Paint Books

Great book full of information. Step-by-step process outlined by the best in the bussiness. After reading this book I had a better understanding of the whole painting process.

This book offers many unique ideas for the glass painting crafter/artist. I paint on glass for a living and have seen just about every technique out there right now. When I see something new, I am surprised and thankful. This book surprised me. And, I am thankful. The projects are attractive and colorful and most are designed for objects that most people already have around their house. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of the projects done with foil leafing do not turn out as well in person, as they look in the book. I believe the photography helped in this area. (Although, could be me!) However, the instructions are wonderful and it is a book worth owning.

This is a good book to understand application of dye. It is not so much a book of principle as a book of application to industry. So it is enough to recommende to graduate school student, for it is difficult to understand without principle fo organic chemistry.

This is great for my almost 3 year old to be creative and have fun with something other than crayons. The only negative is that the brush is VERY cheap and doesn't hold paint well.

This book provides the basics for any inexperienced painter or wallpaperer. Beginning with a list of materials needed for each type of project, this book outlines the steps from preparation to finished product in a detailed manner (with photos and illustrations to help along the way). A great find for the beginner!

i really enjoyed this book. it explained things well and gave me some neat ideas. after reading this book, i bought an unfinished shelf and painted it, following an idea in the book. it turned out great and i'm really happy with it.

I've used this book to guide me, a raw beginner that did not know the difference between oil & water based paint, from painting room to room to exterior porches and windows...on and on...to the point that I'm now considered a very good painter.
Well written for the beginner, with plenty of practical information without getting too technical.

I think this book appeals to people who don't want to or have time to code in MATLAB. It does not have in depth information on color science, so you will want to buy a separate book. Once you have done that, you can just as easily write your own code; the code involved in color science is not that complex. The value in borrowing code is if it is concise and fast (not saying theirs isn't), or if it saves you effort. Since my background was lacking, I ended up reading Schanda's Colorimetry and cranking out my own code to complement MATLAB's Image Processing Toolbox.

From paint and scrub technique to gold leaf, Richard Kollath covers the simple to the more involved possibilities to alter a piece of furniture. This book gives detailed instructions and plenty of pictures to help the new refinisher like myself. I find his ideas and projects interesting, uncomplicated and worth trying. I also appreciated his concern for the environment and his recommendation for a more ecologically sound paint stripper

Nicely laid out with 2-3 pictures of each technique to inspire you, a little history on the techniques, and then materials and how-to do it in the last chapters.
