This is a great jazz etude... Rachmaninoff wrote some really cool harmonies, especially for 1910 or whatever... with polychords, minor major 7ths, dominant b13, block chords... excellent! It's a difficult read, and I still can't play it full speed, but read through this piece and you will feel confident that you can play anything.

One of the Greatest piano concertos arranged for 2 pianos.

for those of u that saw "shrine" i guess u already discovered the "magical" feeling after hearing this piece. w/ this arrangement the piece could be played by two ppl instead of w/ the orch... makes things simplier but sounds just as nice.

Quite possibly the hardest piano music ever written - but well worth it

I bought this piece of sheet music after my teacher recommended it as a 'good piano competition piece.' I had already worked on most of Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto (also very difficult) and the third movement of Mozart's 17th concerto. I would definitely not recommend getting this piece if you don't have a MAJOR desire to learn it as it is very difficult. However, the piece is extremely beautiful, and technically showy (which is why it is a 'good competition piece') - probably my favorite piece of sheet music at the moment. I have been playing piano for 12 years and would consider myself fairly advanced - but I still anticipate it taking at least 6-8 months to learn this piece, and that's practicing it up to and about 1 hour per day. Rachmaninoff wrote a masterpiece and it is considered today to be one of the most beautiful and difficult piano concertos, up there with Tchaikovsky's 1st. This edition has a limited amount of fingerings, but it is easily readable and not over-edited like some editions. I wholeheartedly recommend it but will warn you again not to attempt to learn it unless you have a strong desire to do so.

This book is one of the best modern text so suitable for beginners who wish to pursue the study of palmistry. A book which is free of jargon and technicalities and is so easy to learn, to follow, to understand the whole book without any difficulty at all. Illustrations in the book are so well designed especially the deck cards for students to remember all that is necessary for hand reading. This book clearly presents all the fundamental knowledge of palmistry. I strongly this excellent modern text to all students and the laymen who wish to know what palmistry is all about.

Astoundingly Accurate

I've been lucky to have my hands read by the author. Her approach to palmistry is the opposite of the clichéd generalities that the average person has had at a `gypsy fortune-teller' or psychic show. Based on scientific method, I was astounded at the accuracy of her analysis. Marion pinpointed areas of my personality that I thought were known only to myself! It's a fantastic toolkit that is now available to anyone to analyze and understand themselves.

The slant of the book is on relationships: how to find if you are compatible with your mate, what will keep you together, or help you to discover why you're not seeing eye-to-eye. What's amazing is that a lot of it comes down to some very simple differences between the sexes, and Marion Gale has included tips using psychology and scientific studies to further comprehend specific personality traits. Her chapter on shyness I found to be particularly helpful in understanding this commoner-than-you-think characteristic - which often is the spur to great achievement in life.

I would recommend the large-format book which comes with the card deck - both beautifully designed in friendly, cheerful colours and a unique magnetic box. The cards are very easy to use - no hefty book to balance while you're peering at your hands: you just pick the card that matches what's in your hand, flip it over, and the explanation is on the back. The cards are great as gifts, and fun for a `girls' night in'. The book is an in-depth companion and has been both entertaining and enlightening to me. Very highly recommended!

This book is an absolute MUST HAVE for every girl or woman, who wishes to find and keep true love with a compatible partner. The author, Marion Gale, has helped hundreds of women (including myself) to rebuild their self-confidence and find happiness and harmony in their love-life. You can spend your youth trying to figure out human character, or waste years of your life (and tons of energy), trying to make relationships "work," or you can buy this book and learn how to figure out a person in a few minutes, by simply looking at his hands.
Once you carefully read the book, you can carry the convenient deck of cards in your purse and try to read people's hands (not just palms) every time you get the chance to. I promise, you will be amazed.
The book comes in a beautiful package (colorful glossy box), and it would make the perfect gift for your best friend, sister or daughter!

