One Great Garfield Book!

Yes, yes, yes, yes. I know that the logos are missing from this book and that's why I lowered ratings on the other Treasuries, but since this was the first Treasury I bought, I don't really care. This book is just to funny! Garfield's Christmas, Garfield's New Years, a real great food joke, all sorts of great things are within the pages of this book, in beautiful living color, too.

We all know who Garfield is but some of us haven't really read him, yet. I used to not read him but when I discovered this gorgeous book, I couldn't get enough of him. Him, his owner, Jon, the idiot dog, Odie, all get into some very funny situations. I, like all have the other books, have read this one countless times. I love it. Garfield cracking some of his best jokes in his longer, more colorful, and more energetic Sunday strips. I'd recommend you buy this book now! It's a no regrets one, unless you regret laughing to hard.

If you've seen an 1800s quilt, you may have seen the results of punch needle work - but until now it's been a challenge to locate beginner's guides to punch needle work. Here are over twenty motifs to use in a miniature quilt or for embroidery accents: colorful, full-page close-up shots of motifs accompany step-by-step instruction and ideas for improving on the process. Getting Started In Punch Needle: 22 Motifs To Make A Miniature Quilt Or Decorative Embroidery Accents is the perfect starting point for a nearly-forgotten art.

There is always one more craft I want to try and Punch Needle is no exception. I had yet to find a book that provided good instructions AND had graphics large enough that I could see them well enough to understand. GETTING STARTED IN PUNCH NEEDLE does both.

The first 14 pages explains what punch needle is, gives a bit of its history and then talks about Album quilts such as the Baltimore. Page 16-25 tells you how to do punch needle and has those large graphics for which I was looking. Pages 26 - 31 contain the instructions for making the quilt.

Pages 32 - 91 have all the patterns - a color photo of what the punch needle design will look like, instructions for creating that pattern and the template to use. A Materials list and a color key with DMC/Anchor changes is also found here.

The final five pages are about all the authors of this well put together book and a one page glossary of terms, something that is always good when you are beginning a craft. Not a bad idea for reviewing a craft that you haven't done in a long time either!

Once you have completed the Baltimore Album Quilt, use the patterns over again to make wall hangings, to decorate a pillow, jacket or chair back. Use the templates for Red Work patterns or if you are a painter, use them for your paint projects. If you put your thinking cap on, you will find lots of uses for these patterns.

The designs in this book are easy to follow, and fun to make. Great pictures, nice format, and inspiring ideas for the beginning to expert crafter. Also recommended is "Feltcraft", which displays a wide array of other felt toys and crafts.

I am totally satisfied with this purchase.

This would be a terrific book for a grandmother or older sister to use with little kids, particularly if the kids like stories about elves or gnomes.

The book has instructions and patterns for a variety of gnomes in several different sizes and styles. Most are made of felt with the addition of nuts, beads, pipecleaners and other easily found craft supplies.

Many of the projects could be completed by a 6-7 year old with some help from an adult or teen. Younger kids could help by finding feathers, nuts, seeds, etc to be used to trim the gnomes somebody else makes.

This book will enable Children to produce really nice projects to use for decorations or gifts. Turn off the TV and the computer and spend an evening making gnomes. You will find that it is truely magic!

This is a superbly illustrated volume on collecting and identifying model knights for collectorsw and enthusiasts. The photographs, as well as the accompanying drawings of heraldry in color, are magnificent, and enable the reader to do excellent research for either his own collection or to start and build one.

The models of Courtenay, Ping, Selwyn-Smith, Desfontaines, and other manufacturers and enthusiasts made a visual treat, and the accompanying text is excellent. While I was somewhat disappointed that Britains excellent Swoppet plastic knights were not included, that is a minor distraction and does not take away from either the presentation or the impact of this volume.

My favorite presentation was of the work of Selwyn-Smith which eventually became the Knights of Agincourt in the Britains range in the 1950s, which I also collect, as well as a very small range of models which are a conversion of Selwyn-Smith's models and Courtney parts, such as helmets, heads, and stands. The heraldry and painting of both of these small ranges as models and not toys is outstanding and are an inspiration to improve one's own collection, or to start a collection of knights and men-at-arms as soon as possible.

It should be noted that Britains has started to produce a new range of Knights of Agincourt, which are excellent and well worth getting and fit in very well with both the old range and the material in this book.

This volume is enthusiastically recommended.

HERALDIC MINIATURE KNIGHTS is the indispensible book for collectors of toy knights and medieval miniatures all around the world. Peter Greenhill's labor of love covers the work of the late, great Richard Courtenay and his rivals and successors in exhaustive detail. Exquisite color photographs of every Courtenay pose and of many figures by Ping, Vertunni, Desfontaines, Stadden, Cuypers, Greenhill himself, and other top makers make for as beautiful a book as any collector would want. If you are interested in collecting medieval figures, you MUST have this book. Nothing else comes close.

