This book answered alot of questions I had when I painted my hot rod. The book is written in a very easy to understand, no nonsense style. It does not waste space on things you don't need. I especially liked the troubleshooting chapter. That came in very handy. One thing that helped is that there are plenty of pictures. There is a photo for every step of each technique. You can really see how it is done. If you are looking to get a tool that will make it easy to do any kind of custom paint work, this is the book for you. It covers flames, tribal graphics, even airbrush artwork. It tells the tools and materials you need for each each kind of artwork. Best $16.00 I ever spent.

Love the Real Fire Flame Tech

I saw the cover car at a GoodGuys Car Show and then saw this book. So I bought it and all I can say is wow. It was amazing to see the process of how the real flames were painted. She takes you through the whole thing, from start to finish. The story of how she came to paint these flames is pretty funny even. The rest of the book is also great. The author JoAnn really goes into detail explaining all the techniques, from traditional flames to graphics. I really liked the wide variety of techniques she goes through in this book. There's a chapter on painting pinup girls that really blew me away. I can now mix up skin tone and paint people after reading that chapter. There are good explanations of the tools used, airbrushes and spray guns. It was very easy to understand and you don't need to be an experienced painter to use this book. I am a beginner and I could follow the lessons in it. But my favorote was the real fire process. The photo on the cover does not really show how incredible this car looks in real life. Some of the photos inside the book show the car more accurately, but the depth of the flame layers is unreal. If you want to paint real flames, check out this book. I do have another of JoAnn's books and thought that one was good, but this one goes over things that the first one does not.

A book to treasure

This book's modest title fauils to describe its full worth. It is full of good sense, sound technical information and really excellent drawing. Linda Birch has a mastery of all media, and her writing displays the confidence of a gifted teacher. Her authority stems partly from her own obvious love of animals and her careful observation of them. She faces the question "Oh dear, I shall never be able to do that" with an encouraging "Yes you can, and I will show you how". Everything is here - texture, movement, anatomy, all brought together through many years of experience of teaching. Linda offers regular painting courses in Durham, and in other parts of England. Her students will be very fortunate, having the benefit of the fluency and wit which shines from these pages. A book to treasure.

I bought this for my 9 -1/2 y/o budding artist. She asked me one day how to draw a nose. So we went to the library and found this book among many other art books. It was a 'have-to-have'. It is perfect for 8y/o & older. Each aspect of the face(eyes, ears, etc...) is simply illustratrated across several pages. It also covers facial expressions, perpective, color, patterns and much more. What a find!

A simple way to become an artist

This book by Angela Gair is a small thesaurus for all those who want to be artists. Although not easy at first, this book guides you step-by-step to a successful design. Being an art student myself, I found this book not only very attractive to read, but also very helpful in my course. It may need time, patience and effort to achieve the desirable outcome, but I believe that in the end everyone will appreciate the value of this book.

This book was an invaluable tool to my mother when she was painting. I learnt to paint from the advice given in this book as a child and coveted it. It describes in detail techniques and materials. It also shows step by step examples of how a painting is constructed. I wish I had a copy.

This book is one of the most useful books on drawing and painting I have come across. Not only does it discuss the different techniques of painting and drawing, it is a good source for information about the media- art materials, color characteristics and so on.

I have been an avid Crafter for years. In fact I thought I had seen it all. I was watching a T.V. Crafting Show (Aleene's) and was captured by a lady effortlessly painting beautiful designs on glass windows with sponges. It looked so easy and turned out so beautiful. I bought the Christmas Book and the Kit that went with it in Sept. What a pleasant surprise. Not only did the Book show and tell you EXACTLY how to do the Designs with full-color examples, but also provided extensive information on Window Painting as a Business. I tried out some of the Designs on my own windows and they turned out beautiful. Before I knew it, I had neighbors and friends asking me to paint their windows. I actually made over $500.00 and only had to spend $45.00 to do it. I will definitely be buying Cindy's All Occasion Book as well. Candice

I originally bought the Book out of curiosity, liked it so much, my daughter has decided to Window Paint for part time income. The Book gives simple, easy to follow directions, and great advice on how to get started in the Business. I love the full color Illustrations which demonstrate just how the Designs will look. Can't wait for the upcoming Video. Donna Grier

This artist's instructions are the best that I have seen. I just started painting in 1993 and one of my passions is portrait painting. I did not know how to start and when I found this book in my local library I immediately purchased it. The artist takes you step by step with very detailed pictures. I only wish I could purchase his videos; however, I have been unable to find a source from which to purchase them. I would like to see more books from Mr. Du Toit!

Whenever my friends buy their own houses or apartments for the first time, I like to give them a copy of this book so that they can see the potential of doing whatever they want with their new home. Children, too, will enjoy reading about a home designed by another child that includes various colors and animals. Such a great book.

This is a well-written and thorough resource for Independence Rock and the surrounding area. I found it facinating and helpful and would highly recommend it to anyone who has interest in the area. The authors have put an incredible amount of time and effort into listing all the known and readable writings in the area. You should get it before you go, rather than after you leave as I did. Your experience will be much greater if you look through the book first and take it with you.

Meaningful

Levida Hileman has done an exceptional job of painstakingly picking through the thousands of inscriptions left behind by the overland emigrants at the celebrated Oregon Trail landmarks of Independence Rock and Devil's Gate. Levida and her coworkers tallied over 2,000 names, and where historical documentation was available, brief notations of these individuals are included. As she points out, this book may also be used for some to trace genealogical ancestry.
Reviewer Dr. Lund notes on the book's back cover, "If you are a serious student of the western emigration, you will want this book." No argument there. Even to the novice of westward migration this is a wonderful look into the history, mystery, legends and emigrant experiences of this seemingly mythical, but certainly real place, along the Oregon Trail.
An insightful read.

I am a Color Manager for one of the worlds largest paint companies and even though I have been working with pigments for 15 years I have found W. Herbst & K. Hunger's "Industrial Organic Pigments" to be a great reference book which I wouldn't want to miss anymore.
It contains information on almost all of the currently available organic pigments, including chemical structures, properties and much helpful information to each of them.
It is full of information that one needs to make educated decisions on the use of organic pigments and their suitability for the intended purpose.
It is well worth the comparably high price, as this book will save you hours and hours by providing information that one would have to "hunt-down" from suppliers or other books. Highly recommended.