A very small book for very small hands. It introduces your child to some simple words and of course, the pictures are the cutest. Our daughter loved this from the moment we got it for her (before her first birthday). She is three now and we need to replace this book. It's been taped back together many times, but the love good to be too much for it.

"Richard Scarry's Lowly Worm Book" is a Random House Chunky Book. It features a series of pictures with one-word labels on the items depicted: chimney, roof, house, tree, leaf, etc. The emphasis in general is on common household objects; this book could be a good educational tool for beginning readers. The book's title character is seen at least once on every colorful two-page spread. With his innocent smile, green hat, and single red sneaker, the Worm is a charming, likeable character with lots of visual appeal.

Excellent book for toddlers!

Chunky books are great for little hands, and all children love Richard Scarry books. I first heard about them when my cousins were little, and started buying them when our first child was born. She liked them, as did our second, third, and fourth child. Our youngest is 15 months old, and Richard Scarry's Lowly Worm Book is one of his favorites. He loves to turn the pages, look at the pictures, and ask "What that?". Each page has a simple picture, making it easy to give a one-word answer. Each picture has captions on each element, so that as the child gets older you are prompted to give more detailed answers to the "What that?" question. Buy the Richard Scarry chunky books for your toddler, and keep on buying Richard Scarry books and videos as he/she grows. They are always fun to look at for both children and adults!

Here's a delightful story, based on a true event, of the theft of a wagon load of Passover wine from a little Jewish grocer in Cincinatti in 1919.

In case you didn't know, a shelmiel is a luckless and inept fool, lacking enough sense even to change himself (however slightly) for the better. But the reader of this book will have a lot of luck, even if the chief culprits have none.

Besides from offering a great story, this beautifully illustrated picture book is a good reminder of the historical presence of Jewish Americans throughout the U.S., in many capacities.

It's been a while since I bought any new picture books, but if I were still buying them, this one would definitely be on my list.

Wonderful!

This is an ideal intro to Star Wars Miniatures, and it's pretty cheap too! If you want to get into Minis start with this one. The only problem is that the board is paper and prone to ripping. Laminate it and you're good to go!

I have to say the photography in this book is BEAUTIFUL. The photographer somehow catches the best angles, and thus creates a deep sense of inspiration in the reader. The book also gives good recommendations of different species and what can be used in different environments (terrariums, submerged, etc.). Awesome book.

This little package is great for travel. The cards are tiny, but you can still manage to shuffle them, they are a little on the "hard" side, but they stand up well when traveling. I really liked the drawings, they are kind of folksy and simple. It's a nice break from the intensely drawn packs that I have. The book that comes with it is concise and it has both upright and reversed interpretations. It has a piece of paper with a 4 card layout and a simple explanation. This you can throw out or keep. Great little gift, and cheap too.

I bought this set as a going-away gift for a co-worker for whom I had done some tarot readings. I was impressed at the quality of the set for its price. The illustrations are nice, and it comes with an instructional booklet and spreadsheet. The graphics are cute, but do not contain as much symbolism as Ryder-Waite based decks. The cards are not too small to use, but are a little difficult to shuffle due to being somewhat thick.

Miniature car racing is a thing of the past except for some beautiful old race cars and a few nostalgic followers. My grandfather was an avid racer and is mentioned in this book, which is how I came across it. My family has one copy which we pass around to remind us of "the old times". This is a wonderful book with all of the great names and the GREAT cars. It's good to see that all of the fun and work that went along with this sport is wonderfully captured to be remebered forever.

I truly adore this little kitchen witch. Although she is small (as is the book that accompanies her), her presence isn't. Just as the book says, she represents all of the kitchen witches all over the world, past and present, to bring about a sense of unity. The spellbook that accompanies her is small, but gives a lot of information. Although most of the information in the book will seem repetitive to most kitchen witches that have been practicing for a while, it is perfect for a newcomer. It is filled with simple magick tips and recipes that any modern kitchen witch will appreciate.
