and I was disappointed
with this product. I received the book, and one of those cheap cracked paint sets, not the pretty "LazyTown" one shown in
the product image. Also, the right side of the book had a slight tear which looked like someone tried to attach the paint
set to the right side of the book before realizing that it's not supposed to go on top of Sportacus.
The pictures inside are quite nicely drawn, on white paper, and have perforated edges so you can pull them out. There is a vague "story" with a couple sentences on each painting page, but it's mostly a description of each of the characters and the main plot of LazyTown. Concerning the pictures themselves, the artist seems to like drawing Stephanie's hair so that it curls around her face, and they draw Stingy like a zombie. That stare will haunt me for weeks. But there are pictures of Mayor Meanswell and Bessie Busybody, which is a plus.
The "calendar" on the back of this book is a joke; there are seven cut out tags saying such things as "rode my bike" and "helped a friend" which you're supposed to attach somehow to a cut out weekly calendar. The instructions read, "For each day, find a word card that tells about what you did that day and tape it on the chart. When the week ends, remove the cards and start again." ... I think a calendar with a little erasable pencil would be more useful, so you weren't restricted to doing these exact seven things on this week. (And completely besides the point, the picture of Stingy on said calendar is horrendous, and Sportacus doesn't look all that great either. Pah, they could've TRIED to find good pictures.)
If you have your own paint set for your kid to use, this is a nice little paint book, but if you're expecting a nice paint set to go with this, don't bother.

If you aren't an artist you may be frustrated by this one. I really didn't find this useful at all. I like great photos,
but when it comes to paint books I want the artist to tell me HOW they did it, technique, paint mixing and all. Nice pictures
won't help me mix paints or re-create the look in my own home. I have another book on faux finishing that tells you the ingredients.
Ex: mix ochre with raw umber, 1 part glaze to 3 parts paint etc etc. I find that far more helpful. I think there are far
better faux finish books on the market.

Thinking of re-painting a room or your entire house? Looking for innovative ways to transform your "inner image " of how
it could look into realistic form and beauty? Read this book before you begin. It is filled with versatile ways to achieve
exciting effect in the home with paint, either on the walls or on the furniture or on the floors. Ms Sloan presents painting
techniques, the newest material, and provides a list of suppliers as well. Textured looks, pearlized paint, sparkle paint,
how to use plaster and patterns make this a very savvy book. Glad I found it before I made a very expensive mess.

Let's just say, she liked the vocal selections more.
This book is actually wonderful. I expected a bad collection, but instead I was given a good collection of songs with BEAUTIFUL full color pictures. If I could post the pictures online, I would. They are stunning. Directly from the film, the pictures steal the book. If you are not into singing, but still have it hard for The Little Mermaid, then buy this book just for the pictures. It's worth it.
Wow. It's worth it.
As for the songs themselves, you'd expect more of a piano line from one of Disney's greatest treasures. I mean, it's an accompaniment, but it's not a full orchestration. Remember that when buying Disney product vocal selections: IT'S NOT LIKE THE MOVIE. It's a harmony line with some fun syncopation.
It was a good buy all in all.
Recommended.
