Paint Books

This is a great one stroke book. I refer to it often. It's well worth the money.

this is a nice kit in the form of a hard back book. when you open it up the left side has a plastic covering and within are several tubes of paint and brushes, eraser and a pencil. the right side contains a drawing/painting pad of paper and in front of that is the book itself which actually has the appearance of a small comic book. it has some pretty neat stuff to draw and depicts the stages nicely. it was worth it for sure for my 11 year old nephew. its a cool little kit.

This book is the section about drawing dragons of the excellent book The Art of Drawing Dragons, Mythological Beasts, and Fantasy Creatures: Discover Simple Step-by-Step Techniques for Drawing Fantastic Creatures of Folklore and Legendin the larger version of the how to draw series of Walter Foster books. This also has the step by step
instructions and outstanding artwork of the author Micheael Dobrzycki.

While perusing the kids' section at the local library, I ran across this book. Thinking it might offer an easy introduction for my daughter, I checked it out. The book is approachable for even the youngest of children, but here's the surprise: it's a wonderful primer in drawing for adults as well!

The author doesn't attempt to teach an art course in this thin book, but she does an amazing job summarizing, very simply, many key concepts in drawing. She even tackles drawing people, and her approach managed to take me from drawing (unintentionally) humorous figures to recognizable, properly-proportioned people in fairly short order!

I've since ordered this book; it's simply too helpful to avoid having my own copy handy. It's hard to believe, but for this amateur hobbyist artist, this book is far more useful than most of the other drawing books I've managed to accumulate over the years.

Lynne Carver's Dreaming Pigs is a bizarre and fantastic novel about three people who conspire to steal a pig cloned especially to create organs harvestable for human beings, and who find themselves in for much more than they bargained. Witty, caustic, and offering a different perspective on the latest medical breakthroughs of today, Dreaming Pigs is highly recommended, entertaining, and occassionally thought-provoking reading.

Paul Campbell has really done his homework, gone out in the field, and spoken to many local people. He has contacted experts where needed, but he has great knowledge of the natural environments of California. This book must have taken a long time to research. The book is easy-to-read by regular people and yet a good reference for those who work with pigments as well. The photos are great; nice overview shots of pictographs and detail shots of the drawings. Lots of photos of Native Americans in California.