This book will help anybody become acquainted with the rules and history of the Hordes universe, a popular product line from Privateer Press. It displays the models and rules for each of the four playable factions and then adds a rich back story to each model that meshes well with the overall feel of each faction. An excellent buy.

So if you are reading this, you most likely already know a bit about what this sort of book is all about. If not, here is the short and dirty. You move little painted metal miniatures around on a table, roll some dice and see if your guys kill your friend's guys. Doesn't that sound like fun? It is! So this book is packed with awesome characters and stories. This isn't Joe Blow mountain man controlling a few dogs and troops. Every character, unit, beast, and solo has a story. Some are larger than others, but there is meat behind it all.

Privateer has become successful, many people say, because of their awesome rules. They create an exciting atmosphere for these battles and create so much flexibility. If you play Warmachine, you already know the majority of the rules. You have to learn about the fury mechanic to really get the full grasp, but that's about it.

I've heard of people who don't even wargame buying this book and loving it. It just has so much cool stuff in it, I guess you just have to flip though it to find out.

The slides in this book are all in color which is great. Even though it says from cave temples to the colonial period there is not much on the earlier cave temple times. I think it serves more as background information on the Mughal period art. Of which, the book focuses on with a brief look at some 20th century pieces. Overall it is a good read with analysis of the work it contains. A very nice museum collection. Well worth it!

An exceptional presentation.

Over a hundred examples of Indian painting history and styles, in full color, grace the pages of INDIAN PAINTING FROM CAVE TEMPLES TO THE COLONIAL PERIOD, a far-reaching survey of illustrations selected for their ability to reach the non-artist, non-Indian-specialist viewer. A history of Indian painting styles and trends covers scriptures, music-inspired images, and historical renditions while full-page color selections liberally dose almost every page. Over a hundred works from the MFA's holdings make for an exceptional presentation.

I purchased "Itty & Bitty: Friends on the Farm" for my niece, who is six. Even though she'd never been particularly interested in horses, she is now, because she absolutely loves this book -- and it's understandable: It's a fun and engaging read, and the illustration is stunning. The rhymes are clever, and while there were a few words that my niece didn't know, she was eager to know their meaning; in that regard, I see this is a great vocabulary and phonics tool.

Wonderful!

I have to say this is one delightful book that will warm the heart of child and adult. In this fun-filled read we meet Itty and Bitty, two miniature horses and we are taken along as they gallope through their day with their friends at Steele Away Farm.
I giggled away as I turned the pages and saw the illustrations of these adorable guys playing hide and seek, sitting at the table having their dinner, and working-out. How cute is that? The illustrations in this book are definitely top of the line. Vivid in color and brimming with imagination that just screams out at you from the pages; and the storyline flows along with ease as the two team up to bring you an out of the box reading experience. I very highly recommend you purchase this book for the child you love and for the child in you. Exceptional!

Great gift for decor of worshiping

I'm not a Buddhist, but I like this kit any way. I got it as a gift for my mom because she thinks buddha statues are neat(She is not a buddhist, either).

But this kit is great for decor and worship alike. Comes with a real buddah statue, incesne, a candle, book and more. use the box as an altar. this is perfect for a desk or car, or a nice piece of decoration.

The buddah kit is great for travel. take it with you on trips. if you need to practice, but don't have time to go to a worship temple, use this. IF you buy this and you worship, you can worship at home without spending millions of dollars on a fourty -foot buddah statue(unless you really want to!).

The statue is very realistic. with all the candle and incese, you got an authentic buddah statue. for $8 dollars, it can't be beat. I recomend this to any Buddhist( unless you have a giant one in your house!)

Get it if you worship buddha. You'll be glad you did.

Worship this kit!

This kit contains a 1.5" tall Buddha and stand, incense, an incense holder, and an accompanying book in a shrine-shaped box that opens into a portable altar. This is definitely one of the better-quality kits made by Running Press--and it's incredibly cute! The book actually contains some useful information, and the Buddha, stand, and incense holder are made of fairly heavy-duty materials. The picture on the back of the box is deceptive; you only receive 2 pieces of incense, as opposed to the small handfull shown in the picture. (When I opened my kit, one stick was already broken, and the other one broke shortly thereafter.)

This Buddha kit is perfect for my 8" tall, stuffed puppy. Puppychu has placed this mini-altar inside his 15" doghouse, and he prays daily, just like his dad, who has a much bigger altar in his own house. Puppychu has also bought nearly all the other Mini-kits from Running Press, and considers himself an expert on their products.

I received this as a Christmas present and was suprised at how tiny it is. Only 127 pages long and it measures just about 3X3! However this small package is packed with Muppet takes on classic Christmas carols (Please Rest Ye Grumpy Gentlemen), stories (The Thrift of the Magi), Muppet letters to Santa and illustrated with charming photos of the Muppets in various Christmas settings. It's sure to bring joy and delight to children as well as adults!
