Nebrija's "Gramática Castellana" was the first grammar ever written about Spanish, and I believe it's also the first grammar ever written about a language other than Latin or Greek. All Spanish students should thank Nebrija's influence in the Spanish language. For instance, he's responsible for the logical spelling.

I was given this "box of miracles" as a gift due to my interest. As an intuitive consultant who has been teaching other people how to connect with their guardians via meditation, I just think this is such a sweet idea. It comes with little papers where your wishes can be written down, rolled up and put into a little pocket on the back of the minatue angel doll. The booklet is written well and is simple to understand with great suggestions to teach you how to pray, meditate, and communicate with your guardian angel. This makes a great gift to lift the spirits of friends and especially angel lovers.

I just showed this book to my first graders and they loved it! Every page brought new oohs and ahhs. When I taught fourth grade I let my students try painting their own hands after viewing this book. That turned out to be quite a mess and the end products weren't quite as recognizable as those in the book, but everyone had fun. :)

Perfect for gift giving; stocking stuffer, gift basket or "just because". This cute LITTLE book is crammed with inspiring quotations and popular sayings about Happiness at Home. Many quotations are anonymous, from the Bible or famous people. Each page is filled with darling illustrations that follow a "country-folk art theme". Also includes three recipes: Cherry Pie, Sugar Cookies, and Watermelon Rind Preserves.

The Hardy Boys' Guide to Life is a great little book for all Hardy Boy fans. It is filled with humorous little observations that were taken from various Hardy Boys stories. One that popped out at me and that was listed under survival strategies went like this: "If your being tied to a chair, expand your chest, flex your muscles, and keep your arms as far away from your sides as possible. That way, when you relax your body, the binds will not be as tight as your captors intended." This is funny stuff!

Here's a couple more... "A good blow to the head can reverse twenty five years of amnesia." And... "Never go anywhere without emergency rations like candy bars, fruit and crackers in your pockets; that way you won't starve if someone locks you in a secret room." I love this stuff! I think that the various soap operas should publish their own versions of this type of book.

This is a great little book. It will make a fun stocking stuffer and will bring back many happy reading memories for all Hardy Boy fans.

Sadly, this Christmas novella is overshadowed (as are the other four) by A Christmas Carol -- which is, no question, a classic.

But I found this book a worthy equal, if not a bit better than Carol, in that the characters are a little more fleshed out, the movement of the story has darker and therefore more dramatic flourishes - while at the same time the comic characters are more complete and take a more central place in the plot. And the `message' is a bit less obvious.

The ghost of the title is far more sinister than Marley and Christmas Future combined!

My kids love all the books to the story reader. Great for traveling.

I am fortunate to have seen the quilts in this book in real life when Ms Gravatt visited the London Quilters in the mid 1990s to exhibit her work. The workmanship is quite exquisite and these little quilts really are miniature replicas of full sized quilts.

The book contains patterns for 17 miniature quilts. The techniques used range from Hawaiian applique and traditional applique methods to Grandmother's Flower Garden using the English paper piecing method and even a delightful little Yo-yo quilt.

This book is not aimed at the beginner but at the quilter who understands how patchwork and applique quilts are made and planned and how to choose fabrics. Some suggestions are made at the beginning for finishing techniques and there are some general basic instructions but most of the quilts are complex enough that you will need to know what you are doing before you start.

That said it's a delightful book, beautifully photographed, which will grace any patchworker's shelves even if used purely as eye candy. And you never know when you will need to make that special quilt for a special doll!
