Paint Books

This is a great book for an art lover to read. It is not only because the author Mr. Dong has a tremendus reputation in the watercolor world but also his beautiful art works with familiar city scenes. Reading this book makes you feel that you have been traveling with this great artist as a long time friend, bringing you into his life. from a young boy who like to paint the Yellow Tiger until he becomes a famous artist. Whether this book serve as an autobiography or a story book, the author put most of his art skills and philosophy into it. Such as, all his human figures are facing the same direction and think the same things, He always seems to put the oriental Yin-Yan rule into his painting. I also enjoy his soft color, the balance of shape and light and the composition for which he has become so famous.

Finally, a management book that is ensightful, very useful, and very easy to read. I wish one of my college professors would have incorporated this book into the class. I learned more from this book than from all the classes I took for my undergrad and grad degrees. I give it a very strong recommendation.

"Successful paintings express feelings. I think paintings without emotion content aren't worth the paper. Clever technique alone has little lasting value. Superficial dash and sparkle fade pretty rapidly in interest." That's what the artist states and is ever so true, true to the feelings and true to his faith to art. I am always inspired by this artist, through what he says, through his paintings and how he started his watercolour painting at his fifty! The light, the emotions, the people, and the whole feel of the picture... the painting itself tells!! I have read this book for many times and every time I read like is the first time. If you love watercolour painting, you should not miss this book!

This is an amazing book. Who wants to learn Impressionism or likes to learn painting this is the best choice for them. If one follow the instructions,I am sure,he or she will be beneffited. I am art student, and I regret why I didnt buy this book earlier and practiced!!

I am an artist and I love this book, another one of my favorites and I have used some of the techniques in her to make my own paintins. well worth the coat. Great books never go out of style.

I'm currently reading the german edition of this book (Male dein Gesicht auf einen Strudel im Fluss) for my daughter. She is fascinated by the spirit of this book as I was when I was young.

Told in poetic form, this is the story of a brother and sister who explore the seashore to find out out the real color of the ocean. Is it red, brown, green, pink, gray, black? Or, is it really blue? Well, as the reader finds out, it all depends on when and how one looks at it.
The illustrations that accompany the text are lovely. the artist has managed to capture the various moods and hues that are a part of each time of the day. He does this through his gentle and appropriate use of color - at sunset the ocean does look red. the reader can't help but feel that he/she is actually experiencing the sea at sunset, dawn, on a cool or rainy summer night or on a warm, bright sunny day.
I highly recommend reading this book to children in pre-school through grade two.

This book is excellent for beginners (or at least seems so to this beginner). It explains how the various products in each medium interact with each other - information that would have taken me years to figure out on my own (if I didn't lose interest before then). It explains how to mix colors (avoiding mud). It is a good primer on color theory and the basics of composition. Best of all, it's an easy read with lots of illustrated/photographed examples. It covers watercolors, acrylics and oils, colored pencil, pastels, etc. It also talks about the different surfaces, mediums and varnishes you can use to enhance or protect your work. It has step-by-step instructions on various techniques, from loading your brush to using masks.

I borrowed this book from the library, but I may purchase it as a reference book.

What a great book to have for ideas for the bath. You get a lot more than what you'd get with just a magazine.
